View Full Version : Attaching SureShot to Motocaddy S1- any suggestions?

Guys,

I was wondering if anyone has overcome this little issue.

I clip my SureShot to the handle on the front my golf bag during a round but it can be a pain, walking around the front of the buggy & bag each time to get a distance read. It'd be much more efficient to have the gps facing me as I'm walking behind the buggy.

Motocaddy don't seem to have an accessory to cater for it and SureShot only has an accessory made for MGI buggies. I've tried it before & it doesn't seem to fit.

I was wondering whether it might be better to buy the Motocaddy Scorecard Holder which needs to be attached to an Accessory Station [insert sarcasm about expense of buying multiple accessories].

Anyone come up with any novel/useful ideas about clipping their Sureshot to their buggy?

Problem solvered:

Ive got a small bit of rubber that i glued onto both sides, where the belt clip attaches, so that it doesn't slip off.

I don't have a Sureshot, mine is Bushnell Yardage Pro XG. I decided to mount it similar to what you are trying to do. I found these on eBay and they are the ducks guts;

Whilst this particular one might, or might not work for the Sureshot, there are several different but similar types on eBay and I reckon one would do the job.

They have adjustable padded jaws that you can hand tighten around the unit to hold it in place.. They have a release button that allows the jaws to widen to fit the units in. The only thing I did was use some cloth tape around the buggy handle to provide a good purchase for the clamp. You can adjust them almost infinitely off the ball joint connection arm.

Daves, the SureShot is wider than it is taller. It's about 10.5 cm wide x 7.5cm tall (not including aerial height) x 2.5cm deep.

Do you think the Bushnell Golf Cart HandleBar Mount could swivel 90 degrees to accommodate the way the SureShot is supposed to sit?

Yep, it is on a ball joint and can swivel the full 360 degrees. You will be unlikely to need to though, as I just measured it and the jaws will open up to 13cm across.

If you search on ebay for bicycle phone holders you will find a bunch of cheap options as they are designed to mount on handlebars.

Some photos of my installed holder, so you can get a better idea of how it sets up;

Looks good Daves.

Just two more questions:

What is the depth of those jaws?
I see the ebay description says, "This Bar mount and Gold GPS Holder kit has the ball socket connection that snaps onto the end of the mount." So, you don't need to unscrew it off the frame of the buggy each time you have to fold the buggy?

I have a Motocaddy S3 and there is a holder that goes on the accessory station that holds my Sureshot or iPhone or pretty much any GPS.

IanO, is that the accessory labelled "Device Cradle"?

Yes, you can rotate it around to whatever angle you like.

I have been using it since November last year with no problems.

1. Depth is 9.5cm

2. You can remove the cradle by undoing the the ball joint cover "nut". I don't bother because the way it is mounted I can fold the buggy with it and it is out of the way. Plus it is only plastic cover nut so I am not convinced it is the strongest joint and am wary of constantly removing it an installing it.
