Well done on the holed out approach and well done on not heading straight to the bar after it.

Thanks Dave.
No comp but it was witnessed by a mate I was playing with so as far as I am concerned it counts.
Funny thing was I didn't think I hit it that well and all my shots before it were crap, but after it I flushed everything!
Amazing what a bit of adrenalin/confidence can do.

It has been having it's moments lately - not in the bag at present, but I'm sure it's not the club!

well done.....great score and good it was witnessed....maybe you should mount your ball on it's own trophie as a reward...

we had round 1 of the 4B match play on Sun morning, me off 12 and my partner off 14 playing a 4 and a 24 handicapper..so we played off 8 and 10 vs 0 and 20
got off to a shocker and lost the 1st hole but settled, won the next 5 holes to have a handy +4 lead....rallied for the rest of the day and were +2 on the 16th where we parred to win 3/2....quarter finals early in the new year...will have my new 910 by then and playing a couple of retirees so looking forward to blasting a few out of sight (hopefully on the short stuff)

Last 5 single comp rounds: Played to 22, 21, 17, 21, 14.

I should be happy that I was hitting the ball well again today, but in the end I'm a bit disappointed that 31pts was the result. I hit the ball much better than that, but I had issues hitting the right length, which resulted in missed greens. I think this was because the Neo distances were a little out and a few gusts of wind psyched me out.

Long putts is a weakness I'm going to have to address sooner or later. Less penalties would be nice too. Overall, there were some good signs that I will be back scoring well again soon.

Next round: I can't play the regular Saturday comp, so I'm playing at Wally Park on Sunday instead..

38pts @ Carbrook.

Not bad given it was my first game there but pretty disappointed in a lot of ways. Prick of a start had me 3 over after 3 holes. Really holed nothing of note after that either.

The round took just under 4 hours. The drive to the course almost took as long due to retards populating the Bruce Hwy. Got there with 5 mins to spare after giving myself 2hrs 25mins.

It was a stinkfest at Cairns GC this morning... stinking hot, stinking golf.

30 pts (even with 3 birdies )

18/12/10 - Single Stableford - Wantima

Well the course was a bog and it was stinking hot / humid.

1st week playing of 15. 36 points. Pretty happy with that given the condition of the course.

Fingers crossed 77cm will hold for NTP on the 10th.

If I'm not mistaken, you are the only OzGolfer I've played with a few times but never racked up a bad round.

edit - racked it up at Oxley I think. 3 out of 4 works for me.

H/cap Change: 9.6 to 9.4. Single figures! Woohoo!
Last 5 single comp rounds: Played to 21, 17, 21, 14, 10.

The short game was on fire today. Although there were a few 'if only' moments (2 hit flags, a few lipped putts) that could have resulted in a PB, the short game saved a few holes that could have been worse too. It got tougher as the round got on, so in those conditions, I'll take it.

Next round: Hopefully Wednesday at Windaroo.

I think there is some allowance to alter the rating if it is a preferred lies round, but I don't think that it applies to Tee Up rounds. Were the bunkers out of play as well?

PeteyD
19th December 2010, 01:17 PM
yea. So naturally I didn't go in one all day. 13 I missed the hole just right and it rolled 2 metres past. 5 I did the same but it stopped at 6" past (2nd shot). Chip in on 11. Think I only had 28 putts.

Stableford this morning at Bonnie D.

Even par the front to turn with 21, then got through 14 at +1 and bogeyed three of the last four for a 75 off the stick (+4) - 39pts.

Disappointed with the finish, but bogeys at 15 and 18 into the wind aren't shameful - the one at 17 (complete with 80m drive!) was.

Will be off 6 once the round goes into Golflink - my lowest ever handicap.

yea. So naturally I didn't go in one all day. Gotta love this game.
The last time I got on the green in 2 on the par 5 16th at Mareeba the green wasn't in play. I overshot the temporary green by 40 metres. Gotta love this game.

