It has slowly happened, but I am rocking the Nike gear.

I have not tried their latest irons, but the VR Pro Woods are awesome. And the Hybrids are also bloody nice. Match that up with genuine Project X graphite in everything and they are a good buy.

Now if they just get rid of the str8fit connector which has to be the ugliest thing I have ever seen . . . they may have a winner.

Virge, as previously stated, the VR Tour Driver "head" is one of the better ones out there, IMO.
Classic looking, sits nice and square, great sound and feel.
In fact im on the lookout for a 10.5*8)

I definately like the look of the driver, but for me, the Irons just look the goods. Particularly the Pro Blades. =P~

Rick - I played a set of the CCI forged in Thailand. I liked the feel, and they were pretty forgiving. S300 shafts. I could easily put them in the bag if needed. I liked the mid irons more than most blades. They are a bit more forgiving than my current TM MBs in the mid- long clubs.

I have been playing a VR driver 10.5 with PX5.5 for the last 4-5 weeks, the non adjustable one and love it. The feel is more solid than my 910 D3 and goes straighter. I feel like I have to make a better fuller swing with it and it is hard to get to go left. I originally bought it because I just wanted the PX shaft and got it for $80 brand new on eBay, I never expected to be playing it and liking it as much as I do....stu

Picked up a set of the older pro combo tours. Really lovely looking set with just oversize enough heads and a bit of offset to add playability. Nice traditional shape with thin sole and topline. Very unfussy looking. Look at set up is very remincent of the TM300. The blade short irons feel superb. As good as any I have used. Long irons are forgiving with a good higher trajectory. Mid irons play well also. I feel you would be hard pressed to find a better combo set than these. Some know-it-alls rubbish Nike; but this set in it's catagory would be hard to better.

The Tours are essentially the same set. They were released a little later than the original model.(2005 maybe) They didn't have the tarted up lines or decals in the cavity. The sole grind had a little less bounce and they came standard with DG shafts.

If I didn't have a VR Tour (and a spare head in the cupboard) that'd be the one I'd aim for. In all likelihood it was probably introduced after NG realised its mistake at discontinuing the VR Tour. There's a reason why Tiger, Schwartzel etc are still using the VR Tour.

Anyway, anyone played nikes new wedges?

My VR forged are getting old and I have an 8* gap between my pitching wedge and sand wedge.

I'm thinking a move to 52 and 58 will be better. 4* gap in my regular irons and a 6* gap for my wedges (46 PW, 52 gap, 58 sand/lob)

Keen on the new 3X3 wedges from Nike and the R12 mizuno but I'm scared going to new grooves is going to kill the spin I get...

I don't see the point in using the new grooves.

To see what all of the fuss was about, I tried on a pair of these today. To be frank, they didn't live up to expectations. The Nike Lunar Control are way more comfortable. The tongue of the TW 13 shoes is bit longer than a normal golf shoe. I found it quite annoying due to contact higher up on the front of the ankle.

Puj, I had a range session last night with my teaching pro / club fitter. I've just shafted an ex-Virge SQII 4 wood (bent to 16 deg) [tour version] head. I had it up against my VR Pro 2 hybrid (18 deg). Both with HoF shafts. When I flushed both, the 2 hybrid was only about 5 metres behind the fw wood. As I said before, the VR Pro is a beast. :)

I've had the VR pro brid in the bag at one stage and it was long with Matriz Ozik Black tie, but not longer than the 913hd.

Now using the DYMO 380 with TP7HD and it's easier to hit and longer than the Ping G20 with ADBB which I thought was the most consistent and best club I've ever hit.

Used both the VR tour and LTD ed and it blows them both away. Teeing higher gets the sweet spot and easy to work the ball. Totally differnt sound and feel on impact. Similiar to the Tour Issue Dymo 460 that Perci may or may not still have. Muted and solid. Similar to the Covert Tour , but hotter off the face. Now I know why Tiger and AK used this beast. If you could get your hands on one you won't be disappointed and well worth the money.

For what it's worth. The covert performance head beat the razr fit extreme for me at the speed trials. 1 mph less ball speed with the covert but 10 extra yards of carry.

I had a similar thing happen. The Covert Tour gave me an extra 5mph Ballspeed over a 910 D3. Also reduced my spin by almost 1000rpm. End result is the longest and straightest driver I have ever owned. I'm seeing 10-15m more carry as an average.

It's been 3 weeks since hitting the range and having the recieved the new additions to the bag (from Perci, Virge, Ferrins and Will Peoples from the US). It was prolly one of my best range sessions this year. Also started just swinging wedge shots with just the left arm (warmup while I was on the mobile answering a call) which I reckon made the session worthwhile and enjoyable)

The 3 wood was like it never left my bag. low shot stingers, high flighers. cuts. $$$
The 5 Wood has a piercing flight to start then heads upwards , but not overly high.
The NIke Protos Split Cavities had the same result as the Ping Ansers I've had, just forged. No harshness, but then again I managed to flush all but two shots.
