I can't seem to find a setting that allows me to be notified is someone sends me a Visitor Message ? :smt017

Would it be possible to add this notification to the drop-down list of Notifications at the top of the page ?

Don't you see a "1" next to the Notifications heading?

Only for PM's ... not Visitor Messages ???

Why, do you get a notification when a 'friend' sends you a VM do you ?

Obviously you don't have friends therefore thats why you aren't getting the notifications!

I think so. Someone sent me a VM to advise me that my PM box was full and I got the message.

If I click on your "home page" it doesn't list your visitor messages, but it does for everyone else that I have looked at. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

I've restricted access so that only my 'friends' can view my homepage

Profile, Settings, Privacy.

Done that, nothing there to say 'click here to receive notifications of incoming VM's'

Try turning on the ability for people to view your homepage, then get someone to send you a VM. If it works, you know what the problem is.

I'll have a look next week when back on ADSL.

I had that feature turned on, and didn't get any notifications.

Jarro

Not all of them.

There are certain 'friends' of mine who must not have that feature enabled.

AndyP

Who don't they work from? There are 9 friends listed in your profile.

All of them.

I've only ever got one notification of a new VM, and that was from you about 10 minutes ago

AndyP

And you got a notification when a VM was sent from a test account. It appears to work fine. :smt102

Jarro

So then it must be something that needs to be sorted from the people on my list, something in their profiles that need to be enabled ?

Jarro
30th June 2010, 12:44 PM
I think i might have it sorted now AndeePee, i'm thinking it's a problem with the Lights Off style.

I've just changed to the Lights Off version and have received notifications from one of my friends in my contact list.

AndyP

Which one does it work with?

Lights on.

It sounds like Courty's fault then. I'll leave it to him.

Seriously, it doesn't seem logical to me and unless it's a widespread problem, it may have to go in the too hard basket.

Jarro

No worries, i can live with that

Courty

That doesn't sounds right to me. I receive notifications and I use the Lights Off style.

I can't see how functionality like that could be affected by the style.

My guess is user error. ;)

Jarro

Courty, check your visitor messages please

Much like a normal room, if it's dark the lights are off and if it's bright the lights are on!

Still not working right.

AndyP

Was he asking for the contact details of your hairdresser?

Eag's, if you read this, please send me a VM.

Was this issue ever resolved? I don't get any notification message for Visitor Messages. A number does appear against Notifications at the top of the page, but unless I notice it, I am none the wiser. PMs work fine and I get both the email and the pop up message.

I think that is all that is meant to happen.

Correct.

No pop-up reminders for VM's i'm afraid :(
