Mate's play in Brisbane next week or so. What courses can you recommend close to the city. He's playing with two 60 deg wedge players and corporate types so does need to be to flash.

Thanks

St Lucia.

Not worried about budget. Around an hour if possible.

Brookwater then.

Are they members here? Do they have recips with RQ?

I'm not sure either, maybe they think they have game but don't?

BrisVegas

I've never seen someone over 60 with a 60* wedge!

If budget doesn't matter and everyone is from out of town contact RQ. No brainer. You would spend $200 at RQ and get much better value than Brookwater ($120??) any day.

Besides, Brookwater isn't in Brisbane.

Indooroopilly Golf Course, Keperra Golf Course, There are a few on teh way to each coast. North Lakes is quite a nice course although tight fairways.

That was what was requested of me. I have no idea - maybe. They are a pair of hackers who need soft fluffy lies so that they can use those wedges.

I don't play well enough to use a 60 wedge.

He is a member of the Vines and should have a reciprocal. I'll also pass on Royal Queensland and Brookwater.

Gee, that narrows it down to about 50 golf courses, you could get on any of the Gold coast trash in that time.

With whom?

Moe Norman

who knows, but its reasonable to assume they would have a reciprocal in Brisbane.

Not RQ. Not Indro.

Unless they have BGC, I'd suggest nothing in Brisbane.

Moe Norman
16th November 2010, 10:34 AM
Nope, BGC's WA recips are LK, Royal Perth and Royal Fremantle off the top of my head.

I seem to remember the Vines having a deal with Sanctuary Cove and Pacific, not sure though.

sms316

Is the Vines privately owned? Most privately owned courses don't go for the reciprocal gravy train. Maybe a reduction in prices but that is about it.

Moe Norman
16th November 2010, 10:45 AM
I know they have recips with Bayview in Sydney, Glenelg in SA and a few others just by doing a google search. So they have reciprocal arrangement in most cities.

Brookie is probably looking the best option if no reciprocals with RQ, Indooroopilly or BGC. Unless they know a member who can get them on to one of those 3. Or you go with the public course at Indro? It is probably 40 mins drive out to Brookwater from the CBD, but it can get pretty hot this time of year so earlier the better I reckon.

After that? Pacific, Keperra, or Virginia I guess.

actually, the afternoons are often better as there is usually a breeze. The mornings can be humid on a still day. Probably not worth the drive for a group of hackers to get demoralised by the course. A nicer day would be to play St Lucia or Indro. St Lucia has a nice outdoor bar area too.

So you are going to make us play in the breathless humidity then on the 5th;)

If budget is not an issue you can get on nearly any course in Australia. All you have to do is ask.

Most private courses are available to out of state visitors with a letter of introduction. Just costs more.

The Vines is a resort course, Sanctuary at least. Will have to look it up.

looking at the website, it appears you don't have any currently

Most privately owned golf courses do not seem to be interested in making reciprocal rights arrangements, probably because there is nothing in it for the owners.

ok cool thanks

looking at playing some of the higher end courses in Brisbane can anyone recommend any I am looking for like a top 10 in bris

PeteyD

Not sure there is a top 10 in Brisbane. RQ/Brookwater/Indoo. Maybe Brisbane but I haven't played it.

Then you drop back to club courses and it depends on what you want.

Hmm,

I'll try and set up a game on a Sunday in the next few weeks then.

Or maybe a midweek game to minimise demand!

BrisVegas

do they still make visitors run through the cattle dips before letting them onto the course Moe?

(not that there's anything wrong with that )

Yes.

I will be doing a dress code inspection in the car park first and will send any law breakers home without dinner.

Midweek not so good for me at the moment. Probably not able to make something until next year Moe, but I'll keep my eyes open for a thread.

I haven't paid my fees yet, so it's at least a few weeks away because I don't have access to the course or website at the moment due to late payment!
