View Full Version : New Buggy Time. Clicgear or Smoothy?

Flavzz

Whats the go? Clicgear looks the part but im thinking something like the Smoothy Lightning with suspension will be the easier to soak up the bumps. Obviously the smoothy has the price edge too being locally sourced for under $200. How good are the Clicgear buggies?

How much boot space do you have?

MegaWatty

Smoothy have just brought out one like the Clicgear but it's not on their website for some stupid reason.

Note: haven't checked the website today.

The new smoothy that looks like the clicgear or the clicgear would be the go then! The lightning is ok but I don't think it folds up anywhere near as well or small.

Both roll really well IMO, the clicgears wheels are really good.

Smoothy Classic takes heaps of boot!!!

Some of the other Smoothy's get pretty compact.

Flavzz

Do u notice the lack of suspension in the Cliccy compared to the smoothys with suspension?

Yossarian
16th August 2010, 08:43 PM
I honestly haven't rolled the clicgear enough to make a decent comment on that, I don't think it makes a huge difference. But the new smoothy clicgear would be the best of both worlds :)

MegaWatty

I don't think the newbie has suspension.

Flavzz
16th August 2010, 08:49 PM
yeah I have used my mates Smoothy with suspension and it absolutely glides! Makes my pull pilgrim buggy feel like a shopping cart full of rocks..

If I can spare the boot space the Smoothy might get the nod especially due to price as well.. Not sure where I could source a Clic Gear for under $300ish either

simmsy
16th August 2010, 08:54 PM
theyre both the best buggies available i reckon.
i think it comes down to the fact of room in your car.
the clicgear goes great, but yeah not as smooth as the smoothy but still goes well without the suspension.
if room in the car is no problem i'd go the smoothy.

Flavzz
16th August 2010, 09:00 PM
Ok might go to GC Outlet tomoz and see what the deal is, maybe they will have the new Smoothy Clicgear style ones too.

Space is an issue atm but planning on upgrading the car to a 4door so might just get whats readily available

Best for pushing = Smoothy
Best for space-saving = Clicgear

They are both goof buggies, so choose what suits you most.

Flavzz

Summed up well Courty. Will check it out tomorrow but leaning towards Smoothy... although I do have a lack of space.. :? Cant win!

Priceless Dcanto, I love it when i see golfers trying to get their kids involved.
Hard enough to get time off to play golf, but when you take the kids off mums hands also........you could play golf 7 days a week.

Oh, looks like your boy is having a great time too.

Thanks hocko - All part of the brainwashing... I mean encouraging his interest in golf. Hopefully he will still want to have a hit with his old man when he is old enough to drive a car and drink beer.

Not quite - but the statement "Daddy, you missed the hole again" has been made more than once when we are putting.

Every time I go to golf my daughter tells me to get a hole in one. Every time I come home she asks if I got one. Every time the answer in the same. And every time she is so disappointed in me. :). :(

i got the brosnan wallabuggy from squizzy's golf.

love it. cant say a bad thing about it, easy assembly, suspension works well. Top of the hill just let it fly whilst you casually walk down after it with a vb in your hand.

how much for this one hyrola?

Semi-ordered a Smoothy Lightning from GCO. Be here in 2 days, price and suspension was the deciding factor

Yeah boot space could be an issue but i have a ute, so not an issue for me :) Though it goes pretty damn flat, just have to take the seat off is all and i reckon it would fit in most cars easily.

I had the smoothy classic, and sold it and bought the new clicgear...

I prefer the clicgear by a mile!

I now have so much boot space, and the brake is a lot easier to use being hand operated.

Will a Mizuno Staff Bag (10.5") fit on a clicgear?? Or does the spine of the buggy dig into the bag?

The bit that sticks out the back of the staff bag needs to be squashed by the main pole of the buggy. this is why I am thinking of changing to a Walla or Smoothy.

1 vote for the clicgear......

I have the 2.0 model and 3.0 isnt really much different...way way better than the smoothy IMO.....lighter, faster..easier to fold...more boot space when folded....

an awesome buggy

I have a Flip-N-Go, good buggy for the price (I paid $199 I think). Nice and compact and easy to push. Also takes pretty much any bag without problems. It is basically a copy of the 4 wheel Sun Mountain cart. Sun Mountains are now distributed here by Under Par and retail for around the $230/$240 mark, worth a look also.

Doesn't fit. When Veeman was looking for a new buggy he tried to fit his 10.5" bag on a Clic Gear 1 and the only way to make it work was to put it on rotated 90° so that the "ball" pocket was on one side and the larger "shoe" pocket was on the other. It won't fit with the "shoe" pocket underneath like you would normally put it, there just isn't enough clearance to the frame.

Clicgear's need a fitting with the bag if your choice.

I think Velcro straps on elastic would have been better.

I just changed from a Smoothy Caddy Lite to a ClicGear 3.0.

The only thing I can fault/nitpick with the ClicGear is that it takes a contortion act to unfold (while half asleep) and the taller wheel slides on a grassy slope, when the brake is applied, so have to remember to turn it across the hill.

Other than that, it matches/beats the Smoothy in every category, including ease to push uphill. Particularly impressed with the cargo net under the handle, to throw in a jumper or headcovers.
