Stay with me pie, supposing Pie can get the day away from the Kitchen,
Who knows the diff between GL & WAGL hc??

idgolfguy

WAGL, isn't that some mystical creature that has been proven to be a matter of convenience.

Pieface
22nd November 2011, 09:46 PM
v Didn't I hear you say you played 2 rounds off 27 or something recently Id? Golflink. Foolproof

Now unconnected to the above statement:

I don't really care, OMS organises we play by his rules. However, I do think it's a bit rich to say that a WAGL handicap has less relevance than a Golflink that has SFA comp rounds against it and a lot of golf under the players belt. Golflink isn't some magic panacea. Of course guys (EDIT: and Gals! Sorry Cosmo) playing regular comp rounds are going to have a more accurate handicap. WAGL or Golflink.

As far as I know OMS WAGL is calculated the old way - CCR is calculated on the comp and depending on your current 'cap you lose a certain amount of strokes (lose more strokes the higher your handicap. It's broken into 3 or 4 brackets AFAIK) for each stroke you are under the CCR. You can only go out 0.1 max on any one round. I think over 25hcp you lose about 0.5/stroke and by the time you are sub 10 you are only losing 0.2/stroke. That's obviously not an in depth analysis and I'm not vouching 100% that I have the figures right. It's the vibe. It's Mabo.

I certainly understand the desire to have some sort of independant assessment of a golfers ability for the big events.

I'm in....this is my goal...to walk and play Summer Cup :-)

Zeusgolf
22nd November 2011, 09:56 PM
Oh and I was about 2 strokes lower under WAGL so no adantage to GL handicap players

adlo
22nd November 2011, 10:36 PM
Agreed with Zeus, WAGL handicaps are generally lower. No advantage.

A WAGL handicap is calculated on the "old" method and generally against an ACR on a public track which is always quite generous when compared to a private track. Advantage = the rest of us.

Yep golfnut, finally did it. Went out this arvo at 5pm and played 13 holes in -3! Then had a swim after. That place this afternoon was magic! First comp round is next tues with the miners, off Ellenbrook. Hope they come out as well as 2day. Almost an ace and 5 birdies.

PGN/Miners play there on Tuesday mornings Nuff, is that what you mean?

Nuffie
25th November 2011, 12:03 AM
Yes, I'll be playing in PGN/Miners field, Tuesdays off blues round Ellenbrook and also the usual Vines sat comps. Plus hopefully get a bit of practice before each round. This is the perfect work/golf/home life balance that has taken so long to implement. Wanted to achieve this at Cabramatta, but unfortunately the Sydney job market let me down 5 years ago.Nut, we should do a sun or tues PGN hit. My FIFO category gives me PGN/Miners.

MegaWatty
25th November 2011, 12:07 AM

Nuffie
25th November 2011, 12:12 AM
8 days away but then 6 days at home Mega. For now it works well living in Ellenbrook. The commute to my old city job was a ballbreaker, given I was there for 9 hrs a day excluding travel time and on 50% of my current salary.

MegaWatty

Yep do the hard yards now Nuff while you don't have the kids. Get set up as much as possible so you can afford to work back in town once the patter of little feet starts to sound. Don't get addicted to spending the cash you are making. If you leave the Mrs at home for 8 days in a row with no help you will become persona non gratis very quickly. Plus you just don't want to miss out.

We had a similar issue when no. 3 arrived. Bought a Honda CRV when we were waiting for no 2 to pop out knowing that 3 were on the cards only to find out you couldn't fit that many car seats. We've now got the Grand Carnival 8 seater bus. It's great when the eldest wants to bring a mate home from school or when the inlaws are going out with us.

Divvy it up over the NTP,LD,1-2-3&gross.

don't worry about it just yet but if everyone is happy for this to proceed then i'll get you all to put the $10 into my account, rather than hand over money on the day as then i can have all the cash split up prior to the event for each of the prize winners.
