No tee time booked yet, but it will be a morning round as usual.

1. Timah!
2. Courty
3. BrettM
4. haysey
5. Tomson

Where you looking to play? Where are you staying?

Weather may limit the available options considerably...options are as follows.

1. Paradise Palms
2. Sea Temple
3. Cairns
4. Half Moon Bay
5. Mossman
6. Gordonvale
.
.
.
4001222009. Mareeba:lol:

after talking to brettm sea temple is my choice.

haysey
30th December 2010, 11:15 AM
Did you ask him why he killed Paradise Palms?

Tomson
30th December 2010, 11:21 AM
Because sea temple is so much better.

mike
30th December 2010, 11:27 AM
Did you ask him why he killed Paradise Palms? What's wrong with PP?

Haysey, Mareeba may be the only option.

Timah! that's a crazy time of the year to visit Cairns.

timah!
30th December 2010, 11:39 AM
'visiting' for work.
Staying in Cairns at Rydges on the esplanade.

I've never been before so no idea where to play.

I'm in.

Thursday range time can also be organised.

Will you have a vehicle or need a lift?

haysey

What's wrong with PP?

Apparently the greens have been cored with a backhoe:razz:

Haysey, Mareeba may be the only option.

No doubt! Just stirring.

How do I get "uninvited"?

Oh I don't know. Fishing for bites from the general direction of Mareeba. ;)

Courty

I've never been before so no idea where to play.

1. Paradise Palms - 1 of 2 Top 100 courses in the region. 30 mins north of the city at Palm Cove.
2. Sea Temple - other Top 100 course. 1 hour north of the city at Port Douglas.
3. Cairns - Home course to me, Haysey, Tomson, Solarman etc. 5 mins from the city.
4. Half Moon Bay - dinky little course 15 mins north of the city. HMBGC members love the course, most others hate it
5. Mossman - Small member-based club 15 minutes north of Port Douglas.
6. Gordonvale - Goat track 20-30 mins south of the city.
7. Mareeba - Home course to mike, Ned Kelly, rowey etc. Maybe our only realistic option if it's raining at the time.

mike
30th December 2010, 01:01 PM
1. Paradise Palms - too hard
2. Sea Temple - too many crocs
3. Cairns - Home course to me, Haysey, Tomson, Solarman , a good reason to avoid it.
4. Half Moon Bay - cool little course, big hitters hate it because you have to think.
5. Mossman - great course at low tide.
6. Gordonvale - Goat track 10 mins south of the city.
7. Mareeba - Home course to mike, Ned Kelly, rowey etc. Maybe our only realistic option if it's raining at the time.Fixed.

Gordonvale 20-30 minutes south? I could walk there in 15.

Courty

I'll have a car, yes.

2. Sea Temple - other Top 100 course. 1 hour north of the city at Port Douglas.

Do we plan for Mareeba then? I'm more than happy to leave course choice in the hands of the locals.

Might I suggest that ST is mint at present, particularly the greens ;)

PP can do what they want from tomorrow as our association with them ends. Dropped 9 spots in the January 2011 GA Public Top 100 which pretty much reflects how it's going.

Looking at the dates I'm working the 8th and 9th so can't make an early start and heading to Melbourne on the 16th for the tennis and some golf. I think I might be here on the 15th but not sure. If you're playing mid-week then no chance.

Cheers.

I reckon they don't have any money. I would like to bet that it is up for sale very soon, and that the course won't be round for much longer.

To me the worst thing that could happen would let the course run down so its a goat track that would be worse then getting rid of the course.

We're getting intermittent showers (mostly in the form of afternoon storms). It's still way too early to make a call, that'll probably be left until a day or two out.

But anyway, we'd better start a list so we know how many to book for at ST:

There's only really two to chose from. The closest one is Cairns GC (only a few minutes from the city). Let us know what time you'll be there & I'll come down for a chinwag.

Actually. **** it. Get your boys to set the markers out a bit shorter and let's get it on.

It can't be any worse than cairns.

It's going to be relatively sunny, just playing shorter.

Swap that Fubuki out

Yeah, already done.

Leaving to pick up cookie and solarman (heaven help me). See you there.

The weather site shows Mareeba receiving 20mm. I'd bet on it being more than that at the course. Let's stick with the original plan. It's getting too late to change plans, IMO.

Had a few practice swings in the backyard at 11.30 last night. No good. No golf for me today.
But I guess you guys had already worked that out.

Great morning and pleasant company.
Pity i didnt play the comp i suppose. Par comps normally dont appeal to me.
I think everyone had decent rounds though. Good to catch up with everyone and meeting chris.

Who won the matches and , courty, the tapatalk sigs are getting on my nerves.

EDIT that was a bit too harsh.

Thanks for the game all. I was concerned when we started getting the heavy rain last night but I thought the course didn't play too badly.

Thanks to Courty for the matchplay. The front 9 for myself wasn't the best but managed to turn square with some improvement on the back. A couple of stray shots by him on 9 (tee), 17 (pitch) and 18 (second) was enough for me to scrape past.

Phew, finally home and a chance to catch my breath.

Thanks to all those who turned up :p, and a special mention to BrettM for organising the good rate.

The course was looking great as usual, although it was a heavy track (to be expected). I should be happy as -2 is my best score to date at Sea Temple, but I'm frustrated with myself for letting the match slip away from me. Credit to Brett though, he played some very solid golf in the closing holes, making regulation pars on about the last 4 straight. I won't mention how I beat his quad with a double on the 14 though. ;)

It was good to meet Chriso, and I'm glad the weather held off for Timah!.

Another successful OZgolf day, good work people!

Hey Courty,

hadn't realised you had pencilled me in so sorry not to let you know I couldn't make it. Cash issues (well, wife says we have cash issues - I'm not convinced).

Played Cairns, very wet & first game back although it was a 4BBB so, nice gentle re-introduction.

Mizzies are back in the bag along with the Vokey wedges - played some great, some good and some crap. Hope to catch up soon
