Played at Muirfield today with the guys.

Was a game where on the front 9 you could see I had not played for some time. 11 points with 4 wipes and 2 pars. Also a major incident on the 8th which I have no doubt will be covered in the 1st tee thread on the game.
So whilst waiting on the 10th tee something must have clicked. I switched on and although I was still not hitting the ball that well I was scoring. Played the back 9 in 5 over with 6 pars, 1 bogie, & 2 double bogies. Was a Lazarus like comeback to post 23 points for the 9.

11 Front
23 Back
1 3 putt
Hardly any fairways
Not many GIR
Lots of up & Downs
1 Sand Save

Nice back 9 Grunt.

I had a pretty good day at Tea Tree Gully GC today and shot 81 off the stick with a great front 9 (+2) and a bad back nine (+9) but shot to my hcp for 36 stableford points. Back nine was marred by two bad holes to finish with a triple after a lost drive then a double on the last. So prob should have cracked 80.

More than anything I was really happy with how I was striking the ball off all clubs and then putted quite well to back it up so it was an enjoyable day.

Yeah played with Grunt at Muirfield and shot 39 points. I should have had 41 points +, but a poor 3 bogey stretch on 15, 16 and 17 really ruined what was a solid game of golf.

I also played at Muirfield with the boys today, and also had a good back nine ( or actually a last six, which I went round in one under). But an appalling front nine. Dodgy ball striking, and woeful putting, then the ball striking came together quite well from the 9th on. Because Grunt did his stats, I'll do mine as well.

Fairways = 7 of 13
Greens in reg = 9 of 18 (being a bit generous, I was 2 feet off the green a few times)
Putts = 38, 6 threeputts, 2 birdies
Up and down = 1 of 6
Sand Saves = 1 of 3

Single Stroke event at Reddie Bay today; 87/70 (43/41)

I managed to snare an NTP and the club pin. A couple of wobbles with the driver kneecapped an otherwise pretty sound round. Lipped out a birdie putt from 3' on the last:roll:

7/18 GIR
3 U & Ds
9/14 FIR
34 putts

1 birdie
8 pars
6 bogeys
2 doubles
1 triple

Good golfing guys.

Stableford at Highercombe today conditons were wet as and boggy to the max.

Shot 81 for 37 points and hit it pretty good. A couple dissapointing 3 putt bogeys hurt the score tho. Had a fun day. I really like the course layout too as no 2 holes are real similar and it has a lot of character.

Played at The Australian GC today, and I shot +3 myself off the white tees (which measure about 6.2K's!!).

First 5 holes I played pretty poorly, but after that I started to play really solid golf.

And I still cannot believe this...

On the 18th hole, it was playing downwind. I hit a drive 275 metres down the middle (downwind), and had 180 metres to the middle of the green. About 165 to clear the water (front pin). I hit a high cutting 5 iron that looked beautiful. I shouted out "be good", and it was. It landed IN THE HOLE, and PITCHED BACK OUT OF THE HOLE to 25 FEET AWAY!! I've never ever been that close to an albatross.. I even took a pic of the damaged hole for posterity sake.

1st photo is the 18th green from about 40 short.
2nd photo is the pitch mark in the hole.
3rd photo is where I hit my 2nd shot from. About 170 to the pin.

played Kurri tuesday just gone and had 33 points which was a first run after a 13 day spell. everything was dodgy.

just finished at Morrisset in the Thursday comp and had 29 points and getting worse! slow play is the killer on Thursday when you get all the old pricks out there doddering around and unfortunately they allow old boilers to play also. gotta watch where you take a piss!!

Mate, I played there last Sunday and shot a dismal 96. I probably had 40 putts. Those greens are hard and fast.

Harder and faster than last week, GBWG. Plus there were a few tough pin positions that I simply couldn't get close to. I'll need plenty more rounds there to learn the undulations and tiers and all that junk.

I played with the club handicapper today, and he said that my work around the green was "atrocious". He wasn't wrong.

Oh, and another guy in the group I was in scored 39 points with 5 points and a wipe in his last 6 holes.

KristianJ
22nd July 2010, 07:57 PM
Eh, maybe. I think I'd be a dead weight in 2BBB the way things are.

Really though, my work off the tee and 100 to 160m approach shots wasn't too bad. It was just my short game and putting that was about 20 shots too many.

But I know that the more I play there, the more I'll get used to the way that the greens play and all the contours. But I think that I made a mistake with the White Ice - insert putters don't work well for me at all.

Flavzz
22nd July 2010, 08:51 PM
Save some cash for some lessons mate, best money u can spend if u want to improve. Keep the White ice until after 1 lesson, if its still no good, sell it..

KristianJ
22nd July 2010, 11:17 PM
Yeah, it could be premature giving the White Ice the arse, but I just haven't been able to get results with it.

