I'd have thought someone drinking a shandy like the mad monk would be more of a loser than Hawke.

He's hardly stumbling around blind drunk. Typical conservatives turning it into something else.

It always amazed me that this Rhodes scholar actually conned the great unwashed to think that he was actually one of them. He hung out with Sir Peter Abeles, Sir Frank Lowy et al far more than with Macca, Davo et al.

Again you totally miss the point, it has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with Hawke being a sad old drunk who deserves derision not adulation.

I think you are the one missing the point. Turning a fluff piece into something way more than it is. I think the bigger question is, why do you care?

I could easily vote liberal if they had a decent leader. The next election would be a canter if they put Turnbull in.

Fluked it, being in the right place at the right time. Won the 'drover's dog' election and had his mug in front of the camera at major sporting victories, to keep him there.

Prior to that, held the country to ransom in the 70's with various petrol, public transport, beer, wharves, construction, etc. strikes.

Oh, this must have been what mega was referring to. I sent him a pm and all he said was some cryptic message that didn't mean anything. I feel a little like Seinfeld, "i've been outed and I wasn't even in"

Turnbull can cross the floor for all I care. I think I played with Macjackass once in a ACT v NSW day. Walked off cause he was playing bad and had the shits. Think that was him anyway.

I reckon Hawke was a fantastic PM, but it had ****all to do with how much he could skoll.

The attention this got and all the calls about how Gillard or Howard etc couldn't do it, just goes to show the idioacy of the voting public. You get what you deserve I guess.

The next election will be liking choosing the biggest dildo for someone to **** us with.

How can you say he was a good PM, he was no different from the rubbish we have now. think about his promises the biggest one being
"No child will live in poverty" Wow he sorted that.

Moe Norman
10th January 2012, 12:01 PM
pretty stupid promise, but Hawke was an excellent PM in his own right.

Some of his (and Keatings) structural changes, in conjunction with the good work of Howard - are why we enjoy the strong economy we have today (in comparison).

He was nothing like the arseholes we have on both sides today.

Whether in business or politics, leadership can and should be be aspirational. Sure you can point to examples of where it didn't work, that is easy, however what about the programs put into to address problems. If you always judge success and failure on absolutes you are going to spend life disappointed.

Without stating the obvious, the queen is a show piece, the pm is the same.
One person does not control the country.
Just a representative of others in his or her party

If any one in private industry told lies as politicians do to get into office you would be dismissed very quickly. It is about time we had the same option, not giving them the full term and then try to vote them out. Only to be told more lies to cling to office.Remember it is our money they spend.
