NQ Matchplay Rules

- The draw will be performed immediately after the 2010 Matchplay Final on 06/11/10 at Sea Temple. Names will be drawn out of a hat by the 2010 Winner and positioned on the draw (below) in the order they are drawn. These positions are final. If anyone doesn't like it they will be forfeited and possibly banned.

- Comp is knockout. Once you lose, you're out. There must be a result before the next round can commence, so I recommend against leaving matches until right before the deadline. Rematches are encouraged if time allows, but not compulsory. Entrants may agree to make other arrangements at their own discretion, as long as I am advised of the outcome. If anyone doesn't like it they will be forfeited and possibly banned.

- Completion dates for each round are firm but may be relaxed (at my discretion) as long as effort is being made to get match played (ie. rematches due to draws). Otherwise I will forfeit both and possibly ban both.

- A new 1st Tee thread needs to be started for each match. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture and potential banning.

- More will be added (if necessary) as I think of it.

1st amendment: Just in case you didn't get the hint, whingers will be forfeited and possibly banned (not necessarily in that order).

2nd amendment: Current handicaps as per Golflink must be used. Handicap fixing (or suspicion of handicap fixing) will result in being forfeited and possibly banned.

The greens are excellent at the moment but the rest of the course is a little scrappy.

Do they now? Timesheet or just show up?

I don't have a problem slotting him in, but the only fair thing to do is ask for one of the guys with a bye to volunteer to play him in the first round. Any takers (Mike & Grumpy, I'm looking at you ;)).

G'day Courty, not sure how hard and fast your draw rules are, but I was wondering , you know, if it's not too late, and, you know if the group was ok with it, and you know, because it would be hilarious.......... instead of Grumpy getting a bye, you would be amenable to taking on a late entrant and letting his "son-in-law" (me) have a crack?

As there have been no matches played so far, I have no issue with it at all. However, a precedent was set by the inclusion of poc. Grumpy will need to agree to give up the bye first. I'll send him a PM, but it sounds like you may be able to get word to him first. If you do, can you get him to post his answer in this thread?

OK guys and Julie, the greenkeeper that has trashed the joint up here for the last 9 months or so has been shown the door. I hear we have a new guy starting soon and in the interim one of the members ( a genius in course maintenance ) is taking the reins.

Hopefully Mareeba will return to it's former self before long.

If DCANTO and I don't get it done before I leave on 20 Feb I'm afraid I may have to forfeit as I won't be back in Cairns until April and then we are heading over to Perth for a couple of weeks for a wedding.

I'm the first to admit I'm not Livio Regano and I hate it when members ask me what the course conditions will be like "next Saturday week, mate?", so I won't waste everyone's time asking where will be good, especially with the rain we are getting. Sea Temple on the 13th is ok so long as we can tee off early. I need to make sure I'm back for my God-mother's 60th birthday lunch. Coming from a wog background one thing you don't do is miss your God-mother's 60th birthday otherwise you could end up wearing a pair of concrete Footjoys.

I only have Wed's & Thur's off now (roster change) but can get away at 12 on Fridays. Had already organised for this Sunday to play my Matchplay because I am extremely committed (yes, I used the 'C' word) to the OzGolf group. It is now apparent to me that you are all quite soft and squishy on the inside and as such I feel that I fit in even better with you all. As long as I get plenty of notice and there isn't anything super exciting on at Royal G'vale *cough, cough*, I can get quiet Sunday's off occasionally. What's Cairns looking like for Wed or Thur comp?

Courty
7th February 2011, 07:19 PM
Walked the front 9 at Cairns this afternoon. It was soft, wet & slow, but no worse than when we had all that rain a few weeks back. Still a lot of leaf litter lying around, but the big limbs etc have been shifted away from the playing lines. Greens were slow, but should be mostly ok after a decent mow.

You should give us an extension. I'm a mechanic and he's a solicitor. Very dangerous combination.

You going to the Taipans tomorrow? I am.

Yep. I have a season ticket not far from Solarman. Haysey may chose to make an appearance for the 2nd time this season.

Nope. They can't afford my appearance fee, besides they're still shit.

Hope the ticket was free, Mike.

POC has been extremely busy especially since he pinged off someone oin his staff and his kid leaving.
I hope they have a high chair for you Mike to see over the railings so you can watch the game.

I hope you're sitting in front of me so I can accidentally spill beer on you.

Do they sell beer there?

Re Matchplay, if poc and I don't play next weekend I'm happy to go with a toss of the coin.

Yes. Alchohol has been the only thing to get me through many a Taipans game.
