Found this post on another forum.

Looks like the attack angle data is a bit iffy and the major problem seems to be the device moving and not being strapped tight enough.

Well, I took the leap and tested my Swingbyte vs a Trackman II at the Top Golf Academy in Wood Dale Illinois yesterday. Cost me $74. I took 71 swings in 71 minutes that were recorded on both the SB and TM. 13 swings were dropped from the comparison…seven times the TM did not record clubhead data ballflight only), three times I had a mis-alignment of the SB on the club, one shank was dropped, one deliberately exaggerated slice swing was dropped, and on one swing I entered the wrong club in SB. So I had a good comparison for 58 swings, 22 drivers, 15 Hybrids (21 degree), 16 six irons, and 6 pitching wedges.
I’m a 58 year old 6 handicap, using a Ping G10 driver, G10 Hybrids and Ping I 10 irons, all with standard black stiff shafts. In general I was pretty happy with how I hit the ball. Average drive yardages were 240 carry, 270 total. The facility is a protected hitting bay to an outdoor range.
Here are the numbers:

I’ve got much more to say on this but my fingers need a break. Overall, I’m impressed with the Swingbyte and believe it will continue to improve, but I think the attachment issue will be a tough one to solve. I wish the attack angle numbers were closer but at least they're not too bad for the driver, which is about to become my main improvement priority (lower my angle of attack!). The face and path numbers for the six iron were impressively close, less so for other clubs. The Trackman report and my analysis spreadsheet are available. More later.

Not sure I have the patience to keep re-aligning it on the club, and giving serious thought to a more expensive home setup once I renovate.

2cm of cloth tape fixes that.

It looks like the rubber holder needs something a bit grippier to hold onto other than cold steel.

Will know more when they arrive... for me if it the swing path info more than the swing speed stuff.

I'll just use a mail forwarder. Have used Com Gateway plenty of times and they work quite well and reasonably priced.

Swingbyte offer free ground shipping in the US. If I bought 3 and even if I estimated 2kg for them (highly doubt they would weigh that much) it would only US $43 for postage Fed Ex Express. So about $165 US each delivered.

Log out of your itunes account in app store...on ipad or iphone
Find a free app (any) and download/install it, you wont actually install it.....this is to get itunes to ask you for a new account.
When prompted to 'log in' create a new account.....with a US address.
When prompted for address use a US address eg. (google, apple, Ikea ect)
When prompted for credit card details check 'none'.
Get it registered.

http://www.reddit.com/r/golf/comments/uaw8v/swingbyte_nonsense_numbers/

Reading the comments under the OP, the consensus seems to be that the buggy numbers seem to be due to incorrect alignment of the device. That rubber mat stuff should help with that.

I can't wait to get hold of one because I would like take a look at a few of my problem clubs (esp driver) and compare between good and bad shots. Consistency is my main issue at the moment, and I would like to get an idea of what variable is causing it. And whether or not the device reads as accurate as a thousand(s) dollar launch monitor is not as important to me as internal consistency between readings.

Have you got the app?

Yes.

I tried the Android app first. Thinking the Android app may be the problem.

Got the iPad App from the US Appstore, but having the same problem.

The App found the device fine. Just not picking up the swing.

I saw the app working on Virge's iPhone last night, so I know what I suppose to see from the app.

hey guys - i'm one of the cofounders of Swingbyte. Google alerts brought me here, and (if i'm not violating any forum regs), i'm happy to answer any questions.

TS - the alignment of the device on the club matters, for a righty it needs to go at the 3 o'clock position just below the grip, with the lights facing up. if that doesn't help - shoot a note to support@swingbyte.com, and we'll see what's up.

Hi mate,When will the app be available in Australia?Cheers

the delay has been getting an export registration on encryption (we encrypt data that we send from the app). that's been done, and the right docs have been submitted to apple.

that's a long-winded way of saying "hopefully next week"

Awesome bit of kit.

Just awesome.

