Meadow is the most overpriced goat track in the city. Anyone have connections there?

simmsy

Only if it's in good condition!!

i have played that track too many times in poor nick, when it's up and running its a good track though and could be worth penciling in.

Araluen would be good fun too, but don't enjoy carts.

Thanks for the faith!

As for 3/4 caps, if we've all got AGUs then there should be no cut in caps I reckon. Basically, we have to lose 2 to 3? shots to JC and he plays off his same cap. With the current system, it genuinely reflects how you're currently playing. Anyone disagree?

Apart from the Yank.

Johnny Canuck

Handicaps are based over 18 holes of golf. Skins are individuals holes where the advantage goes to the higher capper, especially when holes can be carried over.

Tiger's really changed!

Johnny Canuck
2nd July 2010, 10:16 AM
Good call Mega. I have to bring it over.

What a freaking awesome day.

I have never met a guy as crazy as Tiger. Not s single one......This guy was off the hook from moment one, on the first hole he hit it 90* left into the shit and lost it on himself going on and on about hitting 3 irons next time......Then on 6 he hit it 60 yards left with 4 iron, screamed at the group in front of us who were trying to tell him where his ball was, then briefly quit, only to hit it into the shit again the next hole, throw his driver and snap it in two......Awesome to see really...........I'll let my host (JCanuck) fill you in on the drama on 13.......That alone was worth the $30 green fee (best deal in golf)

We all played shitty, capped by my solid 29 points....I have been playing so bad lately I don't know what to do, but I strung together 3 straight birdies on 7-8-9 which made me feel good......Kennedy Bay is one of the toughest courses around, not a good place to be if you are struggling.....

All in all a great day, Exasac, JC and Tiger were all gracious hosts and I have to admit, I haven't had that much fun on a course in a long time.....If you ever get to play with them, bring your sledge book, you'll need it......

The ultimate highlight came on the 13th tee. Fresh off of winning 3 skins, Tiger's 2 iron started in the middle of the fairway, and ended up clearing a boundry fence about 90-100m from the middle of the fairway.
We all knew it was out. He even stated it was out. He had just claimed he might have to leave because he wasn't going to finish in time. We thought, there is no way (or reason) to look for the ball. Exasac, Spiersy and myself we standing in the fairway, sipping a bourbon and having a chart when the explosion happened!
"WHY ISN'T ANYONE HELPING ME LOOK FOR MY BALL?!?! IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU GUYS WOULD HELP ME F*CKING LOOK!!!" (and so on). We kind of looked at each other, shocked, and went back to our conversation. Tiger then stormed over, played his provisional, which lead to a 2-iron helicopter that actually made Spiersy duck in fear as the club flew by and landed beside the ball it just hit.
That brought the total to 1 thrown wedge, 1 putter, 1 2-iron and 1 driver (now broken).

The comment of the day was delivered by Speirsy on the ninth green. After Exasac decided to hit into various sets of trees, the group behind us got a little restless. While we were putting, a ball rolled up towards the green. I said "i nominate Tiger to hit it back if another rolls up", to which Speirsy took his life in his own hands by replying in a nice loud voice "At least we know they won't get hit then!"

ADLO - set up a poll for who thinks skins games should full h/c or 3/4 h/c. It shouldn't just be gospel if the Soroks Prick says so. Democracy not El Presidente Soroks. I know you'll say it's unfair JC but let the people speak and if it doesn't fall your way set up a skins game with the JC rules in play.
In case ur wondering I'll be voting 3/4 as I know I'll still beat u. U can't be lucky all the and pennants season

Do a bit of reading if you have some time, Simmsy.

More commonly, skins games are played at 1/2 handicaps.

Other rules that are commonly brought in are that a gross score beats a net of the same score and no strokes are given on par 3s.

3/4 handicaps is very generous.

2nd July 2010, 03:29 PM

Don't get too touchy JC - "more commonly, skins games are played at 1/2 handicaps" geez nothing like a bit of anecdotal evidence to prove a good case is there!
all i'm saying is everyone has equal say about it, you don't have to play at full h/c JC, by the looks of it there is more than enough people putting there hands up.
Some guys won't be comfortable putting up there hard earned at 3/4 handicaps just like you are telling anyone that will listen that your not happy playing at full h/c.

What needs to be established is the rules for this game and i merely suggested that majority should rule. Remember i said i would go with 3/4 because i know how passionate about it you are and i would rather play skins in your group than not at all. Maybe if we had two groups you could have one at full and one at 3/4 h/c's.

Chin up JC - it's only money, you can make more.;)

Johnny Canuck
2nd July 2010, 06:01 PM
Not touchy at all. I knew you're old man senses would take my comment in the wrong tone. Relax. Make a nice warm cup of Ovaltine.

I was merely pointing out that full handicaps are commonly not applied in skins due to the nature of the game. 1/2 handis is much more common, or something such as MAFIA skins.

Just to educate the world, one old man at a time.

simmsy
2nd July 2010, 06:05 PM
I'm not saying it doesn't happen but i had never heard of it until i met you and i've been playing golf for more years than Yoss has been annoying this world, i've been playing skins since i was 12 and always played full hc. you just have to show us how good you are JC.
like i said let the people speak and let The Don rule - and then we'll hopefully get to go and play golf, have a great day drink some over priced bourbon and pay you $100 in skins.

adlo
3rd July 2010, 11:58 AM
Absolutely brilliant. 8 punters.

