Don't let them bully you into playing hocko. On the other hand perhaps your just not sacrificing enough to post a round. Get on the email and phone and see if you can book a round somewhere. But only if you really want to.

Played at Reddy Bay this morning. Played ok, didn't feel like a great round, but had 20/20 40points. So I scored well, without hitting it very solid. I had 1 wipe.

Stats:

Nice scoring Iain. I had the opposite problem, hit the ball quite well but just could not score.

I played a round at Cairns this morning with Haysey, Solarman & the reigning club champ (who also happens to be Haysey's cousin - it is apparent that golfing ability does not run in the family ;)).

All things considered, I'm quite happy with this round. I didn't do anything particularly well, but was able to avoid any blow-outs. It just would have been nice for a few more putts to drop.

Played yesty in the shit drizzle at Royal Kogarah.
38 PT'S with 1 wipe, pretty happy with that.
Had 2 up in a Par round on sat also so things are on the up!
Getting used to the i15's now, but havnt got the lofts adjusted yet so that will help.
Prob only hit 4-5 f/w's over the last 2 rounds, so there is an issue there!

Played at Royal Gordonvale this afternoon with Haysey & Solarman.

I started with a birdie and it was all downhill from there. I was swinging like a mong for the most part, couldn't even put chip shots close to the middle of the face. Somehow scrambled enough to rescue a score on the second (front) nine.

I took my 7 year old to the course today, and he finally showed some enthusiasm for it. He reckoned he had the game figured out by the time we played our last hole. He walked and carried his bag for 10 holes too (4 clubs). Now that footy season is finished I'm hoping he plays a little more and improves. I've got no idea how to instruct him, so I might have to look at taking him to a clinic at Oxley Driving Range or junior group lessons at McLeod.

I hit too many shanks to bother reporting anything else on my game.

2 Ball Ambrose today in Mackay. 67 off the stick. 63 nett. Not even close to winning. I think there was a 59 nett in when we left. I played with my son and we had 16 handicap combined. (me 4, son 12)

Had an interesting one yesterday. Missed putts of 4' on 1, 6' on 2 and 3' on 3. Made a few pars and birdies until 13 where I had 50m in to the par 5 and hit a socket, took bogey, missed a 2' putt on the next for birdie, missed a 3' putt for par on the next and finished birdie birdie for a grand tally of -2.

Pretty dissapointing to shoot -2 with 7 birides.

You should try having 5 birds in a round and still finishing over par! The realities of being a hacker!

20/08/2011, Wolston Park GC, 4 person ambrose.

1 eagle.
11 birdies.
6 pars.

Scoring bbbbPbePb PbPbbbPPb
Score: 27-27-54 nett 48.5 (Par 35-32-67 ACR 65)

Oxy (19) and I (10) played in an ambrose event this morning with two other guys (7 and 8). The other two have both competed in long drive events before, so we played some holes from places we weren't used to, like greenside chipping on holes 1 and 2.

We started on the toughest hole on 17, but went on a birdie streak after that, which set up our round. There wasn't much that we did wrong as a team, even the pars were respectable. I took my usual role in these events as the first to hit off, and kept putting it on the middle of the fairway, allowing the others to go for it. I was happy with how I played.

Everyone contributed to our good score, and our compulsory 3 tee shots were used with holes to spare and without making a sacrifice. Oxy nailed a few ripper putts including the one that got us the eagle. It made for a fun day and we should win gross, if not nett as well.

Next round: OZgolf round at Nudgee on Wednesday.

First round club camps at Pine Rivers

45 /43 = 88 (69 nett) 6 off gross leader in c grade as I left. Still the afternoon field to come in so not expecting to remain near the top.

up and down round went like this

1 Bird
6 Pars
7 Bogeys
4 others

33 Putts, So 5 holes after the turn killed me and nearly dropped the round but held on to finish last 5 holes in even par!

First round at rocko in a comp round today. Live and learn I suppose.

Put myself in some trouble early on, purely by taking more club than what was needed, and sent the reedy of the round not taking enough. I really need to work on my short game, chipping, pitching etc were absolutely atrocious. Ball striking is significantly better than before, from driver through to 9i. Wedges need some work on the full shots.

Putting was good today. I've settled in the knowledge I'm never going to be a brilliant putter, but 1 3 jack for the round isn't a bad effort for me.

I'm excited to be back out on the course consistently. And for the WAnkers, this fits the rocko story: played with 3 blokes all equal to about 3 Tourfits in size. Tee off at 8.17 exactly. First bloke has his shot, walks back to the cart and cracks the first VB at 8:19. Then tells us the wife made him take up some sport to loose weight. So he plays golf, and takes a cart to play every week.

I was surprised to get a Saturday game at Camden Lakeside today after a very wet Friday and overnight. If the rest of Sydney got the rain we did there won't be many courses playing.

I sort of wished we didn't play either. I played awful for 27 points, and I suspect considerable damage was done to the course through buggy and foot traffic over very wet ground.

It was a condition that was discussed with the new handicapping system. If you had a certain number of NCRs, your cap could be rendered invalid until you played a certain number of rounds.

Seeing as how you were batting about 25% on NCRs qt Kennedy Bay, it could be a possibility.

I hit one fairway all morning! The weather was fairly ordinary at 7 am this morning, And the two blokes i played with were in a cart and seemed like they needed to be somewhere by 10am. They both shot over 110 too. I dont think this helped my game today!

I bit the bullet and tried a round at Mt Lawley on Sat morning...last week before Champs, which I am well & truly OUT of.

Finally played decent golf for a change. Still hampered by the foot, but didn't seem to be quite as bad. Tried VERY hard to just concentrate on each shot & not worry about the pain!

The greens were lethal (running at 12'+ at the minute), and caught me out a few times, especially on the 1st putt. I hit a lot of good 2nd putts, but generally was disappoint overall with my work on the greens. Haven't played much and come back to greens like that a few weeks out from Champs...what else did I expect?

Anyway had 34pts, was OK off the tee and was really solid with my iron play. Dropped by 0.2, which is the first downward movement (NO HOMO) in about 6 comp rounds!

Now to take a small break for Champs, and beat Adlo at the Matchplay.

Great round idgolfguy (44pts) and tough luck hocko in Kwinana champs, after giving it your best shot on sat/sun.

K-Town set up in championships with quick greens and less run would be test at this time of year, so don't be too hard on yourself. Even tougher for us folk that normally only play once a week.

TourFit, sounds like you are also getting it back with 34pts at ML. I hope the foot gets better soon.

JC, streaky golf is sometimes the best us once-a-week golfers can manage, but when the stakes are raised you seem to always find a way to rise to the challenge. Just pretend it's a skins game and your playing for $$$... you can take it to the very top a-grade harty 'hotshots'. Making a good start IMO is what will help you the most and your experience can bring it home.
