You win Hux.

I was there when Hale Irwin won the US Open at Medinah. I was about 150m away when he high fived everyone, but was at the green at the 19th hole in the playoff with the gallery rope right across my not so massive gut in those days ... 1990. Pity, I was baracking for Mike Donald.

My wife is from NSW and was insisting on wearing her blues jumper that night. Honestly, no idea.

Anyway, we agreed to go in neutral colours since we were on the hill. We were sitting there when 4 guys in blue jumpers came along and sat towards the base. All night they were peppered with rubbish, cans, cups to which they got up a few times and made a few gestures towards those behind us throwing the stuff. The final straw came when one of them was hit with a pie. That's when the biff started and was the point when my wife realised that wearing her blue's jumper would not have ended well

I was there the week before they blew up the towers. Freaky shit. I had just been to the 2001 PGA championship At Atlantla Athletic Club.

I was right beside Toms when he decided to layup on the par 4 last hole. We were walking up the fairway to the green expecting a playoff, when his ball landed right beside us. We stopped and waited and the conversation with his caddy was amazing. Toms wanted to hit a 5 wood onto the green, but the caddy insisted that he hit a 6 iron and lay up. Caddy said to hit 6 iron, wedge on, make the putt and win the tournament.

He did exactly that.

I was at the 18th green of the '75 Open when Jack Newton missed his chance to win...and then the next day lost the 18 hole play-off!

I watched Merv's hat trick v Windies at the WACA in '89. Also saw Curtly break Geoff Lawson's jaw!!!

I was at the WACA in '94 when Kapil Dev became the highest wicket taker in Test cricket.

Was also there to see Glenn McGrath's hat trick v Windies in 2000.

Saw Haydos hit the highest ever Test score (at the time)...380, also at The WACA, in 2003.

Saw Gilly's 2nd fastest EVER Test ton in 2006.

Saw the first ever NSL Perth Glory home game...and also saw their GF win in 2003.

Holy crapolla, I was there too on that hill. I remember those dudes and one that was right in the middle. Everyone cleared about 10m radius from him and he got hammered by everything. We used to fill cans with piss as it took too long to get to the toilets and back and toss them at him. I never knew how far you could throw a loaded can until that night. Some of the guys at the back should have been in the Olympics. God I miss the hill.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdJDB5_AxxEI was there too, Gaz. A truly awesome mark.

I was also there when Modra took mark of the year in 1994, but they decided to award it to Ablett who touched the ball a couple of times on his way to the ground. My best mate and I can be seen in the background standing in anticipation, because we could see it coming, before the rest of the ground, in footage that was used for the Centenary celebration video for AFL/VFL.
The mark is the third one in the this clip, but the resolution is terrible. Those were the days of crowds of 5000, if they had a good day.

I was there when....Jason Dunstall kicked his 1000th goal. I am embarrassed to say that I did not run onto the ground, and very few did. It would have happened in Victoria, but not in Brisbane and the security guards focused their attention on our area of the ground.

I was there when....Sri Lanka beat Australia in a ODI in Australia for the first time (MCG). That was shit!

Unlikely - only one game a round was televised in those days, and Melbourne was rarely one of them.

I still recall that in the newspaper the next day it was mentioned along the lines, "Jackson showed great agility by running full length of the ground..." it was a brilliant game as you can see by the scoreline, especially for me sitting in the goal square, Hawthorn kicked the last 2 goals of the match (http://afl.allthestats.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=160&catid=34&Itemid=56&qry=1&t1=11&inyr=1982&inrd=21) after Melbourne kicked 8 in a row

I went to two games in a row at the MCG and we stood in the goal squares right on the fence changing every quarter just so we could be close up to Jacko, funny as hell, plus he booted quite a few goals. In the first game he started in the bench, when he came on after 10 mins, he kicked a goal straight away, and immediately flipped the bird to the coaches box.

The 2nd game Rod "Tilt" Carter was on him, and Jackson did not let up the whole game by doing Quasimodo impressions. Pretty much anytime the ball was nowhere near he was doing something to entertain, or in the case of Tilt, annoy the hell out of him.
