i have been considering a scotty studio select laguna 1.5..... and they seem to go for about $300 on the bay. Is it worth paying considerably more from a future value perspective for a 1/500 model?

After opinions of the cameron collectors experts here!

Got a 1.5 standard delivered for $260 if you like. (With HC)

Thanks for the offer NK, but i will pass.

I can get one new from titleist for $300, or second hand from states for $210.

However there is a 1st 500 brand new in the specs i want for $500, so wanted to know if this is money burnt, or do they hold their value?

it's only worth getting the 1/500 if you keep it mint and don't use it. You then should be able to sell it for more down the track. A used one is not worth that much more than a used standard one.

nah...I think you could invest 500 bucks in bank account and leave it there it would make more money

I cant see 1-500 actually being rare enough to actually jump up in value enough to be a wise investment....I use a scotty California del mar and never considered the 1-500 option..Im also a tad sceptical that the whole 1-500 is legit

You a sceptic dave1? I would never have thought!

(For the record I think the 1/500 is a bit of a rort as well...)

There is a massive market for this stuff in the US and Japan. Plenty of collectors will pay a premium for the 1/500 in mint condition to complete their sets. The premium depends on the desirability of the particular model and finding the right buyer. Though the 1/500s aren't where the big money is to be made in Cameron stuff.
