Thought I'd throw up a date for a Melbourne OZgolf day.

I'm hopeless and can't make a decision on a course, so I've shortlisted and given three options in the course discussion topic as a poll (http://ozgolf.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2683).  Moonah Links Legend or Moonah Links Open or Portsea. The polls open to everyone.

Those who are interested in playing, register above and post your course preference.  You may have played one course and want to play the other.

Ok.....I'm in....just gotta organize staff. I'm NOT letting you off the hook - you can pick the course. :D I don't care where we play - I can play just as bad on any course.
I can't see John being able to take the day off - but I'll work on him.

I've been really sick for the last 10 days. (Apparently people used to die of bacterial pneumonia before antibiotics - I can believe that now)

There is therefore no way I can swing a Monday off in the next couple of weeks. Too much catchup required.

Have fun though.

Sorry to hear that Bruce. Maybe we can catch up next time that I am down in Melbourne.

Sorry to hear you're sick Bruce........like a lot of other people on this site - and they don't have pneumonia
Catch up some other time

I've talked myself into trying to play at the Open course.
Should be interesting.

Booked a tee time of 10:50am for 4 people. Got a rate of $60 per person, because I mentioned their website, and also booked one handheld GPS contraption for $10 to share between us.
No carts booked though.

FG, can you find out if John is out for sure, as I need to let them know if we won't have 4 people, a few days in advance of the round.

AndyP........I used my powers of persuasion on John and he will be playing :D Hopefully I can get another firend of ours to play too if you want me to ask him. Let me know.

FG, I don't think there will be any more takers on the fourth spot here, so extend the invitation to your friend. :)

AP......just confirmed with our friend Grant. He's a starter. Nice bloke - hasn't an official handicap....but he'd probably play around low 20's. Could be a long day  May be good to suggest a stableford round. Could end in tears otherwise  Looking forward to it. I'm going away Fri morning - back home late Sunday night. Ring me on my mobile if you need to contact me 0425 776718.
Don't know where we are going. John is taking me away for a "mystery" weekend. :D
See you Monday - I'll work until 9.30 then meet you there at about 10 am or so.

1. AndyP 31 points
2. John 24 points
3. FG Score withheld as per request, although above 17 points. ;)

Fourth member of the group didn't have a handicap and I don't know what his score was anyway.

It was a fantastic day.

good work Pippy. 31 points from the tips is good going.

what did you think of the layout? How about the second fairway with the big hump in the middle of it! Did you end up playing Legends as well?

Scores please....
..any any other scores from the tour. Romours are already circulating through the internet of large numbers.

I may have heard similar. I think it was one of the Melbourne sandbelt courses...

(As opposed to the Mornington sandbelt.....)

It was from the white tees. Playing from the black would have been too cruel on the 20+ cappers (as well as me). Otherwise, I probably would have gone from the blue.

I'll jot down my thoughts on the course when I get a chance.
There was a hump in the 2nd fairway? The par 5? Or do you mean the big hill on the 3rd?

We only played the Open course. We walked it and it took up a good part of the day.

Sorry it's taken me a few days to report on our day at Moonah. The weather held out - a few showers threatened but then it was fine and cool - but luckily not blowing a gale.
The course is great - but not very forgiving - lots of horrid little bunkers on the fairways ready to gobble you up - and forget about getting out with a shot with distance - nasty high and deep little buggers
I drove well but could not play any decent fairway woods or iron shots  I had a dismal 21 points - thanks AndyP for not telling on me- but I'll fess up.
Best hole of the day for me was the par 3 17th. I parred it and the boys all had a wipe :D
Highlight of the day was the champagne and King Island cheese back at our place afterwards. And no AndyP - I won't tell anyone about the incident with the you know what

I really enjoyed my day out to the Mornington Peninsula. Great course and lots of fun was had.
Then afterwards it was back to the FG Homestead for a couple of sips of bourbon & coke with cheese and biscuits, and some laughs.
Thanks to Reenie, John and Grant for a fantastic day. I look forward to my next round with you.

5 and 1 for me thanks. Just because I was still 50m off the green, playing my third, doesn't mean I had a wipe. That was a great DRIVE you played to that par 3 by the way. :D

And no AndyP - I won't tell anyone about the incident with the you know what
I'm telling you, I only reversed into that wheelie bin because it is a different shade of green to the Brisbane bins, and I couldn't see it.
Because you mentioned that, I am going to mention your inviting me to the bedroom. ;)

Now I'm not exactly sure that I can remember which hole is which, so correct me if I am wrong peoples.

Grant playing the 158m (white) par 3 5th. He got it on the green, as did I.

FG teeing up on the 318m (ladies) par 4 8th. 50m+ headstart.

Looks like I put FG off on the 13th (370m). That ball is heading left.
Very short par 5 for the men off the whites at 397m, although up hill. I didn't think that was right, so I intentionally topped my first two shots.

What a shot! FG showing John how to get out of the sand (he never quite figured it out). This is one of those nasty pot fairway bunkers. 306m (white) par 4, 14th.

I think this is a photo I took looking down the 582m (black) par 5 18th from the 7th Tee. Oooooo, aaaahhhhh.
