I'm thinking of stepping into the current century and buying one of these thingys. Along with that I'll be buying 2 iphones for me and the missus and whacking all of our CD's on them.Looking for this sort of gadget http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Panasonic-SCHC35-HiFi-cd-Silver-iPod-iPhone-4-dock-/120810057193?pt=AU_Electronics_Portable_Audio_Acce ssories&hash=item1c20d72de9#ht_4857wt_952
So I'm looking for recommendations on speaker docks preferably with a CD player built in, whatcha got?

You wouldn't really need the CD player if you were transferring all the music to iTunes though Gaz.

That's what we did 8)

Gaz, just last week we bought a yamaha micro system (mcr-040), can't find a link for you at moment as I am only on the iPod.
It has a cd player,USB connection, fm and digital radio (loving some of the DAB station playlists). We got it for $370 from the good guys, maybe a bit overkill for what you want, but very happy with it.

SEM Dragon (http://www.icetv.com.au/store/General-Accessories/SEM-DRAGON-Silver-Black)

Tangent Alio (http://www.rio.com.au/product/3/10/746/tangent-alio-stereo/)

Edit: a friend has the Panasonic, and the sound is not that good - yes I know the ripped songs are lossy, etc.

I have an ihome clock radio and a Bose Wave unit with an iPod dock - both are great, in particular the Bose given its size.

I was looking at those Bose units, did you take them up on the trial period before you bought Alex. Couldn't quite scrape the funds.About a grand for memory??

The music will surely sound better on something that looks like it is from the 80's.

Another vote for the yamaha units. I just bought the TSX-130, which is a bit like the one Lagerlover bought, but a slightly different look. Sounds great for the size.

Am looking for one to put in the kitchen/family room to provide some tunes whilst carrying out the household chores. DAB is a must.

I got mine around this time last year - it was $200 off and a free iPod dock but no trial period. I'd heard one before any way and didn't need the trial...

I had a look at a Yamaha unit in JB today, looked the goods. I've always had Yamaha stereos and they have been great.
