Sure did GN , but we still had fun killing mozzies.

You would have enjoyed MCC as it is a fair test for all handicaps.

The greens are smooth , true and all the same pace.

How did you get your wife pregnant when you alway pull out at the last minute ?

First time pull out for me though for last Sunday, was a very rough week with all in the family sick including wifey who never ever gets sick....... I'd been out to play a couple of times during the week so did the righty by the family.......hate missing any OZgolf day but weekend play is becoming a thing of the past for me these days......

Really miss the big midweek games we used to do.

Not really a trade off JC, as much as I'd love to be there, me making The Don's 30th was unlikely anyway being a Sunday......PF and I are heading out to Araluen next Thursday if all goes to plan.

Araluen - Arguably the best designed course in Perth Area. imo.

Tell everyone the real reason GN - you know, we know and you know your wife knows we know. so just say it.....

Enjoy Gheylands Ambrose!

Pop a chill pill fellas......It's not an excuse, I was never in pencil & never said I was likely.....You all know Sunday Golf for me at the moment is an unlikely proposition and no ones hiding the fact my wife's not a fan of it. And to be dead honest, I agree with her re. Sunday's being family day as it's the only chance we get to really spend time with the kids and catchup with family....we have quite big extended families on both sides so more than likely there's something on most Sundays and I don't think it's right to expect my wife to go off to these family dos with 3 little ones while I'm off galavanting.......Saturday and midweek golf is no problems hence my few little moaning comments in other threads about there not being enough mid week stuff anymore.

AND NOW IF I REALLY NEED TO EXPLAIN MYSELF TO YOU 2: My best mate asked me to play in his team on the Ambrose day a while back prior to the date being set and I said yes......date was confirmed yesterday and I gave him my word prior, it's also my brother's birthday that weekend and we normally go out and play a round so this ties in with it. I didn't even bother running Araluen past my wife after that.

Happy with that you two cranky bastards?

The best thing is that there is a decent A grade course near the hotel and a decent A grade course near the office. One on the way, one on the way home.

I'm thinking my buddy may be a prime candidate for a spare set of sticks. He plays Cally X18s. I wonder if I can sort him out with a second set?!?!?!

I'm afraid I'm oot for this boys!

The Founders Cup is on that weekend at Mt Lawley (Sat/Sun 36 Hole stableford), and I'd already committed to playing with a group. Just didn't realise until yesterday that it was on the 30th/31st, as they'd changed the date from the fixture list.

It's one of the two biggest Honour Board events at MLGC, and as a past winner I am encouraged by the club to play every year.

Pity. Would have liked to have had another crack at Araluen.

Yep, he sure has.

I think he has kept a "social" type membership just so he can catch up and have a drink with the boys occasionally.

A combination of poor play and an elbow injury finally got to him.

Funnily enough he did have a set of the Callaway X20's but a steadily declining game led him to change about 12 months ago. He he has been playing the Titleist AP2's (I think, the forgiving ones anyway) ever since.

Seriously, anything but VB or Crowne Lager (aka. VB in a flash bottle)

Hoegaarden's the favourite still.

Have a good time tomorrow guys at Araluen and happy birthday Adlo.

JC was hitting the ball very nice during our catchup round through the week, so lets see how he goes tomorrow and hopefully his buggy remains in the "lithosphere" and doesn't quite end up in the "hydrosphere" again :)

I know this topic came and went a few pages back, but I couldnt help but contribute:

Hoegaarden's a great choice of beer Golfnut, maybe I should get me a slab from that bottleshop where JC gets it from.

From working in a lawn bowls club for over 5 years, and mixing with a lot of rich australian representative lawn bowlers who knew their stuff well, I got to work out quickly what beers tasted the best.

From what I've learnt, overseas they sell Fosters at a very cheap price and here they stick it in a fancy bottle, call it "Crown Larger" and double the price, what buggers C&U! I'm with you Golfnut - It's not that great a drop either, just about average really.

Tooheys NEW and VB, well dont get me started on them. They'd both kill a brown dog IMO :) bottom of the ladder for sure... with Carlton Cold just above.

Coopers Sparkling Ale is still one of my favorites of all time. Squires Amber Ale, Little Creatures Bright and Gage Roads Indian Pale Ale, now they have good taste too.

For a good smooth-budget larger to drink in the summer months, try that Dry Dock (Sail and Anchor Beer). It has impressed me so far in its short lifespan.

Tooheys Extra Dry?? Well it was good once upon a time back around 2001, but has now slipped further down the ladder towards the "VB" category. I'd give that one a miss now.
