I haven't found the Whaleback greens to be majorly slow. The greens roll reasonably well there for public, just a tad slower, maybe a medium pace like maylands with a bit of slope but not much.

Hillview was looking really good two weeks ago. The greens felt like they had been rolled, as I was putting the ball off the green on the 5th and 7th!

Veeman has quite a bit of matchplay experience playing at Kwinana, and Yoss has played Wanneroo a few times, Veeman also.

So Wanneroo or Kwinana would be good choices for this semi final IMO, but it's up to big daddy V and the Yossmeister.

I don't have one. I've played a few nines at Walter shooting to cap, a few below. I've played 18 at KB shooting about 130. That is it. Not a lot of golf.

You can play off 16. Nut did it off of Nutcap. You have adjusted your cap accordingly.

Point Walter will always be an easier sort of track to gage your true cap on Yoss, kinda like going round Maylands. Even you could do 9 holes there in a few over IMHO. But this doesn't really matter anyway... the point is:

What you've said is right on. I know what it's like to not be playing much golf. Confidence and ability to execute is both a little underdone. If it was me playing you, I'd be happy for you to be playing off 18 to 16. Anything less than 16 wouldn't be fair, but you have clearly demonstrated that you are no longer in the 20's range after some good rounds at KB. I reckon about 17 would be a very honest cap for you atm, even if you were turn in an absolute blinder.

Given where everyone else has been sitting with their caps before the changes, how much they have dropped after the changes, where your game was at prior to your KB membership lapsing and your recent time away from competitions, I think 17 is a true representatation of where you'd be right now based on the changes and form. But it's up to the Mr. 'V'alboski.

This has the makings of another good match IMHO.

Veeman is even out to about a 10 hcp but judging by the way he towled up JC last month, I would have guessed he was playing off around 4 had I not known.

For a once a week player, he is one of the most consistent I've ever known.

Tee to green I reckon you can match him, but remember Veeman is deadly from inside 6ft territory and also chipping from around the greens.

It is going to be a good match up. You can get it out there off the tee and have a higher cap than he does. But Veeman's short game brings balance to the contest.

Daz is ticking all the boxes for the other match in my book.

You can beat Daz, but he's very consistent tee to green and hits a good ball for a little man.

The things in your favor are:

The extra shots you'll get as you are a lot better player when you hit a purple patch, and;

If you get that driver bombing straight on quite a few holes, and good second shots to back it up on the par 5's, you will easily be the longer hitter.

I've never played to a rear-left pin position on the 4th hole BUT I tell u what, I've stood at the front of that green many a-time and wondered how difficult it would be to get a first putt close from down on the front right, putting uphill through a funky swale. That would have to be one of the toughest first putts on the course.

Another would be the first putt from above the hole at the back part of 17th, or if you land on the wrong side of the green on the 5th.

The Vines makes you work a little, but Joondalups greens (lakes) had me 4 putting.

The way he played against JC at Hartfield, he would have towled me up 8/7.

He is consistent, knows his own game inside out and back the front.
