OK, how and where and in what sort order do I put my clubs into this ? Was there a design element behind this that I am missing - or is it just free range ?

Does anyone have an idea so I can save the trial and error . . .

I'm going to guess. (Assuming the bag leans over towards the bottom of the diagram.)

Putter top left.
Mid, short irons and wedges middle.
Long irons/hybrids right, woods left (or vice-versa).

put your wedge and putter in the middle two slots. then fill up the other 12 slots with your hyrids.

it makes sense to put 6 clubs in random holes, then jam the remaining clubs into holes already used. You are not supposed to use all the holes.
