Wallacia Golf Course could be in trouble after the Panthers admitted to losing 11 million+ last year. Would be a shame as I remember a quote from one of our own that this place could be one of the best courses in Sydney if the work is completed

It is a shame indeed, as this is where I learnt the game. Lots of great memories at this place! Hopefully it can remain open in some manner?

May end up a course without a club, and then it will not last long at all. Would be good if it found an investor that would complete the redevelopment and then we would have a great course. I did see the complete plan courtesy of another OzGolf member, it looked good.

Better than a club without a course ala Camden Valley?

For sure,

The plans were awesome indeed, Ross Watson did the design.

I would like to think the club could manage on its own, however knowing the history of the type of boards that the club has I doubt it!

My Dad is a life member there.

No wonder it's going broke. I just went onto google earth to see where Wallacia is and there is a filthy big plane in the middle of the fairway just before the green!

Grunt probably brought it down.

In 2009, we saw him do a trial run on the 18th with a hawk.

I also tried to take the clubhouse out on the same hole. not sure if it was the same day though

I did not get as much backspin as I thought off the glass door on the 1st floor of the club, should have taken 5i rather than 6i and hit the glass harder.

I've chatted to a few people who either work within Panthers or the course. They claim the reports are a little exaggerated.

That said, played there today. They've got new signage up at each tee box with a simple layout of the hole plus some sponsorship ads, so that is hopefully generating some sort of revenue for them. Some strange changes with holes 8 and 15. 8 used to be a par 3, but now it's another short par 4 (270m or so) playing from what used to be the 15th tee (so there's a line of trees more or less in the firing line between the tee box and green). 15 plays off a new tee box adjacent to the 14th green and is about 240m. Same green. 10 and 13 back to short par 5s.
