View Full Version : Peter_RS v BrisWesty - Round 4

BrisWesty
12th September 2011, 09:48 PM
Will this game happen? Potentially the weekend of the 24th/25th.
Will BrisWesty get a hat trick of walkovers? Hope not.
Where - Any suggested locations? Not at Caboolture; it's about to get cored.

BrisWesty
13th September 2011, 09:20 AM
Any of the following available?

Virginia, Woodford, Beerwah, Keperra, Wantima, Bribie Island?

There's that deal at Pac harbour for $49 a head (min 8 people), and a golf bag as a prize. (*conditions apply)

jaybam

Come on Pete. This is your first chance at a real game. ;)

peter_rs
13th September 2011, 10:31 AM
Happy to travel, prefer sat.

Happy with woodford, beerwah or pacific harbour.

If it's easier to get on Sunday then I'm happy to do that as well.

Are they still doing that? That'd be the pick of the venues you listed.

BrisWesty
13th September 2011, 07:52 PM
Do we have any others who want to come along for this?

peter_rs
14th September 2011, 07:44 AM
Shazza is in if u don't mind....

I don't think it's an advantage to me

Whereabouts is this being played ???

BrisWesty
14th September 2011, 11:53 AM
Still waiting on an answer re Pac Harbour.
If playing Pac Harbour -
Saturday (in the comp) - $69pp without cart, $89pp with cart
Sunday (still waiting on confirmation as to whether we can get on) - $49pp (walking?) - Potentially if we have 8 players they throw in a Taylor Made bag too.
If the bag is a goer, I'd suggest any of the following options for that. Prize for the best score of the day, or do a draw and pull a name out of the hat on the day, or we put it towards a prize at the Ozgolf champs.

peter_rs
14th September 2011, 12:32 PM
If we could get 8 PH would be fine.

I guess the other option is if Troy can get us on north lakes

BrisWesty

How much would North Lakes be?

BrisVegas
14th September 2011, 01:06 PM
$55

BrisWesty
16th September 2011, 04:01 PM
Pete, not feeling the love from Pac Harbour. Left a couple of messages and they haven't come back to me.

I'm home alone next weekend, so am not tied into family activities. I can give Beerwah or Woodford a call to see whether they have any vacancies in the field for next Saturday (plus it depends on whether they've cored the greens recently and the type of game too).

North Lakes is an option too.

Even happy to go south side now.

BrisWesty
16th September 2011, 05:16 PM
Spoke too soon. 9:08 on Sunday 25th. Room for 8 or 12 people.

peter_rs
16th September 2011, 07:45 PM
Sunday is fine

Carbrook is the only south option

If u get the rate regard less of group size then that sounds fine for the ph... Are their greens not done yet?

BrisWesty
16th September 2011, 09:45 PM
I'm happy to do Carbrook if Pac H falls through.

BrisWesty
19th September 2011, 01:05 PM
Update - Playing Carbrook 12 noon on Sunday 25/9/11. Group of 4 booked.

1. Peter RS
2. BrisWesty
3. Shazza RS?
4. ??

AndyP
19th September 2011, 01:17 PM
I won't be offended if you say no, but I can get a 4 on Wolston Park at around 7am, instead of playing a midday round (which I personally try to avoid).

peter_rs
19th September 2011, 05:44 PM
Social or comp

AndyP
19th September 2011, 05:48 PM
Either. Comp is available then and would make it cheaper.

BrisWesty
19th September 2011, 06:18 PM
I'm happy with comp.

peter_rs
19th September 2011, 06:19 PM
How much comp/social?

What is the comp?

AndyP
19th September 2011, 06:30 PM
How much comp/social?Our site lists the comp as $16, it may be up to $19. I'm not sure, I never have to pay it or the social fee.

What is the comp?Single stableford.

BrisWesty
19th September 2011, 07:11 PM
Lock it in Andy!

AndyP
19th September 2011, 07:19 PM

peter_rs
19th September 2011, 07:59 PM
Just worried how much this short track may suit a bunter... After all look how well u play it ;)

AndyP
19th September 2011, 08:03 PM
I only play it well now because I play it every week. It took me a year.

peter_rs
19th September 2011, 08:12 PM
Plenty of time then

BrisWesty
20th September 2011, 11:10 AM
Pete, so are we good for Sunday at AndyP's home track?

peter_rs
20th September 2011, 11:55 AM
Have you played there before Mark?

I PM andy to ask if the greens were in good condition, waiting on the reply

AndyP
20th September 2011, 12:02 PM
The greens aren't as good as they were earlier in the year, but they are okay. They aren't all the same type of grass and one of the greens is a temp POS, but the ball tends to go in the direction that I've hit it.

Johnny Canuck
20th September 2011, 12:04 PM
No wonder you guys can't play any matches.

Make sure you check the weather, the tides, the barometric pressure and anything else that could have an adverse effect before agreeing to play.

peter_rs
20th September 2011, 12:05 PM
what hole has a temp green?

sweet that would take out two of the bunkers on the course.

BrisVegas
20th September 2011, 12:20 PM
If you guys play at Wolston Park, then leave the driver at home Pete. First time I played it, against P in matchplay actually, I hit the ball ok, but got caught out a few times when driver was just too much club. Found myself running through fairways and ending up in that awkward distance too close to greens. A solid hybrid or long iron off the tee is plenty of club in most cases.

