Not a comp round so it won't count if it goes in.

Wouldn't they be better off just giving the 100 g's to the make a wish foundation.

stupid hole for it too. No chance of seeing the ball go in as the green is 5-10m higher than the fairway.

They would've been better using the 5th hole .... much more picturesque 8)

I guess it makes it more difficult...... they don't really want to give away the dough I assume.

It'd cost less to insure.

hole in one insurance is very expensive, last time I arranged any it was over a grand to insure a $15k car with a field of 96 amatuers.

That's ridiculously expensive considering the odds of it actually happening.

Who would have thought that an insurance company would pay under the odds?

It's certainly not a 15:1 chance of getting a hole in one... right?

148m with what 1.5 clubs of elevation? So the majority are hitting 6iron or more into it. To make it even harder you have a green with some serious contours. 240 players = SFA chance of having to dish out $100k.

Many of the sponsors for the hole in one prize decided to take the risk rather than pay the insurance. Also required an independent spotter for the day, even though it was a Pro Am with the professional golfer there to verify any hole in one.

About 2000 to 1 on the tour for the Pros and I believe about 30/40,000 to 1 for amateurs.

There was a HIO prize last year at Mareeba. A Mitsubishi Lancer. I don't like Lancers so i missed on porpoise.

That's per individual player though, right? I wonder what it would be per field of 100 players, for instance.

Regardless, it's a shitload more than 15:1.
