I'll be there for 4 days in the first week in January, I'll keep an eye out for your golf bag. Let me how wet it is there.

Course is handling the weather well except the the sprinklers shorted last night and every one was running when the first staff arrived this morning. Balls are not plugging and carts are out and about.

I was similar, happy with my j36 pc until I found a set of j38 cb's, resistance is futile. By the middle of the year you will pick them up for around $300 or $350 in your case.

Dotty
30th January 2011, 09:06 PM
Great thread, and it would be a shame for it to be lost.

So I'll now take the $50 challenge ...
Ping G10 / TM VSteel / Cobra Baffler DWS / Cobra S9 / Cleveland CG14 / SC Mid Sur 33" / Cobra GT Cart Bag / Smoothy

Full details is my WITB thread.
Exclusion clauses for theft, breakage in normal course of play and using old Titleist bag for travelling.

It should be easy. I can't be tempted by a G10 driver. ;)

Anyone else?

It works very well with a round grip and the same hand positions as chipping.

This bet stops me getting Kari to make one in the same specs.

I may need to call the referee (Ferrins) over for a ruling.

Ruling 1. The greens at home have just had a heavy coring/sanding and I didn't want to scratch up the finish on my SC. So out of the cupboard came the Ping Anser yesterday. Is it ...

a. Substitution is allowable, as no clubs were purchased?
b. A temporary local rule allows it, but must return to original putter, when course conditions return to normal?
c. Breach of rules and penalty = $50 ?

Ruling 2. Same cupboard, three low-bounce wedges (CG15, 588, SureOut) are now nagging me that they want a trip to the course as well.

Thanks for the generous offer, but it would be wasted here.

The Nascar look with brand names everywhere is not me. No good for resale, as these particular clubs are best described as 'not-exactly-pre-loved'.

Now to go and practice, to shut those nagging wedges up.

Ferrins
12th April 2011, 04:38 PM
Did you last longer than me?

Dotty
12th April 2011, 06:15 PM
Close. I calculate 7 weeks for you and 9 weeks for me.

(Technically, my last club purchase was a lob wedge in Sept. 2010. But there was a flashy white bag and penguin headcovers in October (reward for finally reaching single figures) and a new trolley with Santa cash.)

Dotty
7th August 2011, 03:51 PM
Okay, it's on again (with a slight variation) ...

Tour Burner with V2HL / V Steel / Baffler DWS / Cobra S9 / CG15 48* / 588 53* / Hogan 60* / Rife Aruba

btw. Since the last challenge ended, I swapped around wedges/hybrid/putters sitting in the garage and some Callaway shovels. Also mucked around with a G15 driver (which isn't a patch on the G10), found a shaft for an old TMTB and bought another anser-clone.

But a week of 37, 34, 38, 26 (4th game in 5 days!) and 39 points yesterday, tells me to lock this bag and get lessons, esp. with a driver that finally feels like the rest of the clubs.

And fingers crossed to get back to single figures.

Dotty
7th August 2011, 05:19 PM
I'm in for $50, but as we were both undone by a single club and mayhem followed, then I propose we each have a 'one club leave pass', either from our bench or a purchase.

'Loss of bet' would be as soon as a sixteenth club finds its way into the roster/bag.

No need to nominate upfront (I've edited the reserve club out of my previous post), so we won't miss that 'once in a lifetime' opportunity in the proshop. We just have choose carefully for the next 6-8 months.

Agreed however the club consists of the head only, so shafts can be changed if required.

Is that G10 hybrid going in the bag?

Dotty

Is that G10 hybrid going in the bag?
Nope, that's very long-term and most likely a starter club for a nephew.

But there is a 54* and 58* wedge that may find their way there. I'll do some testing during the week, to see whether one or both go in the bag.

Curse the OzGolf merry-go-round that makes good stuff available cheaply. Maybe we could change it to 16 club limit. ;)

If all the irons are the same make and model, could that count as one club?

Stupid, stupid bet. The theory was 'lock the bag, get some lessons and remove the need to ho'.

In reality, tempted by a couple of wedges last week, but resisted putting them in the bag straight away. Yesterday, I got a lesson, had a practice in the yard last night and the X20s purchased a few months back felt so much better than the old Cobras. (On the upside, the X20s performed fine this morning.)

I'll send $50 off, when the 2012 Leon Treadwell Day fundraising kicks off.

I need to state that I have a long standing designated OZgolf Champs bag.

This is only for use at the big OZgolf events.

Palmer Bay Hill 1,3 & 5 wood. Driver has 185cc head
Brosnan Tour Classics 2-sw
Spalding TPM 3

Bag is a red Brosnan staff bag with matching headcovers.

Sling the $50 into Bowdo's fundraiser day, I'm sure no one will mind. Your indiscretions with your clubs might get you a cool golf day,
