Got a distance that rattles you.

Last 2 rounds, good scoring has been dampened by a particular yardage, causing a potential birdie opportunity into a frustrating double.:smt013

108m and 109m.

Short par fours and middle of the fairway for approach with a tailwind. First thought is to grip down on the pw but the wind gets me a little spooked( over the back being dead) and I opt for the 54* wedge. Both times get it thin and with no spin and low trajectory I'm in the shite big time.

Collect myself for a potential bounce back on the next hole and both times lipped out for birdie.

Hey Ferrins ...

You've made the right play ... just the wrong execution where you've tried to hit it too hard maybe.

Sometimes (at our level) you gotta be happy with middle of the green.

The use and application of the range of shots and yardages with the pitching wedge will improve my scoring by around 3-5 shots.

Dont hit a shot in the round that you haven't practiced.

Ok ... lets say you normally hit your 54 wedge 103m.

You've still only left yourself with a 15-20ft putt...

i would have used gap wedge from that distance.

I never go after a sandwedge with more than a 80% swing..... to much can go wrong for me.....

thats a bit rough, then I don't get to hit any shots at all.

Also, my yardage nemesis is 10-90m

My yardage nemesis is anything over 15 feet ... and anything under 220.

20-50m. I can only blame not practicing this range enough

5-20m and not being able to putt.

I either do it really well, or screw it up spectacularly. It's a 50-50 proposition.

I have dumped the pitching wedge out of my set of J36 pocket cavitiy's and use my Callaway X tour 50*. I just don't seem able to hit that PW anything but a full shot and find the 50* a better fit.

between 60 and about 90m with th wind behind. I hate having to try to play the fiddley little arsey shots, you only ever get 1 in 5 right.

Very true rubin....was just having this discussion with IDG the other day, probably easier to read 'into the wind' than with it imo.

180 - 200 meters.

Still have a lot of work to do with my hybrids from this distance

Anything less than a full shot <110m and just about all shots with less than a Gap wedge in my hand.

Learn to love em! Half wedge shots are the tits, they help you real swing as well IMO.

220+ rattles me at present - anytime I have the driver in my hand at present is ugly :-)
