Couldn't see a new one for this week. So here we go!

Good to find some form today. I have been lacking, for quite some time now. Just a shame about the horror stretch the 8, 9 and 10; but good to finish with 8 straight pars.

Still not good enough to stop me going out another .1 to 6.8.

It was actually 33 points. Had my handicap as 6 in Golfshot.

Golfshot still thinks you are a chopper and is trying to help you blow out quicker.

The new handicap system will prevent me playing off your current handicap for at 3 years. :)

very contrasting nines there.. most people would be happy with 29 putts so the putter seems to be working.. Looking at your scorecard looks like the iron approach shots were a bit off the mark.. very nice last 8 holes as you say.

At least the misses with driver are consistent.

Stats can be a little deceiving sometimes. I had 5 holes where I was just off the green, on the fringe. So my GIR would be alot higher but so would my putts.

1st Rd of City of Cairns 54 hole Tournament today:

Not great but, not too bad for 84 / 75

Couple of rank shots and yet again very ordinary putting prevented a much better result:

FIR 10
GIR 8
Birdy 0
Par 8
Bogey 8
Double 2
Putts 36

Hopefully a solid second round will see me not too far down the Nett Leaderboard for A Grade... This tournament really requires 3 near hcp rounds or slightly better to be in with a chance

2nd Rd City of Cairns 54 hole Tournament:

Managed to avert a complete disaster today; Turned at 10 over after 9 holes, finished at 10 over after 18 holes. In actual fact shot 2 over for 15 holes and 8 over for 3 holes.....

FIR 11
GIR 8
Birdy 2
Par 9
Bogey 4
Double 1
Triple 2
Putts 32 (only 13 putts on the second 9)

Sitting 3 shots off the pace for A grade Nett honours; with a solid round tomorrow it's not beyond the realm of probability... just gotta focus, relax, enjoy the round and see what happens

Mate, couldn't agree more.... 5hrs 20 is disgustingly slow....

I wasn't here for our club champs but, typically stroke rounds are painfully slow at Cairns. That said, two morning rounds of this tournament have been exceptionally good so far; 4hrs 20 yesterday & 4hrs 15 this morning. Very pleasantly surprised although there are ball spotters & other members on the course that are probably keeping things ticking along

Shot 81 today, which is par. Hit 1 fairway all day which really, really hurt. The driver and I are not friends. Low duck hooks all day....Every hole I had to manufacture a shot through trees etc to keep it together. So frustrating when you feel like you are hitting it well but, don't give yourself the chance to hit greens in reg. First round with the mizzies and they get the tick of approval, even more now the rifle shafts are installed. Short game was pretty good, 28 putts with a 3 jiggle.

H/cap Change: +0.1 to 9.5. Back to double figures :( , and well on the way to 11.

Iron shots suck. I got on a roll nearly making it 3 birdies in a row, but the irons went back to being horrid quickly after that.

Next round: Something midweek, and maybe next Saturday.

For the second time ever in my life, walked off the course without finishing... Weather was somewhat drizzly but, that wasn't the problem, just the icing on the cake

Opening Holes:

Double, Double, Quadruple, Quadruple.... walk off in disgust and before I became a pain in the butt to my playing partners....

Two drives wildly sliced into hazards, take penalty drop and promptly shank back into the hazard, twice in two holes!!!!

Putting.... no idea really, wasn't paying much attention to that after what preceded reaching the green... Time to quickly forget that stretch of holes.... forever

Dazzgolf - nice shootin, don't worry about the 'choke' just enjoy hell out of the 73

Thinking of taking an extended break from comp as I would rather go for a one hour or so bike ride than spent 4 hours plus on the golf course. Played yesterday stroke monthly medal and was never in it from the start had 4 triples offset a little by 3 birdies for 88/75.

A social hit at Shell Cove off the blues. A bit of everything...mostly in the average to bad range. For the life of me I couldn't get my approaches into the sort of range where I could do anything other than 2 or 3 putt.

Course? Not too bad...there was about 50mm of rain last night and was damp in places, so not much run. Carried my drive on the 16th about 260m and found a divot about 15cm to the right of where the ball ended up.

Greens are a tad slow and looked a little patchy, but otherwise the course is looking good.

Played Secret Harbour today with a mate...18 holes, cart, range balls and a pint of Stella for $25 (SCOOPON rules!)

Also gamed the Tour Issue Project X 6A3 shaft in my driver for the first time (and had the 7A4 in the 3W also).

Had five birdies for the day, lipped out for an eagle on the Par 5 12th after hitting 7 iron in for my 2nd... and an almost ace on 14 (pitch mark was 2" right of hole and ball finished 2" left).

I ended up still getting beat by my mate...2 &1. I missed a 3ft putt on 16 for the half and him to go 1up, and then hit a perfect 4 iron on 17 to give me 99m left. One of the guys we joined up with on the 10th tee, then walked up and hit MY ball into the drink while I was in the cart over at my mates ball. I get to where it was, and he said "Oh, I think I just hit your ball...sorry". Nice new Z-Star X. My mate had gone long into the back bunker, and I was in A1 position to hit it close. So after my new pill had gotten wet, I dropped another and then in my backswing the same guys' phone goes off and I hit it fat and into the piss as well. FAAAARK!!! My mate almost flubs his SW from the trap that rolls down the slope to 6"...it was the ONLY way he could have gotten it close.

Then I get up on 18 and hit it 270 down the middle and then a wedge to 3ft for birdie #5. Game was all over by then though. He had to give me a shot on the hole too.

F**kin' public course hackers...gotta love 'em! We'd been stuck behind two twats (in a cart) all day before we joined another 2 ball on 10 to try and let them get away. They ended up holding up the fourball too.

I was down at the club today to continue trying to get my form back with the irons after my break. It has ruined my last two rounds, and I just need to get them closer to the green to score better.

In the clubhouse, I decided to look at the scores that qualified, assuming I would have missed out by a mile since I scored so badly. I now wish I hadn't. 158 qualified in 8th place.

Ouch! I'm still stinging from it.

AndyP

That's what makes me a bit dirty. A bad round a couple of months ago before the illness would have still seen me qualify.

OZgolf Champs and 36 hole foursomes will have to be the golf goals for the year now.
