3rd October 2011, 08:03 AM
G'day OZgolfers,

I thought I'd pop in with some early good news. The forecast, at this stage, for the Sunshine Coast on champs weekend is partly cloudy and 25 degrees each day.

It won't belt down like last year.

Have a great time,

I don't mind getting a bit wet but the thing I hate is slippery grips. Can't hold on and therefore difficult to make a decent swing. Pros have their caddies to help them keep their gloves and grips dry ... we don't have that luxury.

I bought a Footjoy wet weather glove. I don't know how well it will work though.

INTENSE thunderstorms are expected over the next few days with heavy rainfall predicted for the weekend.

The storms are due to develop today but remain off the coast until tomorrow.
"Isolated thunderstorms should develop today from about Townsville to Fraser Island,'' said Tom Saunders, Senior Meteorologist at The Weather Channel.
"Thunderstorms on Thursday will become more widespread as a trough heads inland followed by a similar set-up on Friday and Saturday with very humid north-easterly winds and thunderstorms across most of the state,'' he continues.
"From Thursday onwards the thunderstorms have the potential to become extremely dangerous over Queensland and may generate damaging winds, flash flooding and large hail.''
"It is possible small parts of the south-east quarter of Queensland will see around 100mm.''
The Gold Coast forecast is most severe for Friday and Saturday before the weather is expected to clear on Sunday. Showers are expected to return on Monday.

correct Bruce. There may be late storms and rain but I would bet Ned's left (and right) teste that it will not be solid crappy rain for 3 days like we had last year.
You will note I am very generous on my bets. Any other bets? I am happy to put neds left arm, right leg, kidneys and liver on the table as well.

I will give you the drum on weather forecasts...once they go past 24hrs the accuracy diminishes significantly to the point that a 4 day outlook is not much better than one of Jarro's tips in the footy comp. Occasionally they get it right - we have a neutral SOI trending towards a weak La Nina unlike last year which was a solid way way above normal at this point. Bring spare shoes and wet weather gear it could be anyones guess in reality.

FFS, really guys, isn't it time to move onto another topic. This joke and the many permutations have been milked to death for over a year!! In all honesty it was funny the first 500 variations but now it is just beginning to freaking annoy me - so please move on - nothing more to milk here.

Your old mate Dick here with some very good news. I'm calling it now - that's right - 3 days of perfection with nothing but sunshine and maximums of about 26-27 degrees. The only moisture that will be seen will be by Lubin with his new girlfriend (who knew that he was straight?). Hope you all have a great time. Go the Easties!
