View Full Version : Qld: Oxley GC, Friday September 24, 9:48am

Iain and I have decided to try and get our semi played on Friday the 24th. As I will have only just got back from Melbourne the night before, I need to play early so I can get home in good time.

Nudgee and Wynnum are likely candidates, although Oxley might work too, since it is close to home (but has tee times after 9:30a). We thought perhaps we could play where there might be a bit more interest from OZgolfers in playing as well.
Is the comp of the day on Nudgee South or is it that composite thing?

Express your interest and desired course.

6. Timah! (Nudgee) Although very VERY tentative as it will be last morning of moving house. Earlier the better

Any chance of playing Wynnum, Tim? If we played there, I would be aiming for as early as possible.

Into the 2nd group the Spaniard goes.... ;)

I'll give Wynnum a call tomorrow morning to get a time as early as possible, assuming that the time sheet is out.

AndyP
10th September 2010, 08:22 AM
Office opens at 10am for tee times. Can anyone else book the couple of groups in? I don't know if I will be near a phone or a PC at that time or the rest of the day.

AndyP
10th September 2010, 10:34 AM
I've tentatively booked two groups at 10:04a and 10:11a (the only full groups left on the timesheet after they were released at 6:30a this morning). This rules timah! out, and to be honest, I don't think I should play at that time either.

AndyP
10th September 2010, 05:50 PM
I can't do anything about it until late tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. I'll either go for an afternoon time at Wynnum, or try Nudgee GC for an early morning time, unless someone does it before I get to do it.

Are we totally locked in for Nudgee/Wynnum?
No love for Redcliffe/Virginia/Carbrook or Windaroo?

Sorry guys if we can't get anything earlier than 10:00 then I will need to pull out.

Would need a game around 7-8 am.

At this stage, both courses at Nudgee are booked out for some event thing. The lady in the pro shop said try again next weekend, to see if they have a better idea if they'll need both courses, but that doesn't sound promising.

Any other suggestions? I don't know how far you all need/want to travel.

No love for Redcliffe/Virginia/Carbrook or Windaroo? Not locked in, but they were the Friday comp options.
As I've stated earlier, I need half of the day at home, therefore the round needs to be early morning or early afternoon and not too far away from home (Sinnamon Park). Wynnum was pushing it in the first place. I personally wouldn't rule a social game out, but it's generally more expensive than comp golf.

I'm away from home on dialup, but home for the next couple of days, so we'll have to sort something out by then or else reschedule the matchplay.

I'm in the same boat as you Andy, 24th is the last day of moving, but with handing over the keys in the arvo, its definitely am for me.

Would St Lucia be too far? $29 a round.

I am off that day so I don't care about the time.

Hitting to some make shift holes at a council park would be better than St Lucia.

Really? I've never played there, but had been told its not too bad.

How about frisbie golf at Nudgee Beach

AndyP
14th September 2010, 04:02 PM
Guys, I have made the call that Iain and I playing our matchplay is the priority of organising this particular game. So I had to look after us first, particularly me, who is short on time and brownie points that day. If it doesn't fit with your plans, I apologise. Feel free to book elsewhere.

I have booked a group at Oxley GC in the comp for 9:48a. It is a stableford comp.
This probably rules timah! and nudgee out, but please confirm. As a result, Ferrins may end up being a stray fifth. There is another group available at 10a, if needed.

The following players were interested parties and that will be the order of preference for the group booked. With Daves on holiday and not fussy on where/when we played, I will assume that he is in.

You'll need to convince Ferrins or Nudg.

nudgee
14th September 2010, 06:35 PM
If Daves is in then you have four already with Eags as well, if Daves is out then I will have a go as I am thinking of taking a day off anyway.

AndyP
14th September 2010, 06:42 PM
But if Daves is in, Ferrins is back in (since it won't be just five players) and jarro is in, then we could have another group.

Jarro

nah, not that interested really.

I'll withdraw my interest now.

nudgee
20th September 2010, 11:21 AM
Oh well I guess that means "full group" sign goes up as Eags has also confirmed attendance.

I was really looking forward to playing Oxley as I have not played it in quite a while! :(

Hot off the press.

2nd last report - AP was one up with 3 to go.....

Final result. The King of Ties has managed to do it again.....a tie.

Question is...was it good golf by Iain to come back or a choke by AP to finish :-)

Should be interesting to see whether these two can get a result before the champs. Perhaps they will both get their wish of a MP round at Horton Park (against each other in a semi replay) :-)

One shouldn't believe what one reads in a text message. You're one stage away from sending money to Nigeria.

Seems that Iain won something today, a prize in the lucky card draw.:lol: From memory Jaybam did as well after Hux stitched him up at Oxley a few weeks ago!

Might be a pro pin. Did you pay the extra $ to be eligible for a pro pin.

AndyP
25th September 2010, 07:20 AM
That's right. You have to go into the pro shop especially just to pay for that, which is stupid.

Eag's
25th September 2010, 07:37 AM
Righto, that would explain it.

Daves
25th September 2010, 10:22 AM
Ha, completely forgot about the $2 pro pin set up at Oxley. They only seem to publish the results if they feel like. I had to ask about my winnings from last round there. And you have to go to both the club area and the Pro shop to collect!

Runner up in Div 1 yesterday was 38pts on a cb, so Andy would have score a ball in the rundown at least.

AndyP
25th September 2010, 03:32 PM
Eag's, tell everyone about your birdie. Did we work out how far your approach carried in the air? Loooooooong.
