wondering what the general consensus would be if you're struggling with certain parts of the game...

would you just go out and practice, or get a 1/2 hour lesson, and hope that within that time frame, an obvious flaw can be picked up...

some b/ground - despite having a drop in handicap and scores over the past few years, I've somehow managed to maintain that sort of score/play, despite becoming a very very poor chipper of the ball...and I mean bad!!!

My first option is to always use the texas wedge, the "real" wedge only comes out when there's no other choice!

The bad shots are the usual suspects - duffs or blades...and now it's just a matter of the ball anywhere on the green or close is a bonus. No problem when the ball is sitting on a fluffy lie (we have pretty bare lies here).

So wondering if it's just a matter of practice to sort it out, or get another pair of eyes to sort it out!!!

From the sounds of it you are flipping.

strap a ruler to the back of your left wrist and hit down on it. Try it for 30 mins and see how you go.

If that doesn't work take a video of chipping action and have a look yourself...also is the issue in practice or just game play?

An hour with Willow and you will be on your way.

I know how you feel, i used to be terrified when faced with relatively short chips. Use a wedge with normal bounce on it and chip by hitting deliberately fat, like about 2cm. The club should bounce under the ball without digging in and you have a massive margin for error.

There is no point practicing a bad technique. So get a lesson.

Chipping is easy!!..... getting it near the hole, well that's another thing. :-s

Spend the money on something worthwhile and practice.

spent about 90 mins chipping yesterday (can't really remember when I did that last)...
seems to help - the goal wasn't to get any really close, but more to get the feel back into the chipping stroke...
was gonna go do it again today after work, but the damn rain came...
feeling good about it tho...

some key thoughts that came to mind mid-way thru the session - straight back, straight thru, don't let the clubhead lag behind...