Short and dinky? ... only 4m per shot shorter than Comm (168m v 172m).

First round a Newcastle for about a month was a good one on Saturday. I won A Grade with 40pts off 1.

Shotgun start from the 14th, I had a crazy start and birdied 6 of the first 8 holes. Included a couple of long bomb putts and a holed bunker shot. Anyway I kept it at -6 for quite a while, and would say I took the gas a bit by bogeying both Par 5's 9 and 10 and doubling 11 with a wayward drive. Managed a birdie on 13 to finish off, but was fairly pissed off by then.

All in all a great day, but it was one of those "one's that got away" type of story...

My first comp round since early October today at Lakeside. I was expecting a large amount of rust, but I actually hit the ball really well early and fell apart late for a choking 35 points.

Strangely, I had a few Grunt moments today of hitting irons too well, and therefore sending it either over the back, or right to the back when the pin was at the front. I had five putts of 60ft or more today.

Camden Lakeside is in absolutely beautiful condition at the moment, except for the many unrepaired pitchmarks in the greens. It is not a coincidence that the club had an ambrose yesterday.

My good 6 wk run came to an end on sat, had -3 in par event at hartfield. However have some good bufferring scores in the handicap record now that are just a bit worse than handicap rounds. Next year the plan is to build on it and shot more low scores. This week will prob be a break off for Christmas and to set about some goals and mental approaches for the new year. Best of wishes to everyone for Christmas. Nuff.

Had 36 points at Bonnie doon today in gale force wind, with freshly cored and sanded greens (was a lottery)

Had 39 points at Monash on Sunday

Had 40 points on Sat at Palm beach

Handicap sitting at 8.2, but if i play to my handicap the next 2 rounds i will drop to 7.

I started the year (Jan) on a handicap of 18, so pretty happy with dropping 10 shots

Super effort that dave, dropping 10 strokes in one year. Well I almost dropped 2 but not quite - 1.4.

Do you know a guy called Andrew Marsh who used to play at Monash?

He moved to cabramatta about 7 years ago and was my Eric Apperly shield team manager.

I think he is ex pga. That guy can play... has a beautiful, graceful left-handed swing.

The Bonnie D greens aren't that bumpy mate, other than #10. They were cored 15 days ago!

Good shooting in that wind, though.

PS - You won a ball.

cheers....

Compared to Monash that i played the day before it was like putting on pebbles versus glass ( i am not bagging bonnie doon - i appreciate all clubs need to core, but inside 3-6 feet was a lottery as they were still quite quick but took bumps and turns when the putt was hit softly from short distance.)

i enjoyed the course - even in that crazy wind!

Might be the benefit of my 2-4ft strategy of "aim at the middle of the hole and smash it". Had 11 putts from 3-8ft on Sun and made 10 of them.

Yeah, i was too scared to do that for fear of running 20 ft past the hole. I dont have the testicular fortitude to do it!

Moved to correct week

Played at Liverpool this morning with my Physio, he sponsors a hole and gets free golf there.

Started off horribly and had an 8 on a easy 320m par 4. Next was a double, I thought it was another train wreck like Mt Broughton. Suddenly on 3 I started to play like 2 years ago the game started to come back. I started to hit the ball with a consistent slight fade shape. Distances were not good but the ball striking was. I no longer had no idea if the ball was going right or left. I knew if it were to bad it was going to be a slice.

Putting was not that flash but to my surprise my short game was back I could hit flop shots again! I was playing with a 12 marker and he was commenting on how I was chipping. pitching and lobbing to no more than 6 feet on many an occasion. The more I played the better it got.

Stats
89 Gross (72 par) 69 nett :)
49 out
40 in :)
8/14 Fairways
2 GIR
4/8 up & Down
1/3 Sand Saves
around 30 putts lots of 2 and 3 feet one putts but a couple of 3 putts.

Very happy with how it turned out after a horrible start. 4 over on the back was awesome.!
