So did tiger play half decent today or did he chop it up like in round 1 and putting saved his bum.

In his post round interview, he was somewhat critical of his putting. He also talked about how he is longer than he used to be & how he's very close to "having it on a string".

BrisVegas

I got up at 4am to watch this and saw I'd missed Scott and Tiger's rounds. Watched Day for a abit and he's a solid as ever. Rory couldn't buy a putt. Lost interest eventually, so went back to bed at 5:30 or so. Can only stand so much Mickelson. At least Faldo was getting stuck into Phil on the commentary about how much food he put away at dinner the night before. Those two really don't like each other.

Awesome stuff by Scott. Thought he was going to hole his approach on 18.

Feel a bit sorry for Day, he just couldn't seem to get it going with the putter at the end. You could see he was disappointed with the putt on 18, it was Yoss-like.

Funny stuff from Stevie at the end, most megalomaniac caddy ever? Lucky for Scott he is a good front runner and could drive him home like one of his race cars. I'm not saying the caddy role is not very important but gee he might have said how nice Scott played or something. I hope the Tiger/Williams melodrama doesn't get in the way of Scott's golf.

Note Adam's comment in his post game interview where he said he had enjoyed the past few weeks with Steve. Didn't sound like a firm tone of commitment to me.

Steve came across as a total ratbag, he needed to just decline the interview and walk away. The result was as a good as a slap on the cheek to Tiger.

Pretty unfair on Tiger. For all his faults he's always spoken highly of Williams and has said many times they're a great team and credited much of his success to his caddie. Until Williams' rant this morning the world thought the split was amicable
Williams carried on about being a good front runner, whether it's car racing or golf. Easy to say when you're carrying the bag for the best golfer in history and with the resultant cash can buy all the best go-fast bits for your car.

I think Williams needs to remember his place, that he is an employee with a job to do, and to think before he speaks. He is representing AS and to give an interview like that, at that time, shows disrespect and immaturity.

I understand his need to put shit on Tiger but his excitement at AS win was enough to do that. Leave the interviews for another time or write the book.

Good on you Steve. At least you had the balls to stand up to the arrogant philandering control freak that Eldrick has shown himself to be. TW's fans will lap up the statements about how he almost has the ball on a string, which he then follows up with 29 and 36% driving accuracy over the weekend but he won't win another major and I couldn't care less.

Golf's future looks pretty good when you have Scott, Day, McIlory, Fowler and Ishikawa all in the Top 10 at Firestone. And, you can be sure that they'll know that going out and banging cocktail waitresses and porn stars while promoting the family guy image is not the most intelligent thing that they should do.

Steve is the best caddy and he has earned the right to voice his opinion. Here's a post from another golf related forum which in part explains why he is the best:

"I have been involved at the Bridgestone for years and used to run caddie hospitality for years (which basically meant taking care of everything in their air conditioned tent by the first tee). Stevie was always very nice, but quiet and did not interact with others much. I was told that was Tiger's rule - he did not want any of his representatives saying anything or hanging out with other Tour people. Stevie was extremely family oriented, having his wife and her father and mother travel with him. All of them were extremely nice people and I would imagine that they did not take well to Tiger's scandals.

I don't know what the inside story is between Tiger and him, but Stevie definitely seemed a lot happier this year. Although I am not as involved with the tournament, he was much more talkative and friendly. He approached many of us that he knew through the years and thanked us for everything in the past and had real conversations about his and our families.

Re: how much help he was. Stevie knows the greens at Firestone better than most players. He always spent days befor the tournament studying the greens and their breaks. The greens at FCC are extremely subtle and you need to have "local" knowledge to know the slight breaks on some of the putts. I have to think that Stevie was invaluable on the greens. He likely had nothing to do with tee to green as Firestone is pretty straight forward there, but the greens, yes."

timah!

Weren't they saying the Stevie talked Scott into hitting 5W off the 18th tee in R4? Or are those SW clubs?? ;)

LMAO! They did say that actually, this is the official winning clubs from golf.com, maybe he had a club or two interchangable for the week. Maybe they are wrong too

I thought the story was he talked him into hitting a 6 iron at the flag on 18?

Have you not read the Tigers Gawwwwn thread? Adam Scott and Tiger Woods are mindless, talentless hacks who couldn't win anything without the genius of Steve on their bag. It's obvious all of those stories about the shots on 18 are true because Steve did all the work.

But that's just a given, Tiger, Sharkie, Scott etc would be nothing without NZ's highest paid "sportsman", did you know he is a great front runner by the way?

He has the same speech writer as his sisters, Venus and Serena.

Five wood (to take ALL trouble out apparently) to a certain sprinkler head at 196 so he could then hit 6 iron in.

I feel I can take just as much credit for the win as Stevie can.

Waaay back on 21st June, 2009 I wrote this;
... and Adam Scott will never contend in a major until he can consistently sink 6 ft putts. He should try a broomstick or belly or something. What he's doing just isn't working. Surely he can see that.

Scott obviously reads ozgolf and it's good to see he took my advice.

Adam, you're welcome.

Granted the WGC isn't a major but I think he's a better chance now than ever to win one.

Tee to green he's always been one of the best in the game but an atrocious putter. He's 6th on tour in scrambling this year. That's pretty amazing.

Was good to see Adam Scott get his first win on the board. It is a tough gig on the PGA and some never get to crack the winners list. I am easily motivated by others actions and it is heartening to see this fella get the points. As for the caddy speaking really don't care. No different to the mouths that speak in footy that are on the periphery to the on field action as players. That is part of the the price which comes from media coverage moneys paid into sports.

You watched golf over the last 8 years? He's on the 'winners list' in Europe/Asia/Australia and 8 times in USPGA.....

Lies, damned lies & statistics Kpac. You know very well he has underachieved for a person of his talent.

Exactly. Kent, the bloke has never won anything before. How could he, he's never had Steve and his "killer instinct" on the bag before this.

23 wins around the world by age 31, you sure we are the ones not judging him harshly?

Granted he has not performed as we would of hoped in majors, but he is still putting together a pretty decent career. Winning majors is not easy, look at some of the golfers who have never won one.

How many majors would Colin Montgomerie have won if only he had Steve on the bag? :)

If John Morse had SW on his bag, he would have 13 majors by now.
