If I don't get to play with my chums (which aren't many), then I'll just book my own group at pelican.

Will there be a ceremonial starter? ie. golfer69 bunts one down the first to get things rolling.

Will there be a "marquee" group of 2011 major/classic winners?

Will the former champs have a parade of honour before kickoff ?

Will we have an official starter (peteyd?) with microphone to introduce the players onto the tee, together with a brief bio for the gallery ie. post count, WITB, hcap, best results this year, prior champs results....

Being a first timer I don't care who I play with.
I proberly fit into all but the homo catagory, but its usually a 8-10 bourbon can trip around a golf coarse so I'll have my own fun if I have to.

I have memories of someone failing to finish a round after going too hard too fast and Peter_rs having to walk the remaining holes on his own.

I would like to pay the full amount for the 2 days of Pelican. Having already paid the deposit, do I pay the balance or the full amount? There was rumour of the deposit being used for prizes, so I am unsure.

Thats how I play ever week.

Just have to be careful topping up the next day. That has caught me out a few times!

For me the best parts of the Champs have been the communal Saturday nights - the Bribie Pool Comp and Parmigiana Night/the Kooralbyn Lawn Bowls adventure/watching Tezza eat a huge main meal Steak entree, seafood platter for 2 and then a couple of desserts down at the Tweed/Pelican's coins against the wall,Shavey's neverending card games etc etc etc - happy to go anywhere...

Eagle on 18 after drinkin said bottle of Jim.
Poidda's rope incident.
Finishing so far ahead of the group behind that we had time to go back to our rooms, have a shower, a couple more drink and then return to the 18th green and see that they were only halfway down the hole. Who were those slow bastards? They really should be at the tail of the field for life.

Bruce
4th October 2011, 09:59 AM
It's a shame your eagle was witnessed by so few sms. Just groups 1 and 2....

I will only play cards if there is a limit of one buy back in and preferably zero. Playing with Shavey turns into an endurance test otherwise and one I am not prepared to endure.

Just (no pun intended) for the record, I've looked at doing the draw a couple of ways based around a discussion with PeteyD.

The main priority being to keep it mixed.

Given the constructive and wanker feedback received (personal or otherwise) I've asked for the handicaps to see what that would look like against a mixed/newbie draw.

Mixed/Newbies being having visitors in each group then trying to have the other players spread so that those that they play regularly together don't at the Champs. (On the Saturday at least)

Keep in mind also based upon the first random draw I've done, it was then compared against what Shavey has done up for Coolum on the Friday to reduce the double up for two days, and on that random there was only one.

Having only received the handicaps for the players this morning, Ill look at it doing this one tonight to compare.

This done yet?

I'm sorry to say that Supo67 can't get down from Japan for the champs! A sorry saga of a new job and a lack of staff are preventing him! This of course will save the bank accounts of those that covert his 'expensive' array of Japanese Golf clubs.

OK all good for playing cart golf from the doc. As long as I am careful etc. Bunt time :D.

We are currently at 48 players for Pelican so if PeteyD plays (which we all want him too) this will obviously change things with a few 3 balls.

Hold the phone, theres a slim chance I can make this. My brother may not be stopping Brisbane on his way to the RWC in NZ. The good thing is I won't have to do the family thing for his birthday and I can come to the champs, the bad thing is he's leaving me to tell my parents if he doesn't stop at home on the way through. Whens the latest I can do a Ferrins change my status and let you know? Should know by Sunday.

I was trying to swap groups to an early one so I could go home for a couple of hours on Saturday for his birthday and then come back late evening, when Neddy said that shavey won't entertain changing groups the family thing came first but it may not be a prob at all. Huzzah! FTW!

Friday night- are we just gonna say get some pizzas or something? And if we do and it's not being used can we eat them out on the terrace? Or is that poor form? Shavey?

Very poor form goughy and wouldn't be permitted, especially with yours truly involved.

I'll still have the apartment everybody can lob up to on the Friday night which will should be large enough for 20+ providing we keep things quiet...
