So with lots of music, movies and tv shows I wanna find a way to correct things that might not be correct. So sometimes I've got names a bit wrong, or tags wrong or something and they don't get organised right. I've heard of MediaMonkey which may do what I'm looking for with my music, but I'm wondering what might be out there for movies and tv shows. There appears to be one for XBMC called media companion, but I'm looking for one for windows that I can leave on the media center and auto run it every now and then to correct things.

From what I can see, a feature of these programs is to look at you collections and then go to (for music) say amazon and correct tags, or song names etc where possible. And for the movies the one I mentioned seems to go to IMDB or TVDB to and searches based on your avi's names to find dvd cover art, correct tags etc and they can also organise you collections.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has tried anything that does similar (for music, movie or tv show collections) or has any recommendations for me. Of course, there may not really be anything out there. But thought I'd ask.

I just ensure all of that info is correct before I transfer to my server etc..

Be interested to hear more about the software you mentioned though!

Sometimes it's in a bit of a mess when I get it, I'd you know what I mean ;). The xbmc one I read about only needs the name of the avi kind of correct for it to do its work, though having the date in the title helps even more.

I'm thinking there must be a way for dvd art to show in media center when looking through my collection. I think I've seen an inlaws media portal program do something like this, but clikchic doesn't want to learn how to use another type of media center program.

Tapatalk! We don't need no stinkin' Tapatalk!I do know what you mean, usually I just take the time to fix them manually.. In regards to the art, I always thought if you kept the album art in the same folder as the album it will use that image?

Goughy, you have inspired me to look at using a MCPC again. I was big into it when it first launched, but got frustrated somewhat by it and gave up for a while.

After reading an Engadget article today about an embedded TV on the way, I realised just how easy it is to use. In fact, the interface is simply the best out there.

So I'm going to look at converting over an old desktop i have lying around.

Cheers!

Kind of what I did. When Rob upgraded to a new pc, I grabbed hers to use as the mcpc. $40 for a hdmi video card and it's been pretty good so far. I wanted to try out mythbuntu and media portal, but Rob isn't keen on me mucking about with it when she and the kids can already kind of use it.

Goughy, for music I use a (Mac) app called Coverscout. It works with a sister app called Song Genie for adding cover art and fixing tags.

how is the noise from the Power supply fan if its just a normal PC? i found that even if its barely noticeable it can be annoying.

Don't notice it when the tv's on, which is pretty much always. Seems loud when it's not. Her new computer is nearly silent. I have replaced one of the fans with a 'silent' version though. And the video card has no fan on it. The previous one (a non hdmi card) was like a jet taking off.

For any linux users (read: Blakey) I have been using EasyTag for a million years and it goes alright. It is a GTK+ GUI, has batch processing, regex capabilities and is as powerful and complicated as you care to make it. I also have my hard drive setup as follows:

/storage/music/incoming
/storage/music/library

Obviously, any an all music is downloaded/ripped/copied to "incoming" before it is verified as worthy of an inclusion in "library". So I just do it as I go.

*EDIT - There're pre-compiled windows and MaxOSX versions as well (http://easytag.sourceforge.net/downloads.htm#download)*

Tag&Rename for Windows, been using it for years and it does everything. Allows you to search about 6 different Amazon databases for the titles.

And a great app for renaming episodes, movies etc but will have to track that down when back at home. This is the pick of the bunch as I've tried quite a few.

EDIT - http://www.therenamer.com/index.html (http://www.therenamer.com/index.html) is the episode and movie program.

TheRenamer FEATURES:

- A user interface that's idiot proof - using Drag & Drop.
- Fuzzy Logic sorts out the Show name, Season/Episode numbers (S1E1, 1x1 or 101 formats).
- Queries the most advanced search engine - Google (http://www.google.com/)
- Automatically grabs the official show name and episode titles from the most comprehensive movie database on
the web - IMDb.com (http://www.imdb.com/), TV.com (http://www.tv.com/), theTVDB.com (http://www.thetvdb.com/) and EPGUIDES.com (http://epguides.com/).
- Database: Simple and automatic table for keeping track of TV website's ID number.
- Force show names: Lets you customize how the Show Name is named (if you prefer shorter names).
- Fetch Folder: Scans all files in that directory. Point it to your 'Download Complete' folder. For people who are
too lazy to Drag & Drop.....I love it :)
- Auto Move: Automatically moves files to your TV Show Archive after it's renamed.
- Fully automate the entire rename and move process with parameter (theRenamer.exe -fetch and -fetchmovie (http://www.therenamer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=261))
- MOVIES! theRenamer now supports Movie files as well.
- Auto creates IMDb shortcut link to IMDb movie webpage.

Media Center Master (http://www.mediacentermaster.com/) (it seppo hence the spelling of Centre ok...) for films/tv

Magic MP3 Tagger (http://www.magic-tagger.com/eng/index.php) for music - although it does require manual intervention fairly frequently. Probably about 80% accurate.
