Looking at tentatively booking this in for Sunday 6th March at Gailes.

dc68
27th February 2011, 07:17 PM
Cool but I will have a 10 year old in tow. He won't be any hassle though.

shazza_rs
27th February 2011, 07:27 PM
no probs here

AndyP
27th February 2011, 07:47 PM
That's a bad omen. I lost to Rusty when he had his mum in tow.

Jarro
27th February 2011, 08:09 PM
Go Hickeys !!!

dc68
27th February 2011, 08:11 PM
Can I ask that it not be a really early time because of said 10 year old.

AndyP
27th February 2011, 08:13 PM
For comp, it wouldn't be before 11am, I would think.

dc68
27th February 2011, 08:40 PM
Cool

Moe Norman
28th February 2011, 09:36 AM
hmm, I'd prefer early - but we'll have to see.

Strangely, I've only played golf 4 times this year, and all of the games have been at Gailes.

Edit: it's matchplay, so I don't want to play in the comp

dc68
28th February 2011, 11:00 AM
When I say not early I mean not before 730.

peter_rs
28th February 2011, 01:39 PM
Justed called the proshop this sunday they have one social time leave at 11-40 on 10 or comp times are free from 11-56 of the 1st.

Moe Norman
28th February 2011, 02:38 PM
lets play somewhere else, I need to play early (before 8:30 preferably)

how about Oxley?

AndyP
28th February 2011, 03:15 PM
Most clubs accommodate social clubs first thing Sunday morning, that's why their comps are 11am plus. Nudgee is one of the few exceptions that I've come across.

Pacific doesn't cater for shit; it's a pretty full comp every Sunday. So I guess add that to the few.

peter_rs
28th February 2011, 08:04 PM
Since it only looks like the 4 I will call oxley is there another backup Ipswich red cliff keparra

Moe Norman
28th February 2011, 09:11 PM
somewhere this side of town would be best, but no dramas if you can't.

as a last resort, happy to host at BGC, but it's $50 a head and I get home advantage

peter_rs
1st March 2011, 08:55 AM
Ok Oxley is out.

Keperra 6am $40
Ipswich 9am $25
Indro 8am $60 is the course fixed?

Moe Norman
1st March 2011, 09:08 AM
Indro is no good. They have 16 holes in play across 2 courses with huge walks inbetween.

BGC - $50

6:51am
6:58am
11:21am
11:35am

Any love for Virginia or Wynnum?

I'm happy to play at Ipswich also.

henno

Any love for Virginia or Wynnum?

Come to Wynnum and I'll come for the walk.

That should be reason enough to go to Virginia. ;-)

peter_rs
1st March 2011, 10:39 AM
Virginia have times before 8am @ $42.

Henno has the greens improved?

henno
1st March 2011, 10:41 AM
Henno has the greens improved?

I'd have to go and check. If there is actual interest, I can wander down there and take a look as it's only just down the road.

peter_rs
1st March 2011, 10:44 AM
BCC is ok is the full 18 in play? are the new holes in play.

Shazza is only getting 3 shots so thats up to her. (4 if your of white).

AndyP
1st March 2011, 10:52 AM
Gee, social golf is expensive, isn't it.

Moe Norman
1st March 2011, 11:54 AM
Pete,

We have 18 holes in play, but not the 'Championship 18' as 14,15,16 are getting redone.

The spare holes are in play, and imo are better holes anyway, but this reduces Par to 69 I think.

Gee Virginia is pricey - I'm keen on Wynnum for some reason now, despite it being miles away!

AndyP
1st March 2011, 12:01 PM
If you play at Wynnum, don't let yourself get to dormie 8 (http://www.ozgolf.net/showthread.php/17563-Moe-vs-Tex) before making some pars, Moe.

peter_rs
1st March 2011, 12:05 PM
Wynnum $42 and nothing until after 1pm.

Moe Norman
1st March 2011, 12:11 PM
wowsers!

I'm on the Ipswich bandwagon then, or maybe we could even play Brookie with these prices getting quoted?!

peter_rs
1st March 2011, 12:12 PM
So I guess the list to fit moe and dc is

virginia pre 8 $42
Ipswich 9am $25 (but moe wanted early)
BCC 6:52 $50 (but DC didn't want before 7:30)

Keperra, Wynnum, Red cliffe, Reddy bay, Gailies don't and early times.

Any feedback dc.

The prices are high but even nudgee is $40 (less as a members guest)

Jarro
1st March 2011, 12:15 PM
Wh7y don't you play Northlakes ?

BrisVegas
1st March 2011, 12:21 PM
Gee, social golf is expensive, isn't it.

+1

AndyP
1st March 2011, 12:24 PM
Why don't you play in the comp to get the better fees, but disregard the comp while you are playing (although there may be handicap issues)?

peter_rs
1st March 2011, 12:26 PM
Moe requested no Comp other wise we would.

Carbrook has tee times pre 8 and is $36.

Steve57
1st March 2011, 12:26 PM

No handicap issue if you put a half completed card in.
They have to handicap you as No card - approved.

Moe Norman
1st March 2011, 12:36 PM
happy to play comp to save $, but will be playing matchplay rules and NCRing.

