Can it be anything, I am thinking of donating the Adams Idea Pro 4h Hybrid if it doesn't sell by the end of the week.

The general directive for prize donations is:
Would I be happy if I received this as a prize?

Don't use it as a way of dumping stuff you can't get rid of. No one else really wants those KMart balls you won't ever use.
There have been special awards of 'junk' like Ho of the Champs - but that fitted the spirit of the award.

Be nice to your fellow Ozgolfers.

Yes, as Bruce said. This comes up every year. Like many, I prefer just to pay an extra $10 a round and put that towards a cash prize for the winner. If he/she chooses to shout the bar with then winnings, then everyone wins!

I agree with both Bruce & Dion on this one. It's one giant pain in the butt (my job last year) trying to organise donated prizes to suit.
If everyone just put in an extra $10 problem solved and no stuffing around.

Put me down to cover Ho of the year again with something stupid but appropriate and i will figure out a real prize later.

I thought that was the idea of the $20 deposit, $10 for prizes and $10 for the venue hire charge?

NAGA is happy to give his undeserved trophy back to a worthy recipient...this time.

I was considering something like a few bottles of FNQ Mango wine... would that be in keeping with the spirit of prizes that are easy to award...

I happily drink the stuff, it's actually quite nice and is representative of FNQ or would it be easier alround to just donate cash?

I will donate the OZ GOLF Champs trophy.

However, I will have to take it back for another year going back to back winner!!!!!!!

2/ Six bottles of Mount View Estate red wine.
I'm happy to make it 8 bottles and put one on each NTP.

(The home wine accumulation to drinking ratio now has reached 4:1. I'd prefer to share the 2004/2005 stuff, than run the risk of leaving it too long.)

OK people with the Champs only a bit over 5 weeks away, what is the feeling about prizes this year?
There has been little or no discussion up until this point, so what is the best option?
I believe vouchers or money are the go, discuss.

"Ho of the Champs"

Just a note to remind myself that I have today procured a suitable prize again for this highly competitive award, and have made a slight change, it is now to be called "Ho(mo) of the Champs" to provide some more flexible options in determining who is the biggest Ho(mo).

Only realised that this thread is pretty empty unlike in previous years. Whilst not a place to unload all your crap, valid donations are appreciated.

$10.00 from the green fees is going towards major prizes (novelty holes, winner and runner up etc) which leaves about 40 people who will miss out. C'mon people, it's not too late..

1. Six bottles of Mount View Estate red wine - Dotty
2. Callaway promo bag (headcover, ball marker etc) - Shavey

Has there been a prize for the matchplay winner in the past?Yes, there has been something awarded from the prize pool, but it doesn't have to be anything major.

BrisVegas

The matchplay is all but irrelevant this year. Not like the good old days when AndyP used to win it.

BrisVegas
10th October 2011, 09:40 AM
would a $10 each day work if I gave an account number to throw the coin in beforehand ? Its a hard slog collecting coin off 40-50 punters.
Plus it seriously diminishes my practice process.

pfft, half the fun is chasing you down to pay you the punt money. As if you practice anyway....

I'd like to donate this. It has a little bit of sentimental history, but I'd like to see it have some within our group.

If we can find something to award it for, then great.

The prize donations are nice, BUT didn't we decide on the comp fee to avoid the logistical issues that go with organising and distributing the prizes.

Just make it so that any one who donates a prize has to distribute it themselves.

I think we are best to do what Blakey said. Donations don't always make it to the event.
