Outcast

Wednesday Comp at Cairns GC

80 / 70 - 38pts

FIR 10
GIR 8
Birdies 1
Pars 10
Bogey 5
Other 2 (Doubles)
Putts 33 (2 x 3 putts this week!!)

Not too bad, reasonably steady without too many stupid shots... just wish the putter would run a little hotter though 32 is average for me.:(

18/08/10, Muree GC, Stableford.

10/14 effective fairways.
7/18 effective approaches.
4/8 up and down successes.
34 putts (one 4-putt).
------------------------
1 birdie.
7 pars.
6 bogeys.
4 others.

Score: 42-45-87 stab 16-16-32pts (Par 35-36-71 ACR 70)
H/cap Change: +0.3 to 12.5 (13). Just before matchplay against g69. Oh bother!

More of the same. In fact, it's my fourth consecutive comp round playing to 17. I'm playing well with the exception of a few bad holes (I didn't have any one pointers). When some of those occur because of bad decision making (like today) or lack of commitment to the shot, then I know I can improve my score.

Next round: I may have a hit before then, but I'm definitely playing matchplay against golfer69 at Carbrook next Wednesday.

Reddie Bay Single Stableford today 22/12 = 34 points

4/18 GIR
7/14 FIR
32 putts

1 birdie
5 pars
8 bogeys

1 triple

A round that got a way. I was even par after 6 holes and putting for birdie on 7th.:(

Glenmore Heritage, single stableford.

I sort of came crashing back to earth after my comp win last week. 28 points (13/15) was lowlighted by a few lackadaisical moments where my putter got lazy, and on 2 occasions what should have been simple 2 putt pars turned into 4 putts. Add to that a couple of flubbed chips and 2 balls into the water on the 17th, and that sums up the round. The wind was variable and did get a little blowy as the round progressed, but I can't blame that for much. Concentration was just lacking today.

Next comp round there probably won't be for a couple of weeks due to a change in my work hours next Thursday, but next round is scheduled to be @ Lynwood on Sunday week.

I think he started with the eagle.

Even better: Eagle, par, then four birdies on the trot. 5-under through five.

Yup! That would have been something to watch.

Fook Me Dead !!!!! Great score. New course record ???

Pity for him that they don't play a European Tour event there...now that would be something to see, a Sergio dummy spit at the woodchips.

I'm guessing it's a course record, but it wasn't from the tips. A few of the tees were forward. I have no idea how course records work.

I think he benefitted from the good pace greens that were running very pure today. They were firm, but not as bad as we've all seen recently. Saying that, there were some pins in some tough positions that made putting quite difficult.....for us choppers anyway. ;)

A couple of rounds to report.

Yesterday played a single Stableford in a Pro Am with the first round of the Qld Seniors PGA Championship at Reddie Bay. Played with John Downs from Nudgee and Mark Wilson from Byron Bay and had a great time.

Managed 32 points 17/15

3/18 GIR
8/14 FIR
34 Putts

Drove the ball well but just did not convert enough into pars, my iron play was a bit inconsistent.

Today played with Perci, Hux and Pete at Nudgee.

Single Stableford 16/20 = 36pts

4/18 GIR
9/14 FIR
32 putts

Again drove the ball well but did not convert enough to pars (too many tap in bogeys) on the front nine. Started to come good on the back and finished strong.

I played at Cairns GC this morning in a single stab with Solarman, Haysey & Dcanto.

I wasn't overly thrilled with most of my shots, but I did make some really good swings in amongst it all. My swing changes are still a work in progress, so I'm not disappointed with the result.

78 gross
38 pts

7 fairways
7 greens
30 putts

2 birdies
9 pars
6 bogies
1 double (3-putt )

PS. Solarman & I won the bet against the bad guys. 8)

I won my next round of matchplay 6 & 4. I played much better golf today barring the 9th and 18th where I managed to card 9's. Very frustrating as I had a nett 68 and should have been sub 65 but overall I can't complain. It was nice to be playing of the short stuff for most of the day and see a couple of putts get in the hole.

Round 1 Gordonvale Open

78 / 69 - 41 / 37

Turned the corner at 6 over, thought I was dead then, 8 pars with one stupid double bogey!!

6 FIR
5 GIR (Man those greens are small and getting smaller I reckon)
Birdies Nil
Pars 11
Bogeys 6
Other 1 (Double)
Putts 31

Scrambled well particularly on the back 9 where putts started to drop as well

Round 2 tomorrow??

As mentioned by Courty, had a hit with Haysey & Solarman this morning at Cairns. One of the most entertaining fourballs I have ever played with and can't wait for Haysey to post the latest instalment of Solarman's battles with the 8th hole.

Haven't played a lot of comp lately due to family committments but was happy with 33 points. Putting was dreadful for the first nine holes but eventually got my act together on the second nine where I ended up with 19 points. Haysey was happy for me to get off his shoulders on the second nine as he was tired carrying me in the bet with Courty and Solarman but the damage had already been done.

Looking forward to my next comp round whenever that might be....

Who ever invented par v stroke needs shooting (just don't like the concept)
I had -2 with only 2 pluses for the day
Mitch had +4 and Mat had square
Household bragging rights go to Mitch for the week....

I played this in a charity ambrose this morning with Tomson, Solarman & Solarman's mate. Unbelievably, we used more drives from Solarman than anyone else. We shot -14 with only one eagle (almost albatross) and no bogies. The nett score was 50 1/4 which was good enough for first place. Our prizes were 2 x Crockpots & 2 x Deep Fryers.

Absolute slopfest at Mirboo - both literal and figurative.

-6 to par and couldn't have been a worse score.
Disappointed with myself to chuck a club on the 13th when my 7th putt that touched the hole at the right speed failed to drop.

I rock. 38 points today with 2 wipes and a 1-pointer. Five 3-jabs and a bunch of flubbed chips too. Irons were dialed in though; the best I've ever hit them. It's the first time that I can remember that I was 100% confident of hitting it relatively close from anywhere inside 150. Short game is just trash though, as are the Pacific greens. 3-over for 23 points on the back nine (played off the 10th) and came home with a miserable 15 points eventhough I was still striking the ball very well.

Feels good though. Now to get the 'cap back down to where it should be.

Good round Henno.

I played Chart Hills yesterday.

75 (+3) for 40pts.

7/14 fairways but the ones I missed were mostly by a couple of yards or so at most.

10 greens

30 putts without a three-jab.

The first time in ages that all parts of my game have really contributed towards a score.

Round 2 Gordonvale Open:

79 / 71

Another tale of two 9's, 6 over at the turn, 3 over for the rest but, choked a little on a coupla holes...

Inadvertently deleted my stats off the phone but, didn't hit a massive amount of greens, think I had around 31 putts again.

At least it was consistent if not dazzling...

Putting was reasonable though....

Played Carbrook Shark challenge today 85/73
Hit the ball solidly once again and my putting improved out of sight. Three sloppy shots costs me three penalties which sucked big time.
I was 1 under my hcp standing on the 18th tee, it was the first time all day I thought about my score, what followed was a true custard head moment (sorry henno)
ended up with a nice triple
7 Greens
9 Fairways
31 Putts
8 Pars
6 Bogeys
3 Doubles
1 Triple
