Well Yoss, JC, IDG & myself took in a quiet little game up at the picturesque Araluen Country Club today, and after JC was 30mins late to our tee time and we were hitting into 45km/h winds on the first the day rolled on with some good golf and some awesome drives by JC into the wind that seemed to continually turn directly into us at every shot.

So we get to the 9th for those that don't know this hole it is a good closing hole for the front 9 after a brutal par 5 before it.
You've got to hit your drive only about 170m then the hill will run the ball down a big hill about another 100m to a small landing area where me, Yoss, JC all ended up. IDG was off to the left. So once we had all got down to where we were to play our 2nd shot from we headed over to find IDG's ball.

After 5 mins no luck was had and IDG said lets move on, so back we walk (50m) to our buggies - JC then puts out the call "which one of you c***s moved my buggy?"
we look at each other and say not us, he then repeats the call with a bit more colourful take on things.
It then hits us that things may have taken a turn for the worse -

this is what we found:

Where did you hide my buggy, there was nowhere to hide the buggy, ah ****!

The worst bit was those reeds looked like wet pieces of shit.

Damn...that sucks JC....I am however LMAO :D Sorry bud. The lightbulb moment must have been something to witness.

To think I said it couldn't be the Canadian, he's too clever to do something like this!

Good thing we've got a few warmer days to dry things out.

How many points for the Canadian after his impromptu swim?

Pic three is just prior to him going Incredible Hulk?

simmsy

I believe there will be a:

Leupold GX I (rain proof) but not designed to give a yardage from 3' under water.
Nokia 97 &
1 set of car keys to a Toyota Camry going up for sale in the Pro Shop tonight.....

Some water damage evident but all look in good condition.

Yossarian

He won lots of internet money to his credit. He lost a lip balm.

Lol, unlucky.

Did the brake fail or wasn't it used? I've played Araluen a few times. That 9th hole and the 16th are fantastic.

I would be carting it there anyway. too hard to walk.

And that nasty hole ate about 3 of my balls last time i played there.

The real truths:

No brake was used.

I was only 5 minutes late, due to the internet providing directions to a street with a large sign reading "No Access to GOlf Course". The pro shop guy was aware of this.

My 5 iron was 25m past Simmsy's 4 wood on the hole in question. We were not "all at the 100m mark".

On the 10th hole, I won 3 skins, after being forced into hitting certain clubs due to wet grips.

Playing without headcovers sucks.

The water was disgusting.

I pulled out one ball for my troubles, it was an Ultra. **** me.

The boys were very helpful throughout the process.

The keys work.

The phone and the rangefinder do not.

Awesome course, possibly WA's finest.

Yossarian
6th October 2010, 10:22 PM
The 5 iron was probably a little short and left.

Adlo, it was just one of those moments when everyone realised it had to be in drink.

JC any luck with warranty with RF??

Haven't looked into it yet, will do soon. Hoping it comes back to life tomorrow after spending the night in a bowl of rice.

GN, no invite because:
4balls are the max and we had 4
We were playing $1 skins and NTPs, which you prob wouldn't have wanted to do
We can't figure out 3/4 of your handicap

Ha! That's gold! Those three wheelers can be bloody dangerous sometimes.

Nah, it's cool JC......I just had a really early start today and wanted a game....I was tempted to post up yesterday arvo but thought most would be working or busy (played Maylands anyway)....Araluen is high on the list to play this month if anyone's keen to do it again mid week.

I'm definitely down for skins anytime mate....need to win some internet money back off you and Yoss!

Looks like I missed out on ONE laugh and a half!

Hopefully the RF comes good, JC. Too bad about the nokia.

I wonder how fast the buggy was actually going when it reached the pond?

On a more serious note IDGG, did Araluen look much better than when we both played there last - nearly 2 yrs ago?

There was lots of ironstone then and dry patches just off the centre of the fairways.

The layout was great last time, but need to go back again if it's improved.

Rough is rocky and so are the bunkers.

By the way - I paid out the full amount for skins less $1 because of a halved 18th.

Internet money! My foot...it was cold hard cash.

Lucky JC didn't have to pay out for the day...all his money would have been cold, hard, WET cash !!

How did the Leupold come out of it this morning JC, after a soothing night in a bowl of rice ??

In other news, Zigwah and his brother were seen driving a golf cart around Araluen laughing maniacally not long after the incident.

Eldrick
7th October 2010, 01:38 PM
why is Damien Martyn going through JC's golf bag?

It's actually a decent hole. Thank god it didn't happen on 17 at The Cut or I would have burnt the place to the ground.

The rangefinder has not recovered. I may start a thread seeing if anyone has purchased one in the past year and see if I can get a receipt to claim warranty. Mine is a little outside of the year purchase period.
