I'm with Just. I never want to listen to McAvaney calling a grand final again. Already booked in to watch it on foxtel at my Dad's place next year.

Although Robert Walls and Matthew Lloyd aren't far behind and I thought a couple of the commentators today got a little carried away with themselves when the pies got a couple of goals up in the second quarter. Had to laugh when one of them said "I reckon Geelong will just be happy to keep the margin to three goals at half time" right before Geelong kicked the next two goals.

That was Lloyd. Doofus. I also commented on that at the time. I think he is getting worse as a commentator - Hard to believe I know.

Not sorry I missed the loaf based on all reports, but I was doing exactly the same AP - although you probably didn't have an umbrella on standy-by.

My strategy was to stay home with the family until 2:05 and then hop in the car for the 20 minute drive to my Dad's place, thereby removing any chance that I would see any pre-game entertainment. Walked into Dad's place just as Vanessa Amorosi butchered the last line of Advance Australia Fair, so I didn't miss out completely.

The best entertainment for the day was watching Dawson Simpson line up for the grand final sprint.

They had a previous premiership cup ceremony, all the two teams cups presented by their previous players. These "club legends" had to walk out to the centre, no real close up camera work, and it got slightly held up by some spectator slowly returning to his seat with drinks!!
How the fk did he sneak in to the "queue"??
And what was Vanessa wearing, must have been a bit chilly.

McAvaney should be commentating royal weddings and coronations. It would perfectly suit his gushing style of commentary. Outside of royal commentating, he can be plain annoying.

Well done Cats. A cracking game until 3/4 time, where the two best sides squared off.

Collingwood were eventually done by having too many walking wounded (Reid, Jolly), too many off poor preparations (Shaw, Maxwell, Thomas), too many badly out of form (Didak, Brown, Dawes) and relying on too few to do too much (Cloke, Swan, Pendles and Thomas)

Geelong are a great side, and winning 3 in 5 is a huge effort. It puts into context how good Brisbane's three in a row was if Collingwood or Geelong have not been able to defend a premiership...
