I've got the heavier KBS Tour shafts in my R9 TP irons and i love them.

Higehr launch than the DG's, with better feel and stronger trajectory.

Very nice shafts :)

Jarro, thanks for that what tempo do you swing i have a quick tempo and that is why he was recommending the 120's, thoughts?

Jarro has a moderately slow tempo.

I have a quick tempo, and although i loved the feel of the kbs's they launched way too high for me. Ive since switched to dg's and they work better for me. I'm no expert but i'd say kbs suit a more smooth or even tempo.

Im not sure about that (the smooth/even tempo part). They seem to work great for me, and i'm far from having a smooth or even tempo :D

Mixed results for me with KBS - didn't like them much in a set of Callaway X Tour heads, but really like them in my current 09 Tour Preferreds. No idea what I would put it down to, but my swing hasn't changed much between now and then. My tempo's quickish, but definitely not even (slightly slower on the backswing compared to the rest of it).

I agree with this and I have hit kbs tour shafts in 2 sets of clubs (demos ping 115's and TM Tp's)

KBS weigh 120 grmas as stated
DG S300's are 130 grams

I have hit regs in KBS and man they felt whippy...like DG Superlite

consisder 1050 or 1150 nippon also which are super nice shafts

Thats uncut, KBS will come out about 110-115 when cut and I have measured DGS300's that weighted anywhere from 115 to 125 when cut. All tapers which are constant weight in both models.

Good point.I always think s300 suit limited people. They were designed as a tour players shaft. They shouldn't be a stock shaft for so many brands

Nippons and kbs suit club players more.

Yes

Most club players cant handle heavy steel shafts.Well they can but wont play as well as they could with something a smidgen lighter.

S300 is a tour weighted shaft.

i much preferred the kbs over dg.
to me dg is very harsh feeling shaft while kbs is quiet smooth.

my tempo is fairly quick.

They were fine for nearly 20 years until some numbnut decided that choppers need a 38"+ long 5 iron. Now heads have to be made lighter to compensate for this or you need a lighter shaft like Nippons to cope with the extra beam length.
KBS Tours fix this somewhat due to their tapered wall thickness. Only tear is that if you like your irons at old standard length or shorter with KBS shafts you have to add weight to the heads to bring the SW above D0 or below.

KBS tours are not that much lighter than DGs, the main reason for the lighter SW is because they are counter balanced.

Call it what you like. Braly designed the Tour shaft with a higher cog & sectional reduction in stiffness. Its achieved by tapering the wall of the shaft to suit his design perameters. As a result they load smoothly & feel softer than they play.
Great shafts.

Who's playing KBS and what do they do for you? I've only had a hit with one of Jarro's R9's and it felt more cushioned than my DG's, so I'm curious.

I'm now the owner of the ex-PTP/ Solarman Adams MBs with Black KBS Tours. They definitely feel a touch softer than the PX Flighted 6.0's in my CB1's. If I had a bit more spare coin, I'd reshaft both sets with KBS Tours.

Have been hitting these in stiff for a week and they definitely dont fit my swing feel as harsh as .maybe need regs ? been using s300 's till now , and the kbs tour stiff feel heaps stiffer and as i said fair bit harsh. Probably just my crappy ball striking but all the same not for me.
Not about kbs but how much difference is there between DG r400 - s200 - s300 ? experience any -one?

Im a reg man

In reg yes kbs tour reg felt firmer than dg R300

Not by allot though

The dg you mentioned is weights

Weight wise kbs when cut are tad lighter than s300 and r300 - bout 8-10 grams

Virgee and other shaft gurus will know more!

Cheers Dave just found what i was lookin for in 370 para
R 200/ 300/ 400. 124/ 127/ 131 grms
S 200/ 300/ 400. 127/ 130/ 134 "

Reg has 12.125" tip section . = tad softer ?
Stif " 10.125" " " .

So if i go to r400 from s300 bugger all weight change will just feel a tad softer ? mmm

dave1
15th March 2012, 07:47 PM
A shaft in between

Ns pro 1050 in stiff - softer/lighter than s300

But firmer than r300

Ns pro launch tad higher - nice shafts actually

Another option is dg xp300 in stiff - these play softer than than standard dg and about 12-15 grams lighter.

My tip - see a club fitter!