AndyP

Leave the driver at home Pete

timah!
22nd September 2011, 03:00 PM
Why? There are some good holes that would benefit a longer hitter off the tee: 4, 7, 15, 17, 18...

jaybam
22nd September 2011, 03:08 PM
15 th? Short dog leg right. Never take driver there.

Jarro
22nd September 2011, 03:08 PM
He'll hit hybrid far enough there anyway ... why risk it by lashing out with the big dog ?

peter_rs
22nd September 2011, 03:13 PM
Driver is the saftey club.

I'm wait on AP's old course notes

AndyP
22nd September 2011, 03:14 PM
15 th? Short dog leg right. Never take driver there. For most hitters anyway. Driver is the club for me, as long as I don't pull it.

Jarro
22nd September 2011, 03:17 PM
Pete, if you hit anything longer than hybrid you are ripping yourself off.

You'll still be hitting after Westy ;)

AndyP
22nd September 2011, 04:16 PM
But Pete says the driver is performing better than hybrid, so why wouldn't he use driver on the holes that he can?

peter_rs
22nd September 2011, 05:10 PM
Or that hybrid is bad

BrisWesty
22nd September 2011, 06:15 PM
Pete, if you hit anything longer than hybrid you are ripping yourself off.

You'll still be hitting after Westy ;)

Oh Jarro, I thought you were MY friend. ;-)
.But you're right, I'll be hitting second shots first most of the time.

AndyP
22nd September 2011, 06:49 PM
That's not necessarily a disadvantage in matchplay.

peter_rs
22nd September 2011, 06:57 PM
Westy last time we played u were long enough.... The big issuse was how straight it was

What putter do u have now?

Ap did u look at the indexes today where does mark get his 3 shots

BrisWesty
22nd September 2011, 07:02 PM
Same putter Pete.

According to the oracles we don't need drivers on Sunday!

Jarro
22nd September 2011, 07:05 PM
I still love you Westy ;)

AndyP
22nd September 2011, 07:05 PM
I didn't play today unfortunately, not that I'd use a card.
Standard index is 4, 8 and 12 isn't it?

Pete didn't play to the standards he can, but he finished the 18 strongly.

I played to par, from 5-11, plus had a shot on 8, so that was pretty tough for Pete to make headway there.

No hole by hole rundown or summary?

peter_rs
28th September 2011, 01:29 PM
Westy played well.

I made dumb mistakes at bad times.

1-not calling a Provisionial -1
2- 0
3-+1
4- just a bad hole when westy had a shot.0
5-Westy drained a long putt -1
6-went long when there was no room -1
7-miss judged where westy hit his second, so I went for to much -2
8- just a bad hole when westy had a shot. -3
9-crap shot selection for the chip, westy proved trees are 90% air -4
10-Westy was to good -5
11-Wrong side of a crap temp green, Westy was to good -6
12-Missed a chance for a win when westy made a mistake -6
13-poor swing, westy finished strong. -7

14-18 I played better as the holes were longer.

It was a good win to westy I was always going to strugle on a short course if my game was not on.

Johnny Canuck
28th September 2011, 02:55 PM
If my game isn't on, I prefer a short course. Easier to hit 5 irons than drivers.

What happened on 1? Did he call you on not saying provisional or did you fail to hit 1?

peter_rs
28th September 2011, 03:34 PM
It's because of my swing I find i hit more greens with 3-8 then 9-lw

My tee shots were fine in general alot of the holes are 280-330 on the front so I had a lot of sub 120m shots all but two tee shots were effective ;)

On one we talked about the oob line and I hit right of it (10+m) so I reloaded we got up there and there was a stake no one could see that put my ball in.

peter_rs
28th September 2011, 03:38 PM
On 9 I was about 2m short for one westy hit the green from the trees for 2 and i tried to chip a little 9 and bladed over the green

Westy played well I made the mistakes

1 - If Pete had called provisional it would have been interesting.
2 - Pete got a good bounce out of a tree, and I hit into the trees off the tee. I scrambled a bogey to Pete's par.
3 - Pete went over the back off the tee. I played crap for a double bogey.
4 - We were equally crap, but my crap double bogey beat Pete's crap double bogey courtesy of a shot.
5 - I got up and down for par. Pete didn't.
6 - Both had a chance for par but didn't get it. Bogeys apiece.
7 - I got a regulation par on this, Pete ended up a bit right and didn't get back into the hole.
8 - shared bogeys. Pete's chip took off when it landed (shouldn't have) and ended up behind the green.
9 - No way I should have won this hole. Pete was just off the front and I was in the left trees about 90m out. Hit through the trees onto the green. Ridiculous par for me. Bad chip for Pete = bogey.
4 up at the turn.

10 - Birdie 2 for me. Pete doesn't equal it.
11 - Birdie 3 for me, to Pete's par. 2 birds in a row is a bit mean.
12 - Neither of us did really well here, but courtesy of a shot, my 6 = Pete's 5.
13 - 2 putt par for me. 2 putt bogey for Pete. Game over.
