I'm still going with the "loop, swoop and pull" thing.

You talking about shoelaces or what you do with Mrs. Palmer?

One of the original TED talks. I have tied my shoes this way ever since seeing it. Brilliant.I'm so sick of having to do double knots to ensure they don't come undone with the method I have been taught. After seeing this clip, I tested the knot out and it lasted for my 50min run without a problem. Awesome!

All my life I have been mocked about the way I tie my shoes, just because it was different to all the cool kids. This video has reinforced that my way is correct. The beatings I received due to my different shoe tying left me crying myself to sleep almost every day of my life. IF only this video was available back then I could have been Prime Minister by now.

I feel vindicated.

I changed to that method in high school, when I realised that I'd been taught a granny knot, rather than a reef knot.

Another handy hint to try for a more comfortable fit .... Lace the shoe up to the second-top eyelet on both sides, then go down through the top eyelet on that side. Across the tongue and under the 'little loop', just formed on the other side. Tie them up as usual.

I don't know why. (May be the angle the forces are pulling on the shoe, or the 'little loop' could acts as a shock absorber.)
