OK...played today for the 1st time in about 3 weeks. Wasn't expecting much at all to be truthful. Hocko & Yoss pulled out Sunday night, which made it easier for me to convince petethepilot to share a cart, which with my foot injury was a Godsend!!!

Lake Karrinyup...80 (71). 41 front & 39 back.

1 x birdie
10 x pars
5 x bogeys
2 x doubles

Thanks guys...much needed encouragement is appreciated. Been very down on my golf lately.

Erm...no. (But he did say, on more than one occasion, how good my shaft felt)

Had 73 off the stick at mildura yesterday for +7(handicap was 11). Holed a wedge on the par 4 10th from 130 for eagle and birdied the 9th which doesn't show in the plus 7.
May get to singles yet.

37 social points at The Vines with 21 points on the back nine.

Plenty of birdie putts and a 15 foot eagle chance on 18 that just missed.

Happy though. It's been a while since I've shot a score out there.

Played Nudgee today single stab 30 points 13/17 2 wipes 7 one pointers.
The new irons went terrific, but I had some nightmares in the bunkers again and putted like a busted arse.
The highlights of the day were making birdies on the 6th (8 iron to a foot) & the 18th (chip in from just off the front)
Note to self, time to spend crap loads of time on the bunker play

2 ball corporate event yesterday Joondalup. Played the quarry lakes combo. Me and my partner won the day for our company, but it was a pretty average day of golf.

Driver was absolutely on song. I missed 1 fairway that I took driver on, and was really putting it out there. Unfortunately my iron play was f-ing rubbish. Couldn't find a rhythm, couldn't get comfortable over the ball, just didn't feel right at all.

High points, birdied 4 holes off my own stick which is massive improvement for me, even with poor iron play. As I said before, the driver was almost perfect, and my putting is still on the up. Had quite a few 1 putts for the day, and a few of these were from a range of 6 ft plus.

Got a social hit with some mates a hammersley so some range time today to see if I can work out these irons and hopefully we'll be sweet.

No driver in the bag today; it's around at Tommo's having a Harrison Shotmaker fitted... might be a lesson in this for me. Shame I probably won't learn it though; giving serious consideration to not bringing a driver down to Champs but, suspect my ego will overrule me

Millaa Millaa Open Weekend - Day One

As usual had a great time, weather was excellent, lunch was just right, and its the best I have seen their greens since I have been going for about 15 years. (This is a 9 hole course that is 100% volunteered run and worked.)

Back again tomorrow for single stroke (Today was 4BBB cumulative - I think Grumpy and I had 61 points bit was enough to beat Hodi and Moore)

Maybe the real lesson is to be way more selective on when to hit driver; not that Cairns is a long course by any stretch of the imagination but, I really did not miss it at all today and hit 70%+ fairways. Tis a much easier game when hitting ones second shot from the fairway

Thought you all might like to know I had the pleasure of a round at Barnbougle Dunes on Monday. Still yet to break par around there however (now played 4 times), this time I finished bogey, double, bogey, par for a 74. I do recall last time I was there I was under par with 4-5 holes to play and did a similar thing.

I had not played there in probably 3-4 years, it really is amazing how well the course has matured now. The fairways are mint and the greens actually roll fairly true.

No nunchuk here!

My average fairways hit from the last 20 rounds is 87%. it doesn't help with the scoring if you are still too far away to go for the green with the 2nd shot!

Since I had a pretty good day yesterday, figured I'd see if I could back up in the Sunday Stableford at Cairns GC;

83 / 74 for 34 points

FIR 6 (All on the front 9)
GIR 6
Birdies 2
Pars 6
Bogey 7
Double 3
Putts 32

Not quite so good with only the 3 wood off the tee today; pushed and pulled it around, particularly on the back 9. May have been a bit tired today - carrying my clubs at present til my Clicgear arrives. Still thinking long and hard about whether the driver will go to champs or not.

Two rounds of champs down

Fast greens and wind don't mix.... U could see balls rock, bags were rolling by themselves. There was a 10 shot difference in best gross between am & pm on Saturday.

Playing like a spaz of the tee the rest can't save it.

Sat 86 76
Sun 93 83

Snapped my 3 iron in a cotton wood on 4 today and missed it

34 points (20/14)
10/13 fairways

Boy was it windy out there!! Faded on the back few holes that were straight into the teeth of the breeze.

Pretty happy just to play two rounds back to back that were close to handicap.

The Vines Spring Cup - Lakes course (twice), 36 holes.

1st 18: 30 pts
2nd 18: 37 pts

Struggled with 5 bogies at the start. Starting on the 12th hole made things tough, especially with no warmup and facing the tough stretch of the layout. But it may have been attributable to poor iron shots on the first 18. I think I missed only three fairways but most greens with approaches. Trying to make putts from up/downs was tricky.

The irons came out better the second 18 and my game started to find it's feet. Despite a double bogey on 12, I managed to hit back with lots of pars and birdie the 14th, 7th and 8th. The putting was also much better the second 18 as on the first 18, I left at least 10 short putts out there. Three putted only once the second time around, but did it four times on the first 18. The game is almost back to where it left off in May.

They just werent coming out the middle early on. Trying to make putts from up/downs was tricky with the sneaky pin positions.

The irons came out much better the second 18 and my game started to flow and find it's feet. Despite a double bogey on 12 (played into a strong breeze), I managed to hit back hard with lots of consecutive pars and made birdies on the 14th, 7th and 8th. The putting was also much better the second 18 as on the first 18, I left at least 10 x 15 footers out there. I three putted only once on the second time around, but did it four times on the first 18. The game is almost back to where it was in May. Just need to keep the same swing for 18 holes, work on the pre shot routine and learn to concentrate a bit more on some occasions. But not bad.

The day was won by an 11 year old, who played off a 24 handicap and shot a total of 75 points for the two rounds. 6th place went back to a total of 71 pts. I had 67 pts.
