View Full Version : Resolved OZgolf = Slow?
AndyP

Is the forum slow in comparison to other websites?
At the moment I am on a wireless modem and I'm really noticing that the forum is slow. When Facebook loads faster than here it is a concern. I have switched to the 'Lightweight' style with more success now, but is the forum really that bad?
Feedback please.

I can't even load pages properly half the time from this wireless modem, but then load up the Facebook or Herald Sun footy page fine. I don't get it.
Anyway, I'm glad it's not a global issue. I wouldn't want people to be turned away from the forum because of it.

Speed on Chrome is slow, on IE9 it is almost dead.
Funny thing is one forum I use does not work at all on Chrome any more and is great on IE9 but the opposite is true for here.
They both use V bulletin, cant see the version number at the bottom of the other forum though.

I reported to the hosts that the site appears slow to users at times and pages don't load during multi-tab browsing sometimes.
I've been looking into the issue as you have reported it and at this time I'm not able to replicate the condition you describe.
I've been surfing around the forums section of your site specifically, and each page is loading quickly for me.
I've also taken a look at the server in which your domain is hosted, and I see that the server is under very low load:
# uptime
19:36:32 up 26 days, 18:59, 1 user, load average: 0.45, 0.52, 0.65
This server is a newer server with 16 CPU cores and as such, should be able to handle loads into the 30's without causing any potential service disruption.

Not that I use my computer for browsing that much, but I get the intermittent hangs as well. Some times I just have to go to another site for a while and give ozg a few minutes to start responding. But I'm mostly on tapatalk and it's fine so I can't say how often it's happening. But I'd guess at least 10 to 20% of the time I'm on here on my laptop. The rest of the time it seems normal.

I've put you in the Test Group to test that theory, Goldy. Countdown ticker no more.
The "What's New" hung on me this morning Andy. But it's okay at the moment. I'll update if it starts playing up again.

I know you don't care, but for what it's worth, it has improved there of late. Used to be bloody terrible.
As I said earlier - it's like the sites have swapped response times lately.