If Shaz is happy to do the same after I concede a putt/hole, then all good

peter_rs
1st March 2011, 12:39 PM
The other issuse was most comps are afternoon.

jaybam
1st March 2011, 02:10 PM
Just looked at ipswih for you on the online booking. 8:32 off the first looks like it's available. I just spoke to them about our boooig next week and they said visitors were 20 bucks in the comp. Haven't played there since the floods so not sure how it is. Says the coml is a stab for those interested.

jaybam
1st March 2011, 02:21 PM
In saying that the course is still fairly new and a bit raw for want of a better word. Before the floods the fairways were good and greens were also good but anything of the fairway was a bit dodgey so if you are a fussy **** I would steer clear.

jaybam
1st March 2011, 02:32 PM
There is also some good risk reward holes but also a few blind tee shots as shazza has already mentioned lol

Moe Norman
1st March 2011, 02:32 PM
i'm happy with Ipswich, but no biggy.

shazza_rs
2nd March 2011, 09:24 AM
Ipswich booked in for 8:30am

Jarro
2nd March 2011, 09:25 AM
Go Shazza !!!

shazza_rs
2nd March 2011, 09:26 AM
thanks.... i actually hate the course but hey, it gets it out of the road

Moe Norman
2nd March 2011, 10:00 AM
all good with me, go Shazza!

oh wait...

Webster
2nd March 2011, 10:05 AM
Don't get beat by a chick Moe, it's a terrible feeling.

dc68
3rd March 2011, 08:01 PM
Wynnum is good for me. When this is being booked can you also book
a cart as the young fella will crack it if he has to walk.
( and I am a lazy ****)

AndyP
3rd March 2011, 08:08 PM
It's at Ipswich, Dave. 8:30a. Booked.

dc68
3rd March 2011, 08:16 PM
Okey dokey.
And being coring season... was the question asked?

This also concerns me.

In saying that the course is still fairly new and a bit raw for want of a better word. Before the floods the fairways were good and greens were also good but anything of the fairway was a bit dodgey so if you are a fussy **** I would steer clear.

shazza_rs
3rd March 2011, 08:26 PM
No i didn't ask the question on coring. I also didn't book a cart, you will need to do it yourself.

Moe Norman
3rd March 2011, 08:38 PM
tell the young fella not to be such a sook (although, I guess he's like his old man?)

shazza_rs
3rd March 2011, 08:43 PM
Ha.... to be fair there are quite a few long walks between holes. However I have walked it before in 38 degree heat and it wasn't that bad!

Dc > I assume the course has "grown" in since last time I played it. About a year ago now. I didn't find it any better/worse than any other course at the time.

dc68
6th March 2011, 06:14 AM
Sorry for the late notice but Finn has been up a few times vomiting during
the night and I don't think it's a good idea to drag him out onto a golf
course. I guess unless we could organise another game I will need to
forfeit. I leave that up to you Pete.

Once again sorry for the late notice.

Does anyone know if Pete's number is still the same as in the ctc thread? I have sent a text
advising of the above but have recieved no response.

Jarro
6th March 2011, 07:10 AM
You've still got until the end of the month.

Hopefully you guys can sort out a time that suits.

Forfeits suck :p

jaybam
6th March 2011, 02:17 PM
Thanks for the game today Shazza Pete and Moe. Was a fun round and good to get out. Wouldn't dare post the scores because some are very very embarrassing lol

shazza_rs
6th March 2011, 03:03 PM
Thanks for the round gents.... was fun! Big props to Jaybam for filling in the spare spot at late notice.

PS. Dave, the number in the contact list is right for phone calls. He doesn't get texts from that number.

AndyP
6th March 2011, 05:49 PM
And the winner is ...........?

Ipswich Golf Club?

Moe Norman
6th March 2011, 06:09 PM
Moe 32 Points
Jaybam 26 Points
Shazza 25 Points

Not sure how many Pete had.

Just for the record, that is the worst redesign of a Golf Club I have ever seen, just terrible stuff. Wayne Grady should give his fee back.

That club won't exist within 10 years its so bad.

.

Does this mean I have something to look forward to next week with my matchplay game ?

Moe, having never seen Ipswich , why so bad ??

Moe Norman
6th March 2011, 07:03 PM
It's nothing like the old course, in fact not one hole the same.

It's just stupid. He has built a long course that is a real slog, over bunkered it with ugly high maintenance bunkers and usually has 3 bunkers where 1 would suffice. Has built massive greens, blind shots and huge walks between some holes.

Given the nature of the membership there, it is just absolute vandalism and will send them broke. Not only will they lose revenue from lack of play, the maintenance budget to keep it in just 'reasonable' condition would be huge.

shazza_rs
6th March 2011, 07:25 PM
Moe 32 Points
Peter_rs 29 points
Jaybam 26 Points
Shazza 25 Points

Added Pete to the list of stellar points.....

I guess unless we could organise another game I will need to
forfeit. I leave that up to you Pete.

DC

As per PM's, Pete rearranged work to play the match this weekend. At this stage it is the only opportunity to play the match before the end of the month unless Pete's work priorities change. So things don't look promising between our Barny Trip and my 30th.

Pete will let you know if anything changes.

PeteyD
6th March 2011, 07:32 PM
bugger.

Maybe we should move to Windaroo Dave?

shazza_rs
6th March 2011, 07:45 PM
Course would be perfectly fine if it wasn't in Ipswich. Not suited for the membership base nor the financial position of the club which will only get worse as the elderly membership leave.

ddasey

bugger.

Maybe we should move to Windaroo Dave?

Hmmm maybe :-"

Moe Norman
6th March 2011, 08:44 PM
not suggesting its a terrible course, just terrible for what that club needs considering their membership base and financial position.

(although its not great, floods don't help either!)
