Just wondering if anyone has been to china and how you went about getting a visa.

I went to the Chinese embassy, do the paperwork and five days later you get your visa. Take your passport with you as they attach the visa into the passport.

If you are going for work reasons you need some proof from your employer that it's a legitimate reason. The visa is valid for 12 months from date of issue, so don't go until you know what your travel dates are

I didn't even know you needed something besides your passport to go there. I'll be sent there for work this year, so hopefully they will take care of it for me.

Any good golf courses near Shanghai?

No. 1 tip of things to take with you to China... those small packets of tissues. Always carry a pack on you as you never know when you might need it! ;)

Every hotel has proper Western toilets ... many other places have a western toilet as the handicapped toilet, so you should be fine.

Agree, Hotels generally ok but although other places may have a western toilet, toilet paper can be optional... my tip still stands! ;)

My tip for travel in Asia is always sit before you go out even if you don't wanna.
