okay, I think I have found a thread that hasn't been used ever/for some time...

I can't get my head around the prices commanded for Scotty Cameron headcovers. I can understand the fascination and agree that some designs look pretty cool but please... at what price??
I am looking for three part ansers, (sic..sorry ping man, force of habit)
#1. most you have spent on a SC cover
#2. most you would be prepared to pay for a rare cover
#3. what is the attraction

I have a headcover that came with my specially stamped Scotty Newport, I think the whole jobby with grip was just under $500.

I only bought it though with some cash my grandparents left me, so I had Scotty stamp Nana on one bumper and Pop on the other 8)

I bought my first lot of Scotty covers for $125 the pair.

I would spend a bit more if I had a putter that warranted it.

I like the uniqueness of some of the aftermarket covers.

If you spend that much on a cover, shouldn't you get a cover for the cover?

I collected Scotty head covers for a while. Spent a lot of money on them through the years.
Then I just got over it. Still have about 10 headcovers a few rare ones, but I game most of them now as that's what they are meant for.
Paid 420 for a cover once, sold it 1 year later for the same price, it was nice to look at...through the plastic ha.
Wouldn't pay anymore then that, except maybe for a tour rat.
It was fun collecting them, as some are very rare and pretty cool looking, and they look great in your bag.
As titleist said, the guys on cameron collector are pretty insane with headcover collecting, and most of them stay in a sealed bag never opened!!

I have 4 Scotty head covers, all on my Scotty putters. I only bought 1 separate to a putter and that was $50 (I think, maybe it was $30, buggered if I can remember), BUT, I would not spend a stack of money on a headcover, unless it was attached to a putter.

I have a few.
They are a complete waste of money and space.
Yet I have a few and seem to buy more on occasions of weakness.
These ones are a bit dodgy, but I'll double my money when I eventually sell them.

Not even a fake one you would never have received anyway? That's disappointing.

#2. If one really took my fancy 60/$80 I guess
#3. Just protection to stop bag chatter etc, I take mine off during a round.

Expensive covers say .......Steal Me !

I briefly had a SC Buttonback and I put an old cover on it to play as I didn't want it walking after the round etc. Indro is a dodgy place after all! :D

I 'm also part of the TCC here in OZ and have has experience with SCHC. These guys are serious about there collection. Not too fussed unless it's a rare one off. The annual event is here on the GC next month and they'll have a custom GC HC for the event .

Sold the Napa HC to deflect attention of the LTD putter and used a normal SC HC.

1. $50 for a 2003 Peace sign headcover (in 2003) I use it to this day & apparently it's worth more than my squareback (as if?!?)
2. $50.
3. Liked the design.

I have an unused, in bag 03 Cameron Club cover with stickers & badge somewhere in the shed. Again I'm stunned that these sell for $300. Dreamers.

I was gunna go, but have had to scratch. First one I've missed.
Last years cover was cool. One of the guys sold one onliine during the weekend for about $400 odd if I remember right.
Paid about $225 or something for it with a SC putter. I kept mine.

L.L don't understand your question?

Lagerlover
10th March 2013, 08:26 AM
Sorry L, now I'm "rested", I'll try again..

Really want a scotty headcover for my golo, but if I got one I would try to find someone to replace the velcro with magnets.

If this couldn't be done without looking like my 5 year old did it, I would probably get a custom one done.

Looking for advice on who would do a proper magnet strip, (like the anser cover).

Failing that, I may need to go to the company that did the recent ozgolf putter covers, can't remember her name.

Lager,

The Ozgolf head overs are very cool, we may be able to get a couple made if you want to go a group buy with me, let me know and I will contact Courty about the details for the mob that made them.

Going to go with Delilah's putter covers. Got a couple of ideas.

Got a chuckle out of this one she did for a customer...

Its been done before and found some pics.
Id say find a spotlite/crafts store, a cheap clothing/alteration shop and for $10 and youd be happy...