So it's awesome, just awesome on the virge scale, some feedback on those that got it (and got it going for that matter) would be great.

The fact that we can share and post the info on our swings - new thread probably in the making - in my opinion is just as awesome

I didn't buy one, but I watched Virge demo it on Thursday night (and had a hit myself).

I was amazed at the detail of the graphic of the club on the downswing. I was expecting just swingpath/plane/face angle, but being able to see the position and alignment of the grip through the swing struck home. I could see myself using Swingbyte to get the club to work properly, to fix my clubhead speed problem.

Kolosy, does it work with 'whiffle balls', either the hard-plastic holey ones or the sponge golf balls? If yes, I would be great for the courtyard, or hitting across the pool.

Yes, it should work. I hit a plastic tee without ball and Swingbyte do register it.

we bought generic ones at our golf supply chain (golf smith in the states). they aren't very good. half of them the metal tee doesn't stay very well (the bolts are undersized for the cutouts), and the one that did work, the ball came flying off the tether after a month or so. oops. we'll probably start making them ourselves in a bit.

Thanks for stopping by to answer questions. Any reason why you don't offer postage to countries other than the US/Canada? My Swingbyte just arrived today, but it was frustrating that I had to get it sent from China to the US, then use a mail forwarding company in the US to then forward it to Australia. Made it an unnecessarily long transit.

Had a very quick play with mine last night. Hard to tell how accurate it is after only seeing a few swings. Bit weird trying to visualise what was happening with the swing without seeing the your body and just a club floating in mid-air.

The android app could be described as functional at best. UI is pretty bad and not very intuitive.

Hey TS - what do you mean the 3D view isn't available on Android? The screens are a little crisper in iOS than android (that's going to be fixed soon), but all the same functionality should be there...

Enjoying the swingbyte. Works a treat on all clubs except the putter. I cannot get it to register at all, even if I hit one quite hard (thinking the distance I was putting was too short for a reading) it still doesn't take a reading.
As a test, I left the swingbyte device on the putter and changed the club on the app to the lob wedge, I still couldnt get a reading until I hit it really, really firm, probably somewhere around the 60-80 feet firmness of putt.
Any idea kolosy?

Virge, I was poking around on the Swingbyte website and I noticed that they mention that they will be sending out upgraded attachment somethings when they work them out, to everybody that has bought a swingbyte so far. Since you got these through a freight forwarder, will they make it over?

http://blog.swingbyte.com/post/24177153489/swingbytes-first-month-in-your-hands#disqus_thread

Not much info about what it is, and it might be just a glorified version of the rubber mat thing that you are sending us (you still have some left to send right?)

Haha, for some reason I thought you were a WAnker? I use the forums primarily through Tapatalk, which doesn't show location. Awesome. Sneaky range session Thursday morning before work! Or Wednesday night! OR BOTH!

Just to add to this...
Kolosy kindly sent me 100 new straps.
These seem to be a better rubber, softer more stretchy so hopefully do the job!
Anyone that snaps one don't hesitate to pm me ill forward them on.

Just got mine then. Thanks again Virge!

Put it put it on a club at work for a test run and this happened...

Anyone else had issues?

Nothing major but was kinda bummed. Might have to show kolosy i think. I wonder if there are replacement top housings?

DUDE !!!

Like we said - WARM up the rubber... just rub it in your hands first and stretch it and few times.

It is bloody cold and the rubber like everything else will stiffen up and ruin the housing.

I actually did warm it up Virge. The problem was not with getting it on to the shaft, it was when I took it off.

1 side of the unit seems to have a different clasp with a hole in it - Is that the same for everyone elses? At the very top of that clasp or extrusion, where the plastic folds over is a bit flimsy.

Maybe that's the side you hook the rubber on first and the stretch it on the club? I'm guessing so...

Received mine too. And the ghey pink non-slip mat haha.

Warming up the rubber. Good idea.

If this rain would **** off, I might be able to get in a solid range session to test it out.
