Hey I get to kick this off.

Snappy social hit today as practice for the trip next week.

Bribie Island (only the front nine is playing the full holes) so par is 69 being 36/33 (two extra par 3's instead of par 4 & 5 respectively).

Front nine 39 ppppbppdp/Back nine 39 bpppppbpb for 78/61

The putter's mojo returned after 8 holes - I must have paid my penance for dropping it and its being nice again.

Is that your first round in the 70's, regardless of the reduced par?

Played Royal Pines, The Glades and Lakelands on the weekend.
36 @ RP
30 @ Glades
28 @ Lakelands.

RP was a doddle. Must be if I can play to my handicap there.

Putted like crap at Glades, couldn't read those bastard greens. Should have been a lot better.

17th @ Lakelands in the sunshine with the grey storm clouds in the background is one of the most stunning golf views I've seen for a long time. Played better than 28 points would indicate.

Only lost 4 balls all weekend, 2 of which went into the same lake.

16/03/2011, Nudgee GC North, Stableford.

3/13 effective tee-shots.
7/18 effective approaches.
3/3 up and down successes.
3/4 sand saves.
29 putts.
------------------------
1 birdie.
10 pars.
5 bogeys.
2 others.

Scoring PPBDPPDBP PPbPPBPBB

Score (http://www.ozgolf.net/andyp/Scorecard/rounds/20110316-p48.html): 40-38-78 stab 37pts (Par 34-36-70 ACR 69) [Temp Hole 2 from par 4 to 3).

H/cap Change: 8.8 to 8.7. New low again and almost to 8.

Fortunately the putting from the Redcliffe round was an anomaly, and it was back on track today. The rest of the short game was in great form too.

The irons were good, but unfortunately my driving continued to get worse and put me in some terrible positions thanks to pull hooks mostly. If they were half decent, it could have let the rest of the game take over for scoring well, but it wasn't to be today.

It's hard to complain too much when you play to your handicap hitting garbage off the tee though. Two more "played to 10" rounds to "defend".

Next comp round: Finally a Pennant trial at Wolston Park, at least I hope so.

Played in an Irish Fourball at the Bay. Played well on the front (back nine first) for 37 but played shit for 47 on the back, for what would've been 84 if it was a single event. Too many doubles, 5.

Our team only had 80points, the winners had 100!!

H/cap Change: 8.8 to 8.6. New low again and almost to 8.Nudgee decided that it was a white tee comp, so the ACR was actually 69. I'm now equal with Courty's handicap of 8.7 instead of beating it. :(

Shot 8 over 78 at Richmond.

they had cored the greens, and it was day 5 after. Very bumpy and average

I missed 5 putts inside 6 feet due to ball taking a unexpected right angled turn.

rest of course looked mint!

First Round of Club Champs today.

Shot 70 (-2) for a 71 nett.

Had 5 birdies, 1 double and a bogey. Course was pretty tough, slight breeze but zero run making it play very long!

Stroke comp at Mareeba this arve. It was preferred lies which was no surprise after the rain that's been falling up there in the last few weeks. Still, the greens were mostly pretty good except for a few which had been cored and/ or sanded.

I did pretty well, carding an 80. I was a little annoyed about a few soft bogies late in the round when I started to tire, and also a 3-putt double (cored & sanded green), when my aim was to not make worse than bogey all day .

Haven't been out there for a while. The new greenkeeper seems pretty switched on and isn't afraid of mowing, which is a good thing.

Haven't been out there for a while. The new greenkeeper seems pretty switched on and isn't afraid of mowing, which is a good thing.

My only criticism would be that the rough is still too thick. With the ground as soft as it is, too much time is spent looking for plugged balls which are nearly impossible to see through that length grass. Our group lost 2 balls in the first 2 holes due to this.

Been that way for years Rich. One greenkeeper and a band of volunteers (mostly retirees) keep the place in order.

Wow inspiring stuff. Someone should help them out and do 5 green designs for the price of one.

Check your email next week!

If you redesign the greens, won't this just create more work for the one greenskeeper?

Semi final of my club matchplay champs yesterday. I played pretty well and kept it in play mostly. I won on the 19th.

I was 3 down at the turn after my opponent chipped in twice on 6 & 7 and then I missed the green on 8 & 9 to lose those two. I was pretty cranky at the turn and proceed to belt driver into the trees on 10, but I made a nice 2 putt from the front left to the back right pin to save a half there, which stopped the rot. I then won 11 with a nice up and down par save, won 12 with a birdie, won 13 with a par (but hole was conceded 300m out from green!), halved 14 with a nice up and down par, won 15 with a birdie (4 iron approach to 10 feet). We halved 16 and I was one up on 17 tee, my nemesis hole. I dunked my approach in the pond and made an ugly double to lose to a bogey. So, all square heading up 18. We both hit the fairway, but I was further away and had a lash with 3 wood. I missed short right after rattling the trees. He missed short left in the greenside traps with his hybrid approach. We had a gallery by the this stage... I hit my chip shot over the bunkers to 20cm. Wild applause. I was feeling pretty good at this point. My opponent then hit probably the best bunker shot I've ever seen from the short side bunker that spun back to about 30cm. hole halved. Back to the first. We both hit the fairway, I was away first and missed the green just outside the right bunker with my 3 iron. My opponent hit a similar shot, but was in the bunker next to me. I hit first and just overcooked it to be a metre off the green, 5 metres from the pin. The other guy overshot the green too and was a bit further into the collar rough. He hit a reasonable chip considering he was chipping from the rough downhill to a pin only 3-4m on the green. He left himself a 10 footer. I was a bit closer so could play a little bump chip with wedge. I hit it perfectly and it did a half lap but stayed out of the hole. He missed the 10 footer. I won. Yay.

I was meant to play the final today against our former club champ, but it was postponed due to all the rain. The course played very long yesterday. I really struggled to walk it yesterday and keep everything dry. I only have one glove, but needed 3 or 4 and a couple of towels. If it looks like rain for the final, I'll hire a cart and take a bunch of towels.

Stats.

12/14 fairways
6 GIR
28 putts
2 birdies
2 doubles
79 gross (ACR 75)

78/72 in a stroke round at Albury Golf Club today (Rd. 2 of the Champs - I missed the first round).
Too many missed greens with short irons today, and when I did get it close, I didn't make the birdie putts. Brainfart double on 16 was the icing on the cake.

20 over around Healesville today. An interesting, fun and short course at the RACV club resort.

Got better after I decided to leave driver in the bag for the back 9. There was a par 5 I hit with an 8I after teeing off with a 4W [3 putt par :( ] Andigold eagled it. Possibly his first ever :)

I would recommend others give it a try.

4th game since Dec 12th today.

Was actually keen to have a game, however by the back nine it was back to just going though the motions.

18/12 - 30 points

FIR - 6/14
GIR - 2/18
Putts - LOT's

Still a fair amount of water on the course.
