Just trying to gauge interest at this stage.

I participated in this this year, I recognise that it is a long season and a big committment, but is also heaps of fun.

I was thinking as there is 3 seasons on the PGA tour calendar, the following could apply

$10 from each competitor to the winner of the first season.
$10 from each competitor to the winner of the second season.
$10 from each competitor to the winner of the third season.
$10 from each competitor to the overall winner.

Note: If you committ to the comp you committ for the whole season i.e. you are up for the whole $40 regardless.

I'm happy to admin the comp and the normal Fantasy Golf rules apply, refer online for those, although the one rule that I can recall is that you can only pick specific golfers a certain amount of times for the year, I think it might be 12. And you can only swap golfers from your weekly selections at the conclusion of each round, this can sometimes present problems with our time zones.

Anyway let me know who might be interested and if enough people are keen I'll get it up and going.

chappy1970

Peppas,
For each event the field is divided in to Group A, B and C.

I'm not sure of the criteria for each however the higher ranked players seemed to be pooled in A and so forth down to B and C.

You are allowed 8 players per event; 2 for A, 4 for B and 2 for C, with only 1 A, 2 B and 1 C player being in your live line up for each days play. You can change any/all of your line up after rd1, 2 and 3 are completed.

The 8 you select are the 8 you have for that tourney, points are awarded after the conclusion of each round based on their position in the field relative to the leader. Bonuses are awarded for the members of your LIVE team that are leading after the tourney.

That's about it in a nutshell.

It's great fun and you can stink it up in a few tourney's without affecting your chances of winning. You only need to have the winner in your team 5-6 times for the year to have a big chance of winning.

I think a minimum of about 10-12 Ozgolfers is need to make it worth while so I'll wait to see if there is any more interest.

To all who haven't played before.
You must review your roster each week, the team you pick one week, will remain there for the next week unless changed by the team owner. This means that if the players aren't playing in the next weeks event your roster will be a man down.

Also, each player can only ever be selected 10 times for the year. I ran in to trouble with Ernie Els late in this years season.

There aren't too many gotcha's, just a couple of critical ones you need to be aware of.

I played the fantasy World Cup. That was ok because you only had to change the roster once a week. This looks pretty high maintenance, potentially changing your roster 3 times in a weekend. I'll give it a go.

chappy1970

Mike that can happen, but if you pick a team that performs poor enough, you don't have to worry about shuffling the team over the weekend.

I really enjoyed this comp last season and got the chocolates from a comp with 40 tipsters after stringing together 5 weeks in a row when I picked the winner each week in the last season.

Hears hoping I can do it again

So let me get this right - you choose 8 players for a tournament and can only play 4 a round. So you can swap your bench players in for different rounds if a player misses the cut or something?

Then for the next tournament you can choose a completely different set of players?

Sounds right to me. Points are awarded for low rounds and then how many strokes back from the low round that your squad had.

Bonus points are awarded for places as well.

I struggled to find the rules on the site but a quick google search had me sorted in minutes.

chappy1970
5th January 2011, 09:28 AM
Yes Peppas and Mega, correct.

I'm not sure how they bracket the A, B and C players as some top 10 players can appear in the B group.

It's common for tipsters to select similar top tier players in their line up. The best way to get a jump on the tipping group is to jag a player from group C who either wins the event or comes very close.

Now to find them, that is the problem.

Let me get this right. We can swap our bench player with our current player from the 8 guys picked for this tournament. For eg I can swap my A group player with the bench A group player for round 2?

If this is correct, how do I do it? How do I swap Kuchar for Furyk in my A group?

chappy1970
7th January 2011, 03:04 PM
Matty if you have Furyk as your active Group A player and you have Kuchar on the bench, simply click the blue section of the player and drag them accross to the left hand side where Furyk is.

Kuchar will then take Furyk's place, like he has with Graeme MacDowell for me :)

Heaps of teams have players missing after being cut!

36 holes for them all tomorrow.

mike
16th January 2011, 10:21 PM
I dunno how the scoring works either Here you go.
A player can receive a maximum of 20 fantasy points in each round of a tournament. The player with the lowest real-life score in a round receives 20 points. Other players receive two fewer points for every stroke they finish behind the leader - i.e. a player one stroke back for the round receives 18 points, a player two strokes back gets 16. Players 10 or more strokes back receive zero points.
You receive the total points earned by all active players on your team in each round provided that they have not already been active in 10 tournaments (see the Maximum Starts (http://help.yahoo.com/help/golf/grules/grules-06.html) section for more information).
Bonus points are awarded for players placing in the top three at each tournament. First place players earn 20 bonus points, second place 10 and third place 5. To earn bonus points for your team, a player must be active for at least one round of the tournament.

but my team sucks right now... You have GOT to be kidding. You've got the leader and a 6th there. You should swap Choi for Els. No, on second thoughts leave it as it is.

Aha, you notice that, the problem is I had him on my bench when he shot his -6. So I didn't get any points! I've only had 2 guys scoring me points most days, Day and Rose. KJ didn't make the cut :( Woops, I never check the leaderboard, I'll shut up now.

I see that a number of players who made the cut still didn't get to platy the last round. They have a status of MDF, not sure what that means, but all my active players got a start in the last round anyway :)

MegaWatty
17th January 2011, 12:05 PM
Is a rule where they for example have a cut of 70 plus ties with a maximum of 76. If there are more than 76 then they go to the closest score to 70 players for the cut.

The MDF players get Fedex points and cash but don't play the weekend.

chappy1970

MegaWatty

Mark Wilson is a very solid player, that is his third win in four years.

Marto65
17th January 2011, 03:47 PM
Is a rule where they for example have a cut of 70 plus ties with a maximum of 76. If there are more than 76 then they go to the closest score to 70 players for the cut.

The MDF players get Fedex points and cash but don't play the weekend.

It probably had something to do with them having to get through 36 holes today.

I think I did ok this tourney ... just waiting for the final points.

MegaWatty
17th January 2011, 03:56 PM
It was invoked in a tighter fashion this tourney, but it's been around since 2008 I think I read.

Seems I performed in this comp a year to early.

The winner on Fantasy Golf this year in the MYGOLFSPY league gets a brand new set of MP-53's. I won last year and got some nice prizes, but nothing like that

matty
25th January 2011, 06:32 PM
You can change your players for each round if you want. It might be that one of your starting 4 have a shocker and you want to swap him for one of your reserves. If you use someone for 1 round or all 4 rounds it means you have used them once out of the ten times you can use them throughout the year. Remember to press SAVE if you swap players around between rounds or when selecting them.

Pure luck mate :) Honestly I don't know much about the PGA tour, just pick people I've heard of and if I have a spare slot just pick a dude. That's how I picked Haas. But he's on my bench anyways, Fowler and Mahan are both coming in at 3rd so not sure who to take out if I take one out... so might just leave it for now :) Do I still get the bonus points if someone on my bench comes first?

mike
29th January 2011, 09:04 PM
To earn bonus points for your team, a player must be active for at least one round of the tournament.

If you think Haas might win you'd better use him.

[/B]If you think Haas might win you'd better use him.
