Righto boys heres what's planned so far. Its not in concrete so let me know what you think.

Friday 26th october: social warm-up round at either joondalup or Lakelands (nothing organised yet)
Saturday 27th: 5 Groups booked for 11am tee off at Suncity Yanchep ($45/head)
Sunday 28th: 5 groups from 730am at Wanneroo ($38/head)

Im thinking of accommodation at yanchep for friday and saturday nights. Can i get EOI for this as numbers will dictate what sort of accom is best ie Club capricorn bungalows, or massive beach house etc.

Please indicate your interest in:

1) friday golf
2) a slot for the GSM cup3
) accommodation preference

And yes i booked wanneroo early as i play my best golf when hungover or drunk as some of you know.

Golfnut
4th May 2012, 02:31 PM
1) either course ok with me. NFI if I'll be able to play this....work schedule dependant.
2) slot for GSM Cup please
3) accom - go with the flow

Well done tommyg for getting this under way.

Yep in.

Friday, joondy would be great if we can get a deal, otherwise too costly IMO.

Don't know where else you would play though.

Accommodation doesn't bother me, cheap is fine with me :)

Do you need any organisational pointers?

Sounds good Tommy but will have to check in with Missy... These days, I spend only 2 out of every 14 days with her and at the moment those days fall on the fri and sat of each r+r. On the 24th October, I'm back for R+R so will be here for the 3 days.

If worst comes to worst, maybe I can drive to the courses each day, but leave this one with me.

I was thinking... if we end up squeezing in an afternoon 'skins game', maybe that could be played at the Yanchep National Park course? It's meant to be quite scenic, but haven't played there (yet).

sounds great Tommy!

count me in for all 3 days golfing, but i will only stay on the Friday night shenanigans. The boss offered that up for me without any argument and given we will have a two week old bub in the house at that time i'm not going to argue.

cheers mate good work.

I didnt know there was another course up there.... nice... drunken skins. Maybe we should get some of the glow balls from glen iris too.

A cheaper possibility for friday arvo might be carramar too.

And by the way... the saturday at sun city is the week following 4 weeks of club champs and the week before some other major cup theyve got on so the course will be at its best. As for accom depending on numbers theres some big down south style houses up there for private rent... that could be an option. If i can find one on either course or the beach then it should be fun....

I'll be coming from south through the city to play! Depends if im playing friday or not (at this stage i am).

Airport is about 20 from the city, but not a lot around there, look at great eastern highway for cheap accom in the way to the city! Some good knock shops (ive been told) through that way too ;-)

Not Sure Tommy Could Handle it?

Quick Question, with the wise men from the east, should we look at a more traditional Down South Champs again. Binningup can be included, Perhaps Bunbury/Busselton and maybe KB on the Sunday?

Just a thought, Sun City and Wanneroo (by all accounts) are good tracks though...

simmsy

yeah i hear what you're saying shades. wanneroo and SC are good tracks but not to the level of bunvegas, Binni and KB.

Out of courtesy to our brethren from the other side of the black stump - we should look at the South...

Between all of us - transport should not be a problem.

Having played both Sun City and Wanneroo, they are not the courses I would not use them as highlighters. Sun City, perhaps in the last century. Wanneroo, while a good course for a player, I would rate Joondalup for its spectacle.

I wouldn't with regard to Sun City. Conditioning has been quite inconsistent. Wanneroo is a better course. However, in terms of playing for the sheer pleasure of golf, Binningup, Bunbury, KB, Mandurah are more unique experiences.

I would hardly call Wanneroo and Sun City average............ Good toilets? They are very average compared to Bunbury and KB.Don't get me wrong, I enjoy both courses immensely, but they would both struggle to crack a top 300 list. As ID says, Sun City can be very average, conditioning wise. Besides, both of those courses suit DC68, who is already the heavy favourite to win champs.

I have to agree with my fellow WAnkers.....if I was a Queerlander coming over here, I'd want to be playing the best the West has to offer, more-so that it's our Champs too. We could still do it NOR with Joondalup and (insert other good NOR course, Vines???).....Bunbury & KB would be my picks if we head south again with Binni thrown in for skins on Sat arvo.

Still think Tommy should have the most input in the end though and make the final decision.

OK, I just heard from Tommy, who is currently in QLD.

He agrees that we should head south as he would like the same thing. Let's show our guests a good time. (Not that type, Lubes)

His only request is that we include Binny in a skins game. That will easily be accommodated and is always one of the highlights of the weekend. Depending on numbers, I'll devise a good format for this, numbers pending.

Right.... I've commandeered N iPad. Firstly, shadesy that's a great idea... The carton that is. And I must agree that if these eastern freaks are making the shchleck across the nullabor then we should go south as ther is undoubtably better golfing experiences to be had down there. So even though I've slaven away organizing the event for dusty northern tracks if the queers are co ing then let's go south. The more the merrier as obviously nothings booked yet. The question is where to stay? I personally, being the type that that really enjoys being very drunk and attempting sports whilst away from the mrs and kids suggest the nanga bush camp...