Re. lessons, I get along well with the pro at the driving range/golf facility at Penrith Panthers, so will probably end up talking to him in terms of sorting out when I can get some advice. If a first ever lesson worked wonders for Courty (http://www.ozgolf.net/showthread.php/19432-Courty-s-****ed-up-swing.-Help-needed%21?p=502385&viewfull=1#post502385), there's a chance that one could do the same for me.

3 down. Looks like I'm over my really crap scores. Still struggling a bit, but the putter is coming back strong.

There's a good chance that I'll be put from 9.6 to 11.something in 3 rounds...

Although I have to defend my midweek champs win. Well sorta. I was given Gross Runner Up over Nett Winner. So I've got something to defend. ;)

It's Cairns Show Day today, so DJ Nomanom (aka. The Real Slim Haysey), Mr Tissues & myself went out for a bash. The Friday chook run was still on, so our first 9 holes was played for that, 2nd 9 didn't count for anything other than the split 6's. I'm still getting the feel for the new swing, but for the most part, it's much more betterer than it was. I let myself down with a few poor putts on the 2nd 9 which resulted in soft bogies. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the progress.

78 gross (35 front 9)
38 pts (22 pts)

6 fairways
7 greens
26 putts

2 birdies
9 pars
6 bogies
1 double

Nudgee South 41pts. Finished strong with 2 under last 7 holes. 5 metre eagle chance on the 17th and NTP on 18.

Gamed the Optima Lady for the first time. Quite pleased, good distance, workability and feel is good. I like the sound the ball makes off the woods. Some old bitty played my ball by mistake.

19 front
22 back
32 putts
9 GIR
2/13 Fairways
2 birds
11 pars
5 bogies
1 dbl bogies

Managed to sneak in 9 holes today for my first golfing post baby. Played the back 9 on the tuart course at Wembley for the first time. 4 pars and 19 over on the other 5 holes...what a chopper! 4 pars and a double from 13-17 I was feeling good seeing as I had just walked on and started swinging (badly) and then I screwed 18 royally for a nine :( A bit of a let down but it was great to get back out there.

Mossman Open - 1st round today.

Given I had a lesson on Thursday, finding a way to work on the first part of what Luke had found was very hard.

83/74 ( 45/38 )

FIR - 7/13
GIR - 4/18
Putts - 28

Hit a wrong ball, 1 shank and still at a loss as to where the ball is going to end up after playing a shot.

At least the JW's are ready and available!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

three comp rounds in a week!!!! yesterday at Morrisset had -2 in a par event. -2 front and square the back. brilliance mixed with a fair sprinkling of shit. greens are quick with the pins put in stupid positions.

40 points at Albury yesterday. 21/19. Played solidly, but still managed a wipe on the par 5 13th (from the middle of the fairway), and a couple of other misdemeanours. A little unlucky with the putter late in the round, hit some good putts that just burned the edges. 73 (+3)

Why haven't you been able to get out for a round rick? :(

Played today with Andrew_S at Twin Creeks GC and I shot 32 points. I hit 12 GIR and only sunk two decent putts all day (which were about 8 feet each).

A couple of interesting lies and swings were had though. On the 16th hole I hit my 2nd shot with a 9i a little right of the pin. My ball landed on the fairway and kicked right, but missed the bunker and water. I got up there and my ball was wedge in between two rocks which formed a triangle shape, making it impossible to hit my shot. I used my 64 degree wedge and hit it about an inch into a slightly better lie (but still wedged between the rocks). I tried to hit it again, and I made solid contact and I looked up to see where my ball was. And it disappeared down some sort of hole in the ground! Never to be seen again...

Some pics to come later. :)

Mossman Open - 2nd Round today.

82/71 ( 40/42 )

FIR - 3
GIR - 3
Putts - 29

Got on the bogey train on the back nine in the rain.

Took on Julie and another ex work mate, only for the fact that my partner hit form in the last 6 holes and the girls got handicap fright otherwise we would have been smashed (was 5 down with 6 to go and finished square)

36 points at Camden Lakeside today. Sometimes 36 can be disappointing, but this was a good 36 after being three down after 5 and never getting it back until the 18th. Quite happy with my overall play because the ball striking wasn't quite there today, but I managed my way around the course.

couple of interesting lies and swings were had though.

No kidding Pup! The lies I had on 7 and 9 was laughable (on both occasions, deeply plugged in a greenside bunker and ridiculously close to the front lip). I'll let the pics speak for themselves when they go up.

A few messy holes and a lack of committment on a few putts left me with 35 pts in the end.

28 points at manly off 21 and back out to 22.3.

horrific..including one hilarious wet grip incident where i actually lost control of the club and it kind of flopped up in the air on my backswing before landing just in front of me.
