Early upset with the Highlanders defeating the Canes. Rebels were disappointing, they are going to have a hard season ahead of them.

PeteyD

They are. If only I had not allowed my hatred of the Waratahs to colour my judgement I might have done well this week.

MAZA68
20th February 2011, 10:34 PM
Lucky escape for the Reds and a close one for the Bulls as well. There is still alot of early season rustyiness to be knocked out.
The Blues - Crusdaers game was a notch above all the other games I saw.

Crusaders/Canes matched cancelled & both teams given 2 points for a draw.I wonder how that plays out in the tipping comp ? :S

Roger.

Without sounding like a prick,i dont know why they didnt just play it.Its at the cake tin & it would have been the perfect opp to raise some funds for the quake victims. The difference between oz & nz....over here they get stuck in & get on with it,whereas at home they sit on their asses & mop around.:neutral:

Some close games this weekend where games could have gone either way. The SA sides all appear to be very competitive this year.
With changes to the comp this year, away game wins and bonus points will be crucial in the wash up.

3rd last, just in front of the Rebels and Brumbies.

1 win does not make a season. I doubt it would matter who played the Crusaders last week, they were in for a flogging. Glad it was the Wankertahs though.

Surprise of the week was the highlanders.

MAZA68
8th March 2011, 10:51 PM
The Bulls came back strong in the last quarter and almost snatched the win, but really didn't deserve it.

Force are going to find it tough without Pocock for several weeks.

Always had a soft spot for otago rugby. They're riding high off the back of southlands shield success so its good to see.

MAZA68

Looks as if the Rebels are going to be harder to beat the Brumbies after tonight's games.

MAZA68
19th March 2011, 11:03 AM
Good old battle between the Sharks and Chiefs, the Sharks defence was well "organised" and nullfied alot of the Chiefs attack. The Sharks adopt the old SA approach of kick and wait fro mistakes.

Reds/Rebels to me was a messy game with the Rebels having no pattern to there game and really just trying to stop points. Reds looked as they were missing game play, can't say they scored quality points.

MAZA68
20th March 2011, 10:27 AM
See the Tahs season has gone downhill already!

PeteyD
20th March 2011, 12:59 PM
You trying to say that all 53 points were not quality? It was a dominant display from the Reds that the have not previously been able to do. Looks good. Do I need to rmeind you that they beat the Poosaders last year.

Waratahs!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. What a bunch of losers.

MAZA68
20th March 2011, 01:53 PM
Dominant against a average team on the night. Tahs trashed the Rebels too and look what happened to them!

Brave call from a Reds supporter trying to trash the Crusaders ............... one win in how many seasons?

PeteyD
20th March 2011, 02:26 PM
You are only as good as the last one ;)

If we can just fix the scrum packing mess all will be good.

Bruce
30th March 2011, 04:49 PM
The scary thing about that Twickenham match was the Crusader's scrum. I've never seen a Sth African pack pushed around like that.

And the commentators, pre match were saying how the Sharks had a strong scrum.

that pause, engage crap is a joke. Plus some refs let them set too far apart.

Bruce

Remember those annoying kids who couldn't do "ready, set, go" properly and were always stuffing around, leaving long pauses etc. - they grew up to be referees.

Rebels put in an ordinary effort last night, with the Highlanders dominating them in all areas and the Crusaders managed to get over the top of a fired up Chiefs side. Chiefs were in the game but once they made a small error (dropped ball) the Crusaders punished them.

PeteyD
16th April 2011, 04:22 PM

MAZA68

Hopefully the Blues will smash the Tahs and I think the Bulls will give the Reds a good run. They'll be fired up from last weeks poor effort against the Crusaders.

PeteyD

Yea, pretty wary of the wounded bulls. Bit wet up here too so might not favour the Reds.

Watched the try feast between the Hurricanes and Cheetahs - 50 to 47 with the Canes scoring in the last couple of minutes to get the win. 97 points dosn't say much for both teams defence.

Did you see how many missed tackles each team had? That alone is almost justification for the huge score.

Didn't see that, but there were quite a few soft tries scored.

Cheetahs are on a hot run at the moment, they could well upset the final placings in the SA pool. Their remaimg games are all against the SA sides.

Some last gasp wins and two draws made for an interesting round. The final round has set up well, with a number a games deciding who will make the playoffs.