I will think about everything that has been said. However, even though it costs me a stroke or two, I do tend to agree with the Canadian re: not playing off full handicaps in a skins match.

I might put it to the field, see what we think. If people are unhappy with the final decision, they can always pull out, that's what she said.

Honestly though, lets consider the changes, it is minimal:

(Handicap) Handicap for skins match.

1. Adlo (14) 11
2. MW (10) 8
3. JC (3) 2
4. Simmsy (14) 11

Well it seems most resort courses are in crap nick or too expensive.

I am happy at any decent track that doesn't offer too much in the way of home course advantage.

Vines or Araluen in decent nick. Otherwise Sun City, Waneroo (we should have enough recips to get 2 groups on), Kwinana....

Mickey Mouse course and i would think too hard to get 8 of us on there for a skins game.

Golfnut
3rd July 2010, 11:30 PM
My brother was out at Araluen in Friday and while still no where near its former glory, he said the greens were very good.....still prefered lies on fairways that were in better than average condition. Maybe with a bit more rain over the coming months the fairways might get a leg up.

MegaWatty
3rd July 2010, 11:43 PM
The problem is always going to be the damage to out soft buttery forgings that we all? have. Those stones will probably be a lot closer to the fairways these days.

Is Madurah dramatic enough for a skins game?

simmsy

I'll chase up in the next couple of days, its unlikely that the greens will be cored in September, Joondalup tends to go later in October or even November.

I've got a massive Italian wedding to go to on the 4th September, so it may need to be the week after.

Sounds like a lot of weddings I went to when I was younger.....most of the time I had NFI who 90% of the people were at most of them.....I think in this day and age, things are a bit more toned down now in terms of numbers.....heck, Julie and I managed to keep it under 120 from memory which would have been unheard of for a wog family back in the 80's and 90's.

Indians are almost as bad! My reception had 275 about people of which Lesley knew 50. The rest flew in.

Definitely not MW. The wog wedding I went to in Sydney whilst over there on hols was some scene....well...

The bridal party dance (that I was part of) was done to that Lion King song "Can you feel the love tonight" closely followed by that new song "I don't speak Americano".

I thought it was just typical, not many presents, just lots of envelopes being passed under tables from guests to the parents of the newlyweds.

There were like 9 courses and over 250 ppl there. The bride/groom only knew about 40% of them!

Stuff that, too much fuss. I might just get married on a boat/ship aussie style!

Because so far I'm very impressed with the Stiff grey diamana shaft that was in my new 1i hybrid I bought the other day at golfbox.

It plays a tad softer than STIFF, like a firm IMHO. So far I love it and has more response and feel than the boardier grafalloy.

Bruce Dickinson
13th July 2010, 12:34 PM
righto, the 19th is no good but seeing what's free 12th or 26th and what can be moved personally

the cost is as follows

3 people at $30 or $52.50 with carts and 4 at $145 including cart. Total cost would be $737.50 carting ($92 per person) or $670 ($83.75 per person) if one group walked.

I'm trying to see if we can dump the carts for the other grouo to get a better price, would save around $20 each but don't hold your breath

I always carry at Joondalup.

Last week, I actually purchased a Motokaddy S3. On the picture, it should a lithium battery. What I got was a standard battery. The lithium was an extra $500. Got my refund as it was misrepresentation.

I'll go the Chinese import as the clown that imports the Powakaddy and Motokaddy seems to control pricing. In the UK, the equivalent models are under 300 EU. This is still $1000 less than here.

My import cost $270 and lasted 4 years and a half until I lent it to someone and then it started to fall apart.

I walked Joondy a fair few times last summer. It is tiring, but not that bad. I think Quarry is the toughest walk. Lake and Dune are no different to walking Binningup twice.

OK, I need exact handicaps for this to be done right. If we are going to calculate 3/4 handicaps it is the fairest thing to do.

I'm 13.5.
JC 5.4.
Yoss 19.0.

Anyone playing a comp round midweek will need to post current handicap in this thread prior to Sunday.

My initial reaction was to disagree with JC. I thought about it for a while and realised that multipying an already rounded handicap (by golflink to a whole number) and then rounding it again for Sunday, you could have some unnecessary variations. You and I for example were a whole shot off what we should be. Unfortunately for us, it was in the wrong direction!

I still need exacts for Hocko, mega and IDG.

Out to 5 after acouple of not so great club champ rounds.

Not trying to cheat guys but golflink still tells me i'm at 2.8...so 2.8 it is. :(

You have between now and Sunday to rectify!

Not that I am complaining!

is it a MGGC thing Hocko?

i know my old man and his mates reckon their h/c aren't adjusting to what they thought it would be out at MGGC since the new system came in. i put it down to the fact they are nearing aged care homes and not totally with it.

maybe not?

10.2 but might have a comp game at RF on Thursday. I'll advise any changes.

My import cost $270 and lasted 4 years and a half until I lent it to someone and then it started to fall apart.

Was that the one you lent to me?
