We've sorted out a neutral venue for the big match. The first state winner will be crowned in time for the OzGolf Champs.

We're going as guests of a friend of mine and so we *might* have one spare slot.

1. Flowergirl
2. Bruce
3. Bruce's friend Linda
4.

It will be about 12:00 tee time so if you want that last slot let me know ASAP so I can negotiate it.

Ok..........the match has been played and won. Gee - you Qland and Nsw guys are so slow.............we have the first State Title Matchplay winner............drum roll please.............and the winner of a very closely fought game was Flowergirl. :D

We were all square going into the last hole( 9th par 5- played 10 first) and I was able to par to win the hole.
:D
Now Bruce is gunna get on here and bang on how he threw the game away on the hole before by losing a ball off the tee - then reloading and losing that one also  . Actually Bruce spent a lot of time in the trees - nearly as much time as I did in the bunkers

We were lucky with the weather - the rain held off till after we finished - and a good day was had by all.

Yarra Yarra is a lovely course - but I don't think I'd pay $15,000 joining fee ( I'm sure thats what Bruce said it was). I found it a bit short off the ladies to rate as a real challenge. Once you got used to the layout it was be relatively "easy" as far as golf courses go that is.

I actually think that - as far as the ladies are concerned - that a handicap of 20 earned on that course would be higher on my home track and the likes of Portsea, The National and other course down my way.

Thanks again Bruce for organising the day and for a great game. I thought I had you when I was 3 up - but you played some great shots and you a great sport and a gentleman. :D

Well done Reenie.

The term "pulling like a school boy" does not adequtely describe just how disastrous I was off the tee. More like "pulling like a pasty middle-aged man with thick glasses who still lives with his parents and has a porn collection that barely fits into a single room". And I think the Tee Trees have a surlyn deficiency the way they just swallowed my ball the many, many times I put it in there. My apologies to FG and Linda for making them spend about an hour on the day searching for my fricken ball.

Last time I played YY it was blowing a gale and so my impression of its' length was probably skewed. In the light conditions we had on Friday I was playing 3W-8I into a couple of holes and I am no long hitter.

So congratulations to the Victorian Champion. She will be able to respresent us all at the Champs at least.

Thanks Bruce.
And no need to apologise for the searching. I was getting a bit concerned that you kept trying to get us into the bushes with you.

I was determined to play well - although I didn't play great. Had to prove your friend Linda wrong. Her comment to me " I think your 20 handicap won't mean much on a course like Yarra Yarra" before we even started stumped me a bit. My home course may not be very "prestigous" but you earn your handicap on that course - as you do on most.

If I had paid $15k to join up I would be telling myself that I had joined one of the most amazing golf courses in the world. Imagine paying all that money and then having to admit to yourself that it was merely 'good'.

This is called cognitive dissonance.

I think I've seen a movie where 1 guy and 2 girls go out to play golf but end up spening more time beside the fairways than on it.
