Whats the easiest way to do this? Just use a heat gun and twist it off?

The term "gently" is what you wish to adhere to...

Don't twist if you want to keep the shaft.

Just picked up a shaft with the tip still on it. Want to put the shaft into a Burner 09 TP head. So will I clamp the shaft and heat the aluminium tip then use a pair of pliers to remove "gently"?

That would do the trick!
As goonie said, try sliding straight off with minimal twisting of the sleeve.
They are a little thicker than most hosels so need a fair bit of heat to loosen the glue, imo?

Please DO NOT TWIST...
Just pull off in a straight line with as little twisting as possible.

Yes carefully is the key, they are only made of aluminium.
I recently reshafted a Supertri that my uncle picked up in the states, it had a rubber ferrule on the tip as opposed to the tips that you can by that are all aluminium. Melted when I pulled the shaft.

If you want to re use the shaft best to use a shaft puller, then you can use the least amount of heat and save the shaft. I would be worried about over heating and bending using pliers. Doesn't matter with steel shafts but you want to use a little heat as possible with graphite.

I think your meant to pop the plastic cover off first.

I am going to leave it for the local pro. See what he can break. I also have to get an I15 head shafted so he can do both drivers.

Tip came off in a shaft extractor in a few secs and the shaft is fine. Ready to be installed tomorrow into my Burner TP.

The R9 and R9 460 were all aluminium, the supertri and superdeep came with a plastic cover on the sleeve, they are interchangable thou.
